@feomycat123 Thanks for stopping by and I hope your Daughter's Birthday was a memorable one. As for Underground Atlanta, don't bother visiting that dump, UNLESS you don't have a problem with being in the midst of every concievable form of ignorance & negativity. There is NOTHING positive about Underground Atlanta, and it is indeed a waste of space. Take care & Happy Holidays!
I use 2b so proud of the atl back in the 90's. Now when I take marta from the airport to doraville it doesnt seem like the same place. I dont know if its the influx of people from other places or what but it doesnt feel like the same city.
I like Underground Atlanta because I like the urban feel of it, and if I take the MARTA downtown, walking through UA is something to do, and there are quite a few cute girls there
@futureBLESS Thanks for your input. I agree with you that UA and MARTA have an Urban (i.e. Ghetto, Hood Rat, Thug) feel to it, so it's really not a place for positive/progressive people to be. If you want to mix with the ignorant crowd, UA is where it's at. Be safe and watch your back!
@seand67 You are not in any position to judge anyone. I went to school at GSU and walked through Underground all the time....Atlanta was a lot worse back in the day. Crime has dropped nearly 40% since the early 90's, where have you been? Sounds like Seand67 is somewhat of a wimp and that explains why you don't like Underground Atlanta
@terminuszone1 I'm so glad you enjoyed the hoodrats, thugs, hustlers, and the general pissy smell of Underground Atlanta in between your classes. BRAVO...you get a pat on the back. At any rate, thanks for stopping by and trying to sugar coat the truth, which is that U.A. is a HUGE waste of tax payers money and is primarily enjoyed by the segment of society that embraces nothing but ignorant bullsh*t. I visited U.A. recently with hopes of progress...NOT another sneaker store or hoodrat kiosk!
@seand67 Ha ha ha You sound like such a douche bag.......You want it closed down because you don't like the people......or is your mission to purpose a new use for Underground and possibly make it better? Sounds like you are just crying about it on the web and not really trying to make it better. There is a process you know and if you have any questions feel free to ask me....my major was in City Planning and Economic Development.
@terminuszone1 Oh you're back and with a douche bag to boot. I see why you're defending U.A. You're foul, just like it's patrons. Maybe this will pacify you.....I appreciate your support for Underground Atlanta and all that it has to offer. It is indeed the 'crown jewel' of Atlanta and represents the BEST that this city has to offer. I will from this point on, disregard the endless negative feedback by multitudes of tourists, and my own experiences regarding this downtown venue for that matter.
@terminuszone1 Thanks for your endearing comments. Feel free to add more if that makes you feel better. I'm sure the clowns who mismanage U.A. will surely appreciate it. Your sugar coating the situation at 5 Points / Underground Atlanta was TRULY entertaining. All the best to you...;~)
@BadNewz5000 No problem. I'm glad you were spared any exposure to the bullsh*t & negativity that's allowed to fester at Underground Atlanta. Spread the word about UA and tell your friends to think twice about venturing into the armpit of Atlanta.
HOpefully everybody who chose to visit U.A. on New Years Eve made it home safely. There was a fatal stabbing at midnight, which left a teenager dead and another round of vioence took place inside.
Shutting down Underground won't solve anything. People will fight and act a fool regardless of where they are. I don't hear much about any foolishness going on in the Mall of West End (just south of downtown). But just a few weeks ago, some idiots got cornered by APD at Phipps Plaza after a robbery. Phipps Plaza is in the upscale neighborhood of Buckhead.
@MISTERDIPLOMATIC Ok, you might be right about shutting down UA, but they should stop wasting tax payers money on that dead beat location, which is home to hood rats and useless thugs selling weed. UA is a joke...a dollar store coupled with a bunch of sneaker shops and a lame ass food court. Yeah, I know about West End and crime in other areas, BUT UA is located at 5 points which is the hub for mass transit in Atlanta (MARTA), unlike Phipps Plaza, etc. UA is nothing but a nasty gutter!!
@seand67 It's a shame what this place has become over the years. Next, these hoodlums will be in the backyards of $300k homes in Alpharetta watching two pitbulls go at it, passing blunts and degrading women at the same time. I used to like going to Underground; going in various clothing stores, all those little stands along the main drag, and the food court. According to all these outrageous videos I've seen on YouTube (one in which a man punches a lady), UA has been fed to the wolves. SMH
@MISTERDIPLOMATIC Right, and testimony from countless tourists speaks volumes. If people think I'm lying or exagerating about UA, then more power to them. Man, UA is literally A SEWER...LO LIE..You smell piss as you ride the main escalator down from Peachtree Street, and when you get to the bottom, an army of countless hustlers, thugs, teenage mommas pushing strollers, homeless people, and an assortment of lowlifes are there to greet you. UA used to be a great place, now it's a HOT MESS!
