Britains answer to Sam Cooke visually & vocally. Labi has a voice like an angel and his songwriting talents are second to none. You won't find a more outspoken person on Earth on the issue of human rights. Saw him first in a Soho jazz combo "Safari" in 1966 (he only played jazz guitar back then). This man deserved to've been on the recent Mandela concert list. Instead we got Amy Winehouse.(Yikes!)

But today this innocence is lost and is replaced by in your face arrogance/attitude/rudeness. We're forced to grow up too fast. We see the effects in society. Due to the TV advert being shown on UK TV, it brought back great memories of Labi Siffre's performances back in the early 70's. I bought one of his albums, and love his lyrics. Great to see and hear this video. Does anyone know what he is doing these days?

LEDEB; Labi was an enigma back in London around 1970 Most black singers were either reggae stars or slick soul singers...THEN along came this ordinary baby faced guy, openly gay, no pretense whatsoever with lyrics made in Heaven. Labi opened the way for performers like Joan Armatrading. A more powerful human activist for peace and unity you won't find. God Bless him!

Just found this wonderful reminder of early 70's music. I saw Labi in 1971 or 1972 in Southampton. In amongst all the other wonderful music of the time I feel he was pushed out to the sidelines. Now I fully appreciate the universality of his poetry and music
