I am a animal management student this is a abnormal behaviour and is not funny at all it is a sign this animal is in great stress it is NOT normal for polar bears to 'dance' if they do generally it is this weaving behaviour which is a good sign they are going a little bit crazy due to a lack of mental stimulation or they have been beaten until they do dance (old circus) im glad to see so many people are taking pleasure and laughing at this poor animals suffering

This is real sad, this poor bear who should be roaming millions of square KMs is confined in a cage 1/millionth the size he needs, he is going mentally ill this is the cause of this behavior.

This is an edited video people! the bear is not stressed. The video goes on a lop back and forth for various seconds. The sound is re-mastered, that's why it looks like the bear is dancing an people are looking while it happens. Cool stuff, but the bear is not stressed,well, at least not that anyone can easily tell.

This actually is a case of a nervous habit brought on as a result of captivity. I've seen the polar bears at my local zoo do this as well. It's real, not edited, and very distressing when you really stop and think about it.

Every animal goes crazy in it's own way. Humans and other primates rock in a fetal position, elephants sway, cats pace back/forth, horses do weird head bobbing. I guess this must be a polar bear way of losing it. This is sad anyway. The bear needs a bigger enclosure or to be put to sleep ):

this bear has clearly gone insane from being kept in confinement for so long, the continuous movement of its head back and fourth and the pacing prove this. its extremly cruel to keep this animal in such a small space for so long with nothing to stimulate it.

Also fish and other foods in their natural habitat are becoming scarce. So its both safe and unsafe in the zoo's. But they're safer in zoo's than in the wild. So please settle your differences and say your both right and stop arguing over a small one minute video!

I think your all right. Because some animals DO go insane in zoo's but this guy just looked like he was having fun. Maybe his trainers taught him that to sort of play with him. But it is also true that some zoo's need upgrades so they look more like their natural habitat. But it is also true that it isn't safe to put them out in the wilderness. From the global warming and people from small villages shooting them its unsafe for them.

Yes, all you people saying how sad it is should mount a rescue mission and spring that poor bear from it's enclosure, fly it back to the north pole and drop it off! Free it from it's madness and allow it to return to the wild where it now has to fend for itself, hunt and deal with polar ice caps melting and having to swim farther and farther for food!

I take an active part in many activities through an organisation called Zoo Watch and through this kind of campaigning and education zoos are improving.