Wow, is it that BAD? Last time I visit was in 2007, It was a line between MEH and NIGGERTRY. I thought I saw Young Jeezy down there. I FAKED acted like I was suprised or shocked because for the FIRST TIME, I saw a celebrity...a wack ass one,DAMN! I'm aiming for T-Boz,Chilli or Dugenon Fam. next time I visit ! I bought a picture from an artist who was sponsoring his work. But what was the joint like during the 90's (the Olympic Era)? Actually, what was Atlanta like before the 2000's slipped in?
@free140 Underground Atlanta has turned into a virtual septic tank, avoid it AND the 5 points area at all costs. You've been warned. As for Atlanta & Underground Atlanta back during the Summer Olympics, IT WAS AWESOME. In fact, Downtown Atlanta actually resembled a REAL major city during that time. Underground used to have coffee shops, a book store, a WIDE variety of food, and very nice vendors. Today, you have sneaker shops, a dollar store, and more that's suitable for a Ghetto Heaven. PASS!
@s....next time I visit ATLANTA!! Shoot I forgot. Well that's good you've experienced it. I missed out on a damn good decade. How's the Olympic Park? Is that cool?
@free140 The Centennial Olympic Park has become the place of choice for visitors. The 'World Of Coca Cola' museum abandoned it's original Underground Atlanta location to move near the park. The Atlanta Aquarium is also next to Centennial Park, which is across from Philips Arena and the Georgia Dome.
I've been to most places in Atlanta except U.A. I went yesterday and I couldn't walk for 3 minutes without someone trying to sell me bootleg dvd's or weed. It seemed as if security didn't even care about it either.
I havent been to the Underground since 2007, and I wasnt really impressed by it...lousy selection of stores and the people around there...ugh dont get me started. So yeah, I agree with you about it.
Man..... it's Super Phuck up down there, everything is so Ghetto now, guys walking around with there pants hanging, Gays and lesbians, just dumb ass shit, Ghetto Ass N....gga's! be down there everyday hanging out doing nothing, then the stores are Flea Market like, food taste like Monkey hip and a splash of Vinegar!
@DamnYou22Times Yes, you're right about Underground Atlanta (UA) and I think it's time to close the joint. It's BEEN a failure on so many levels. If they won't close U.A., sell it to a company who can run it properly. Atlanta also refuses to address the surrounding nasty area around U.A. Until that happens, you'll still see the sh*t hole that is U.A. AGAIN, I urge everybody to avoid from the 'Five Points/Underground Atlanta' district.
Hey dude, I TOTALLY agree w/ u.. It is time 2 close U.A.
Back n the day when I attended undergrad @ Morehouse, it was nice
Now it is nothing but magnet for criminal activity, etc. I don't know what the city is waiting on to close it. For that young lady to have the female thugs beat her up, was uncalled. She should get a good lawyer............
Keeping it real!! We all know that if that was anyone else, namely a non-black person it would be heading to court now.
@SuperFreqNATL Thanks for watching, and you're right. If those Thuggetts jumped on a White girl, the Georgia National Guard would be called in. So you also hung out @ 'U.A.' back in the day ? Glad you had a chance to enjoy it. Also, it's nice meeting another Morehouse Brother on Y.T.
Hey Sean, my Brother-in-law and sister and my neice just got relocated to Atalanta. He works for the Airlines and had to move to stay with Delta. He lives near work. Is he in a descent place?
@boyjones12 I don't know about the area near Delta. It's never in the news like 'U.A.', so it's probably a good place. Just advise your Family members to avoid the 'U.A.' & 'Five Points' district when visiting Downtown ATL. Tell them to be careful no matter what area they visit.
Man that truly truly disappoints me i loved U.A it was so cool and so neat the way it was setup and all the stores it had...NIGGAS I HATE FUCKING NIGGAS CAUSE THEY STAY FUCKING UP THINGS FOR THE UPSTANDING BLK PEOPLE. DAMN IT
@cryptotech2004 Thanks for watching and it's good to know you remember how U.A. used to be. I still have a few cups from Fat Tuesdays....ahhh great times on Fridays after work. No drama, just fun back in the day. But now, it's hood rat central.
@indigirl86 Ok, it's one of my medium mugs (stay tuned for one twice as big!). Yeah, peruse through that site, and you already know to avoid Undergorund Atlanta & the Five Points district, so that's a good start. Make sure you record as much as possible during your visit.
It seems like the knuckle heads and malcontents tend to take over tourist attractions or gathering places, and then they ruin it for everyone.
There has to be something decent folks can do collectively to turn around this problem to make Underground Atlanta a nice place for families and others to
@blueBlackpurple Right, those bad apples are out of control, and it gets worse during the Summer months. As for 'doing something', I just don't know. Whenever 'embracing positivity' is suggested to these kids, they go off and persue a hip hop fantasy that's promoted on channels like B.E.T. and in lyrics of today's explicit music. These knuckleheads are also quick to talk about their right of expression...Ignorant Bullsh*t. They don't want to be anything better. Just keep it dumbed down and HOOD
@blueBlackpurple AGREED....thanks for your post. I'm suprised the City Of Atlanta continues to waste money on this joke of an attraction. The tourists who spend the real money have been warned to avoid 'U.A.' & Five Points at all costs. Yes, it's time to pull the plug on 'U.A.'
