  • Oh Driscoll - you are so short sighted! If you actually read the bible in it's true context it clearly states that women are leaders. Open your eyes and your heart and repent.

  • Awesome clip lol wow He is so real and thats what we need real leaders who will tell you the truth in love

  • @SuperGoofy18,

CONTINUED... If this is the guy I'm supposed to be like when I "man up" and "be who God called [me] to be" then I'd rather not have anything to do with your God, Driscoll, you, or anyone else who can't see through the rhetoric of fear, self-loathing and hypocrisy that American evangelicalism promotes on a daily basis. And yeah, I use the word fuck. Just like Driscoll, the "swearing pastor."

  • @SuperGoofy18,

So I'm supposed to build this guy up? What about the sexism inherent in his use of "feminine" as a negative label? What does that portray to the godly women in his congregation about their inherent value as human beings? What about the fact that he labels men (god fearing, women loving men) as homosexuals (offensive on at least 2 levels, both those men and to those struggling with queer identity in his congregation) just because they aren't barbarically masculine?

  • I bet if this guy had his way, there would be crosses on every street corner, and a line of 'sinners' waiting to take their place on them, with help from his 'christian' toadies. No wonder the world is so screwed up, with this 'man' and his unbending theology ready and willing to stay firmly locked into the Dark Ages.

  • The 40% that are dudes are still just ... chicks. LOL

  • He's only talkin about men because they are meant to be the leaders of the church according to the bible. He's not degrading women whatsoever

  • mark driscoll is a fucking pig. I'm a 'dude' who believes in god, guns, and climbing mountains, as well as the inherent power, equality and strength of women. This guy doesn't speak for me or Christ.

  • @lishsboy if you believe in God why are you not doing what he says. Ephesians 4:29

Plus swearing, really? Man up dude. Be who God called you to be.

  • This person believes you can only be innovative and have leadership potential if your a young male! I guess the young women are only good for being " barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen". For many centuries it has been ONLY males who have been Ministers/Pastors of the churches- THERE lies the problem- and the most obvious lack of innovation!

  • @houseuponarock no the problem is people who comment on youtube videos and do not go out and do something. MAKE WAR, ever listen to John Piper watch his clip "Make War'. Confront your brothers and sister in Christ , don't belly ache. Confront them - Matthew 18:15, but do it in the spirit of gentleness - Galatians 6:1, then forgive them - Colossians 3:13 , Don't talk bad about them -Ephesians 4:29, and do NOT get into a battle of who is better than who -Philippians 2:3-4, also Hebrews 10:24

  • I too like this dude, his style of preaching, and his humor. Unfortunately, his doctrine is too rooted in the Old testament. Its like Christianity is only a cover for Pharisaical teaching. His teaching puts Christianity back into the stone age.

  • @goldenscales It worked back then didn't it. I'm not saying it's right, dont get me wrong. I'm just saying we have fallen very far from the first church. Think about what can make it better. Dont just comment on video's get out there and do something to change it.

  • He's right. The music really does suck and the men are basically soft / homosexual guys that really love going to church all the time. I personally could never do that. But the church I went to in the U.S. I had around the same percentage of men to women. The pastor focused on maintaining/growing the male presence in the church

  • AWESOME and TRUE!!!!!

  • "Love it" wish I could spend the day with Mark and hear more truth.

  • I love Mark's book, Confessions....

But this video clip immediately puts me on the defense. How in the world can anyone - including Mark - put God in a box by assuming Church Planters have to have a certain temperament. In God's economy, it's all about obedience. The practical challenges he puts out is good: like drawing younger dudes and being a real man...etc.

  • You can all say what you want but, in the end we win the war.

  • Wow. This is the truth if I have ever heard it.

  • This guy is RIGHT!

  • I love this dude, He is bold and tells it how it is. People of the world wont understand this message he delivered because obedience unlocks understanding, and if you are of the world and you havent been delivered from sin, how can you see where this guy is coming from?

