@joekicker51 I have always wanted to learn Choctaw because all through my life I wanted to learn my great grandparents and great great grandparents language but nobody in my family seemed that interested but I am still interested even though those grandparents are long gone physically. Do you have any suggestions?
...hmmm... a quarter of a million dollars for the ex-wife... to spend with Sancho... and to drink margaritas... and to wake-up naked on the beach... somewhere in Ensenada Mexico...
...and as far as when the Yankees fly their POW-MIA-flag... then they are only celebrating and honoring those who die... but if your alive... then nobody cares... and the psychologist will give you brain-mends... to make you even more emotionally-unstable... and so when you come back... so you will commit suicide...and the life-insurance-money($250,000.00) ...goes straight to the wife/mother/kids... etc. ...hmmm... so lets cancel the insurance policies... and lets be worth more alive then dead!
...so again... today's humanity is beyond stupid... and most of the Western-World is doing methamphetamine and cocaine... and this includes the Yankee-Law-Enforcement... becase those at the top-of-the-food-chain of Law Enforcement... many of them were the rich-kids of former-military-men... yet their own mothers spoiled them rotten... and this is why our humanity is so fucken stupid and sexually active... and religion ONLY makes it worse... and we all can be as talkative as me.... ONLY the MEN!
...oops... they did quickly adapt... and they quickly GOT/became smart... and when you have Native Americans talking the same way as me... and pissing-off the Yankees at home... and pissing-off the local-lazy-cops and sheriffs... then they automatically were hated... becase Law Enforcement HATES smart-men... or anyone who can speak for him self... and to prove his point... and to get his point across... and the REAL Native Vets learned fast... becase they had to... becase everyone was smart!
...becase combat-vets were detained... and isolated... and many of them committed suicide after being treated so bad... hmmm... becase when you do so many good things... and soldier-duty-stuff... and even if you never kill anyone... and save men... and save the wounded on both sides... then just being-a-combat-vet branded them a danger to the US Government... and many of them did quickly adapt... from the exposure to iron... and quickly go smart... but when they came back... their home was gone!
...becase it seems that everyone on the planet was brain-fucked by propaganda to hate the Bad-Devil aka the Bad-German... and again... no more religion... hmmm... becase the Soviets also made good-use of those Alaskan-people... or the Northern/Canadian tribes who were so primitive... and isolated... that they had no idea what they got them selves in to... and many of them regretted it... becase when they came-back... and back to civilization... then most of their good-deeds were punished!
...and what is scary and disturbing... is that many of those angry-natives stayed and settled in Europe... and in Germany... to watch-over the angry-devil... and the Native-Americans were baptized centuries ago... and they have lost track of reality centuries ago... and today's modern Native-fantasy world is as real as Disneyland... and again... WE... HUMANS were a lot more advanced(mentally) ...and even though out technology seemed primitive... our brains/minds made the most use of our NOGGEN!!
...so again... no more religion... and more iron/metal... and maybe someone can go and explain to them what iron is... and why it's so important to have iron in your blood... becase with out iron... then you WILL bleed to death... hmmm... and one bullet... will have a Native American bleed-to-death... and he will bleed-out all of his blood... and maybe a even a paper-cut will kill the grate-buffalo... HA?! ...hehehe... stupid-natives... so STOP listening to Hilary Clinton!!!
Very cool, I just read on wikipedia that there are about 16,000 speakers of Choctaw, that is a pretty good number compared to some tribes! Do a lot of you still speak it amongst each other?
@pazuzu126 Thank you! Unfortunately, I have not encountered too many people who I can speak with. However, I am working in Ada for the summer and I have encountered some Chickasaw elders who I have spoken to in Choctaw. Let me be the first to say, it was such a heart felt moment.
I was just browsing youtube looking for an example of the Choctaw language. I clicked on this video, and after about ten seconds I realized that I recognized you. Ha. That's a fun coincidence. Anyway, nice job.
@joekicker51 At the time, I was just looking for a Choctaw sample to show someone what it sounds like. I'm starting a Ph.D at the University of Arizona in August, and I'll probably be doing a lot of work on American languages while I'm there. Hopefully one that hasn't been very well studied or documented.
To answer your question, no, the Choctaw Nation does not issues out per cap money. The reasoning behind this is because the Choctaws, similar to my tribe, the Chickasaw Nation, put more money into education, health, and economic development which in turn keeps the money circulating within the tribe, rather than to the citizens which would leave the nation.
@redtail122 I agree with what you are saying but I don't think you should stop something simply because it is the most common. I am sure there are people out there who know more than just Amazing Grace, but for those who do not, expressing the songs we do know is still an effort to try and revitalize the language and songs. An effort is an effort, big or small.
I recently had to learn this in my tribes youth leadership summer camp.
Ms. Martha Redbone taught me and about....30 of my cousins this and many other fun songs ^^ (though we are houma and we speak the Houma-french dialect (me also speaking a bit of Mobilian))
Holito. i was wonderin if u cud teach me sum of my native language which is choctaw languae. im half black n half choctaw n i feel that its very important for a person to be deep into their root.
Ome. : ] Afama illapat achukma tok fehna. Tushkahumma 2009 ish ia ho?
Joseph, there should be more young Chickasaws and Choctaws following your example. You have much to be proud of and the future of the tribes depends on people like us.
Yakoke for those kind words. I really do try my best to keep the language alive and to educate people about our culture and heritage. I am a junior at the University of Oklahoma and I am majoring in Native American Studies.
@joekicker51 Are you kin to the late JB Keel. He went to the same church as I when my dad pastored at Ravia OK. He was a great bass singer in my opinion

By the way, are you learning the Choctaw language or doing a project around the Choctaw people or something?