This sounds like Slauson Swap Meet, Compton Fashion Center....or this spot were I live now..The Fulton Mall. Back in the early 90's Fulton Mall was the place to go...mom& pop stores with a major retailer which was Gottschalks. Now alot of the stores are gone except for the t shirt, Jordan, & faux bag spot. They used to have live shows down there. They stopped that cause of a riot a few years back!
@Simus1974 Simus, you hit it on the head. 'U.A.' is nothing but a southern 'swap meet', where you can find an army of teenage mothers pushing strollers, thugs galore, all the low quality T-shirts, cell phone accessories, hair weave, cheap tourtist photos, nasty chinese food, complete with the smell of urine in the air...UGH!!!!
I haven't hit the underground since '04/05. It's gone down that pitifully? WOW. I must return to ATL, and soon. It seems that folks have lost their minds at a acellerated rate. I've got to come back and clean it up.
@seand67 Then again, you may be right. Thank God for brothas like you who do have the conciousness and passion to let the powers-that-be in ATL to get off their high horse, get on the stick and bring this city back to its former greatness.
@IG2HI Gotta warn good people about the pitfalls out there. ATL is funked up as U.A./FIve Points serves as a good example of such. I may go down there and shoot some footage for those who don't believe it's nothing but a Ghetto Armpit...RIGHT IN the middle of Downtown ATL. Dayam
Man, that's why I have not been to Underground Atlanta since about '02 or '03. Me and my friends used to love it. Then along came that "element" and of course all the good people stopped coming. That element destroys everything they come in contact with. You would think they would want to stay around people as dumb acting as they are but noooooo, they want to be where all the good natured civilized folk are. It's the same here in Augusta too man. They are destroying fun times at our mall. Sad.
@madefrom9 Hey Bro. You're absolutely right, and you'd think those fools who manage Ungerground Atlanta, would've gotten the hint when all the major stores and attractions like the 'World Of Coca Cola' ran away from 'U.A.', which in it's current state, offers absolutely nothing positive. The ATL Visitor's Burreau needs to stop promoting 'U.A.'. It does not represent the best Atlanta has to offer.
@seand67 Same down here man. Our mall is quickly becoming ghetto central and no one seems to be willing to stop the madness now. We lost our other mall years ago because of the same thing. Same with our parks and lakes too man. You would think they would want to stay in ghetto areas with like minded people since they always seem to be proud of being from the ghetto but they like to venture out and get on everyones nerves. Almost impossible to go to the movies now days too. Unless it's 11:00 AM.
@madefrom9 Wow, I'm sorry to know you're witnessing the negativity like that. It's like the old saying "We just can't have anything nice"...so true. As for the movies, I've given up on them years ago. Give me a DVD and I'm cool.
Everywhere "used" the be a great place until "those elements" are introduced. I hate them, myself. Fucking up everything they interact with, raising and lowering rent and mortgages. You KNOW it's bad when you have to CREATE rules for them to control themselves.
@MeanBlackDude Agreed MBD, and the city continues pumping tax dollars into dead projects like Underground Atlanta, which was modeled after Baltimore's vastly superior 'Harborplace'. Also, 'U.A.' is directly across the street from Atlanta's main subway station (Five Points), so all the 'crap' pours into the district 24/7, and the police force is simply a sick joke. The thugs and thugettes run the sh*t!
Don't ask me why I watched that shit ....:-(............figured it would be that kind of mess/shit ...and I'm sure it was over some triflin boy ...............other than that I have no proper comment .......with respect!
@Backatwon Thanks for watching, and use this video as a warning to avoid Underground Atlanta or Five Points if you ever visit the city. It's a shame you missed out on what Underground Atlanta used to be. Peace
@seand67 Oh no I have been to the ATL ....and saw it (the underground) back in it's heyday ....actually was there for some of the Olympics in 1996..............so I know how it was . Respect!
I think much of Atlanta died when the 90's left. I used to drive down from Nashville (in college) to visit my family and kick it in Atlanta all the time. Always had a special feeling when I was there. Went back last yr for the first time in years and it wasn't the same. The feeling was gone.
I co-sign on the Underground, I was disappointed at what I saw. A lot of my friends and family are still out there though
@LegendaryFLA Thanks for watching and I appreciate your comments about how U.A. was during the 90's. There is nothing positive or attactive about the place. I REALLY tried to be open minded during a recent visit, but the whole area is nothing but a septic tank. Atlanta needs to give it up. It's over!
Damn Sean, all of that & for what? Just a lack of home training & trying to prove something that don't need to be proven!!! They should be embarrassed & ashamed for acting like that!!!
@thruthealcove And Kev, negative episodes like that pop off more often than they'd like to admit. U.A. USED to be on point, but I tell everybody to avoid it like the plague. The place has nothing of value, unless you're interested in all things 'Hood', etc. When you come to Atlanta, AVOID the Underground/Five Points area. You've been warned.

