  • Honestly you need to put some more time lag between when you press the button and order the strike to when the actual rounds hit, Those mortar rounds are more or less the heavy "educated guess its that or SP artillery like the paladin" 120mm type and are fire from a fairly long distance so thus a goo 30+ sec time lag is needed for it to make sense and also add a degree of difficulty.

  • @Phenixtri Well, true, but think about it. Although maximum realism in a game is quite awe inspiring, you don't want too much of a delay between pressing FIRE and the rounds landing. You could be having to hit a moving target, and with a 30 second delay, you could easily miss, and by then, whatever your trying to hit could kill you in that time.

Plus its not hard to lead you targets and its hard to miss with a mortar barrage to begin with. Tho I guess to keep its fair and balance a 10-15 sec delay could also work as it would just mean that the mortars are a bit closer presumably in Marine Fire bases or FOBs.

  • @Phenixtri actually it can reach you. it will go right up the Handicap style ramp and your only safety was to jump in the water tank behind you. (I was playing dodge the airstrikes, run from garg yesterday)

  • Ideas:

    If there are grunts near by, or there is a radio near by or in a room, you will hear the captain say "Move out of the area, we are Air Striking that area!". The grunts will clear the field and move into a building. If Gordon cross paths with them, they will try to push him into the field, or just point-blank shoot at him.

  • @TheTerminator248 It's not the hud's big. I think they just filmed the footage on smaller resolution, so no detail gets lost during video conversion. Comparing with an other screenshot it seems they really captured this on 640x480. Because the hud and on-screen text and menus are almost never resized to preserve quality they seem big on such low resolution, even though it's standard sized.

  • they're not wasting time, they're perfecting it. They're putting way more detail and care into this than even valve has done with HL2.

  • It's pretty much confirmed to be the very end of 2009. Unless something goes wrong and they feel they absolutely most delay it. They have continually said 2009 though, so we can hope.
