I am a animal management student this is a abnormal behaviour and is not funny at all it is a sign this animal is in great stress it is NOT normal for polar bears to 'dance' if they do generally it is this weaving behaviour which is a good sign they are going a little bit crazy due to a lack of mental stimulation or they have been beaten until they do dance (old circus) im glad to see so many people are taking pleasure and laughing at this poor animals suffering
Well, if he's bored and doing this as a reaction to him being bored, I see only one solution: lock a zookeeper in there with him. He won't be bored or hungry for a little while.
This is real sad, this poor bear who should be roaming millions of square KMs is confined in a cage 1/millionth the size he needs, he is going mentally ill this is the cause of this behavior.
There is nothing funny about this, the Sad part is humans who have posted on this video thinks it funny.
This poor animal is just like all trapped animals in Zoos around the world, it's FREAKING Animal Prison!
its good to see that some people are smart inof to see that he is not doing this for fun...but because he is bored, and probally have a bit stress...so no...no dancing so not funny...but sad...
This is an edited video people! the bear is not stressed. The video goes on a lop back and forth for various seconds. The sound is re-mastered, that's why it looks like the bear is dancing an people are looking while it happens. Cool stuff, but the bear is not stressed, well, at least not that anyone can easily tell.
This actually is a case of a nervous habit brought on as a result of captivity. I've seen the polar bears at my local zoo do this as well. It's real, not edited, and very distressing when you really stop and think about it.
Horses chew their boxes when bored/lonely/distressed...
This is the Polar Bear version.
This is isn't funny and should never be laughed. And for those of you that DO find it funny...take a good, long hard look at yourself. You find an animals torment (yeah, it's so board it WEAVING to entertain itself) funny.
I don't find this funny at all, this bear is exhibiting neurotic behaviors. It's bored and frustrated and it's really, really sad. Shows how awful the conditions are in some of our countries zoos. Makes me want to cry.
wow look at how unhealthy that bear is. he hasent got enough neutrients and his gone all skinny that his skin is dangling near his tummy. Poor bear. his out of his mind. His not dancing his just not sane anymore.
Every animal goes crazy in it's own way. Humans and other primates rock in a fetal position, elephants sway, cats pace back/forth, horses do weird head bobbing. I guess this must be a polar bear way of losing it. This is sad anyway. The bear needs a bigger enclosure or to be put to sleep ):
this bear has clearly gone insane from being kept in confinement for so long, the continuous movement of its head back and fourth and the pacing prove this. its extremly cruel to keep this animal in such a small space for so long with nothing to stimulate it.
Also fish and other foods in their natural habitat are becoming scarce. So its both safe and unsafe in the zoo's. But they're safer in zoo's than in the wild. So please settle your differences and say your both right and stop arguing over a small one minute video!
I think your all right. Because some animals DO go insane in zoo's but this guy just looked like he was having fun. Maybe his trainers taught him that to sort of play with him. But it is also true that some zoo's need upgrades so they look more like their natural habitat. But it is also true that it isn't safe to put them out in the wilderness. From the global warming and people from small villages shooting them its unsafe for them.
Yes, all you people saying how sad it is should mount a rescue mission and spring that poor bear from it's enclosure, fly it back to the north pole and drop it off! Free it from it's madness and allow it to return to the wild where it now has to fend for itself, hunt and deal with polar ice caps melting and having to swim farther and farther for food!
Point is: Yeah, it sucks, but he probably wouldn't be much happier in the wild, so shut the hell up.
The point is that it is possible to keep polar bears in zoos without them being so bored that they end up virtually insane from frustration and boredom like this poor bear. It's oppressive of you to suggest that people should "shut the hell up" just because you don't agree with what they say. Voice your opinion but remember other people also have the right to voice theirs.
No, My point is, is that you can voice your opinion all you want, I'm not going to stifle you. But your opnion will be in vain, since talking about how sad it is on a website like YOUTUBE isn't going to magically cure his insanity. It's pointless, move on with your life.
You assume that comments on youtube are the only action that people like myself are taking. Assumptions are often wrong. Perhaps basing you comments on what you know is a better idea. Plenty of people campaign for the improvement of zoo animals lives. I take an active part in many activities through an organisation called Zoo Watch and through this kind of campaigning and education zoos are improving.
But your type of comment is not unusual. You state your opinion with such arrogance. The implication is that those with a different opinion are wrong, foolish and/or sad. Why can't you voice your opinion whilst keeping in mind others may not be of the same mindset? I think it's refreshing that we see the world from different perspectives. If you appreciate that then it is easy to have objectivity.
over 11000 people have watched this, so talking about it will raise people's awareness and help people to see that the bear is suffering....not dancing.... making cazzamcspazza's comments far from pointless
i was really suprised to hear u say u think this bear would'nt be much happier in the wild, till i visited ur profile and saw u spend ur days back on the farm shooting ur guns...do u only shoot boxes or like most rednecks would u blow away anything that moves?...... u could probably put the bear out of its misery?
i dont think its funny to take a wild beautiful animal out of its natural surroundings ,put it in a zoo ,how u like to bedarted in the ass wake up in unfamiliar surroundings ,40 degree heat stared at pointed at . i guess its all about MONEY.shameful.
I can only hope that whoever posted this and those that find it amusing are stupid kids who don't know any better. This video is not funny it's cruel beyond belief. Get an education.
How can u say people have taken it way2far and way to seriously!!! why are u even comparing it 2 child abuse!! thats seperate issue u cant compare them 2 each other they are both cruelty and both need 2 stop...
I dont think its just teenagers who are saying what they think its people of all ages darling....
If your to blind to see that this video is disgusting and disturbing the fact that, that poor bear is actually going insane cos its not in its natural habitat then i feel sorry for u!!
this is really dumb whoever posted this...it's not even a full video its the bear doing it for like 10 seconds and you replaying it over and over again the same movement backwards then forwards...get a life
People, this isn't entertaintment. This is a poor animal cooped up in conditions completely unlike its natural habitat. It has literally gone insane. I'm only glad that a good number of people here on youtube recognise what is going on here, though far too many find this kind of thing amusing.
It's bad enough that we turn a blind eye to this kind of thing, but to laugh at it? That is beyond inhumane, it's barbaric.