I watched the video. It's just shit. Those women are acting like violent hyena's. This country is going to hell in a hand basket. Very unfortunate

@JazzyZenBrotha Yeah, it's a shame, and this isn't just some isolated incident.

I haven't hit the underground since '04/05. It's gone down that pitifully? WOW. I must return to ATL, and soon. It seems that folks have lost their minds at a acellerated rate. I've got to come back and clean it up.
IG2HI 1 year ago 3
@IG2HI You don't need to visit Underground or anything near Five Points. Yes, they'v lost their minds, and that place has nothing for you.
seand67 1 year ago
@seand67 Then again, you may be right. Thank God for brothas like you who do have the conciousness and passion to let the powers-that-be in ATL to get off their high horse, get on the stick and bring this city back to its former greatness.
IG2HI 1 year ago
@IG2HI Gotta warn good people about the pitfalls out there. ATL is funked up as U.A./FIve Points serves as a good example of such. I may go down there and shoot some footage for those who don't believe it's nothing but a Ghetto Armpit...RIGHT IN the middle of Downtown ATL. Dayam

@seand67 It's just a season. Keep up hope that someone will wake up to what is going on and will muster up the courage to clean it up.

Sad.
madefrom9 1 year ago 4

Unless it's 11:00 AM.
madefrom9 1 year ago
@madefrom9 Wow, I'm sorry to know you're witnessing the negativity like that. It's like the old saying "We just can't have anything nice"...so true. As for the movies, I've given up on them years ago. Give me a DVD and I'm cool.

Everywhere "used" the be a great place until "those elements" are introduced. I hate them, myself. Fucking up everything they interact with, raising and lowering rent and mortgages. You KNOW it's bad when you have to CREATE rules for them to control themselves.
MeanBlackDude 1 year ago 2

Respect!

@Backatwon Great, I look at all of my photos I took back then and just shake my head. What a waste.

LegendaryFLA 1 year ago 3
@LegendaryFLA Thanks for watching and I appreciate your comments about how U.A. was during the 90's. There is nothing positive or attactive about the place. I REALLY tried to be open minded during a recent visit, but the whole area is nothing but a septic tank. Atlanta needs to give it up. It's over!
seand67 1 year ago
Damn Sean, all of that & for what? Just a lack of home training & trying to prove something that don't need to be proven!!! They should be embarrassed & ashamed for acting like that!!!
thruthealcove 1 year ago 3
@thruthealcove And Kev, negative episodes like that pop off more often than they'd like to admit. U.A. USED to be on point, but I tell everybody to avoid it like the plague. The place has nothing of value, unless you're interested in all things 'Hood', etc. When you come to Atlanta, AVOID the Underground/Five Points area. You've been warned.
