新幹線 Shinkansen passing Atami station at 200kph!

From Himeji westbound on Sanyo shinkansen line, when the shinkansen passes the station, it does @ full speed:

Series 300 270km/h, Series 500: 300km/h Series 700 285km/h and series N700: 300km/h

I was at Himeji station when several train went through, a lot faster than this. The whole station shakes as it's built on a metal frame!

The speed is impressive, but I expected that, given they're nicknamed "bullet" trains and all. What was really impressive to me is the frequency of the trains. Two tracks, one for each direction, and the trains arrive only a few minutes apart. That's impressive at slower speeds, but just amazing at these speeds. The wide angle of this video also tends to give the impression that the train is moving slower than it actually is.

true dat. it was less than a half of the full speed