Preach it Brother, I got your Back !!!!!

  • Word up Mark. This dude is on point. Angelnas and the haters out there, read your Bibles and check before you make those comments. Or try comming to Philly and seeing how the Muslim men and recruiting young men. Ignorant fools. Look at the world around you! Everyone should know Christ is Supreme and is a rugged brotha.

  • I completely agree with everything he is saying. People are gonna argue that he is being misogynist but I think that's a narrow-minded view of what he's saying. We should be incredibly grateful that lots of women have given their lives to Christ. I love that, but the Church needs male, masculine leadership.

  • The man is the head of his household, so get the men and you get the whole family. This isn't saying wifes should keep quiet and follow their husbands like drones. Ephesians 5 paints a beautiful picture of this. The modern world somehow came to the conclusion that equality means the same. I believe in equality but I don't believe that the roles of men and women should be the same.

  • pity Mark driscoll's sermon on under authority like Christ isn't here on youtube it's on google. really really good

  • Why look at the things in an outer perspective? Where is his facts coming from (clearly not from the Bible)? His own visual perspective and adding on the demographics? I'm surprised what most of you all written on this comment.

  • What the? You all agree with him? Young men gets everything? "If you don't get the young men, you don't get nothing" ... what the ?? Where is the equality? And the Church is feminine? I think he is all about patriarchy. I know/there are tons of "dudes" that go to Church who have crazy backgrounds, who watch football, who works on their cars, who eats fast food, etc. (if you want to stereotype), and guess what? THEY GO TO CHURCH not because it is feminine, they go to CHURCH FOR JESUS!

  • Dude, what he is saying is that church would be more appealing to guys if it was more masculine.

  • I don't think you understand what he's saying.

  • Girlified men. Yeah, that's about right. New Zealand: the land where the men are men ... and so are most of the women. Actually, that is utterly fictional me thinks.

  • "most churches are built to cater to 40 something year old women. and their children, and the guys are nowhere to be found" = brilliant

  • Yep, I think, and I bet he does too, the major problem within churches is armenianism.

  • Try digging up Mark's sermon called "Unlimited Limited Atonement" from the Mars Hill site. That should tell you how he feels about arminianism.

  • Thanks -interesting exposition of 2 peter 2. Felt like he sorta just word magicked the arminians into calvinism. Pretty smooth

  • That's stupid, read Galatians. Armeniansm is a secondary matter, Calvinist vs. Armenianist is pointless distraction from the Gospel. Personally I'm a 5 point Calvinist but it makes no difference, if somebody is a 5 point Armenianist but loves Jesus, I'd happily support that persons ministry. The Bible isn't clear about these matters, you could argue for either side so focus on what the Bible is clear about, love people, share the gospel and win as many as possible.

  • Grace isn't a secondary matter. Gods sovereignity has tremendous practical implications. If not put in proper perspective it imbalances the entire ecosystem. Most saliently in practice, when people feel responsible for choosing Christ they become prideful and look down at everyone. Armenianism turns the Gospel into religion. The Bible absolutely is clear about these matters although they may not be as easily understandable as others.

  • Yeah but an Armenianist could say the same thing. There's scripture that could be argued for both sides. Armenianism does not undermine grace or God's sovereignty, I personally don't agree with it but all I'm saying is don't get caught up in these stupid debates (which I am more or less right now). These matters divide Christians and Churches. continued...

  • Arriving at a conclusion is fine, it's probably good to think about these things but we get so caught up in this shit that we start preaching Calvinism rather than Jesus.

  • my girlfriend just found out that I believed in predestination. I told her I was reformed, but she didn't know what that ment. Now She's crazy hateing the idea. It doesn't affect salvation in the practical sence.

  • ROCK!

    (Like the cornerstone)

  • wonderful and encouraging!

  • ah crap too many good lines to quote.

best one: church is 60% chicks and 40% dudes that are really chicks.

  • Totally agree about what this guy says about young men in the church. Spot on!
