  • Epic!

  • Really? This was number one the day I was born? How embarrassing. Wish I were born in the mid-90s.

  • @CamilleInPink @thatsgorg This was no 1 on my birthday too!

  • Number 1 on the day I was born :D

  • This is *the* 80s-90s transistion track.

  • It says a lot when one of the most coherent 'Dance' songs is simply saying 'I fancy you'. This fact exposes how shallow ravers are. In my opinion ravers are the scum of the Earth. No morals,no decency, no honour- all wankers.

  • Great times at Cee Farrow's club APT in LA. A real awakening into the world of high energy & quality music.

  • Makes me laugh how they are so obviously miming but having a great time

  • dermot bought me here!!!

  • Bring back the Keytar!

  • Loved this back when I was 8 still do actually its stood the test of time better than most tunes of the same decade.

  • Scream for daddy! What a tune!

  • essa musica eu lembro da minha cunhada cilene de tupa dançando....

  • Good Dance at this time!

  • one of the brightest moments in dance music history!

  • sooo wrong music video their playing aint in sync with the music.. totally epic fail.. /faint. nothing wrong with the music no i love that song :P but their coreography SUCKS! tbh.

  • One of the first songs to grace my tape walkman :)

  • In the days when dancing was turgid but the music was gettin good...

  • muy original para su tiempo y sigue siendo bueno ahora

  • When dance music had an attitude and an energy.

    Now its life-less crap.

  • @cheekyleopard:

Come on mate, don't be negative it's just a generation thing.

I was there and was first hour big fan when this song came out. And you know what? when comparing S'Express to George Clinton some older guys already said things like 'music had an attitude and an energy' back then.

Funnily i am pretty sure todays kids who listen to what you call 'life-less crap' will say exactly the same about what new generations of 2031 will listen.

  • @Ndriana Strongly agree, when i was loving toons like this as a 14 year old all i heard was 30-40 year olds label my music 'rubbish' & 'its all bang bang bang' Now im 36 i see my friends (who are the same age) label today's dubstep/dance music 'rubbish' & 'its all bang bang bang' Each to their own but age brings a narrow minded intolerence to modern music. No offence intended of course:0)

  • @cheekyleopard it was all better the music, the drugs, the fun, now its just recycled crap

  • @SuperSimonuk Yes it is recycled. So what? Recycling is about making new music with old music. This is exactly the DNA of House Music.

S-Express recycled music, "Theme From S-Express" is basicaly a rearranged bunch of samples from various tracks. You have already heard about 'sampling' right?

  • @Ndriana

I dont recall saying anything negative about s express, infact i had the album and remember many nights at the fridge and kinky gerlinky in the late eighties having a good time

  • @cheekyleopard you just listen to the mainstream crap.

  • awesome song. in the top ten for sure

  • Same guys and girls, was 13 here when this came out. Wow, 3 minutes watching this just brought back 2 years of memories of my teen life. Great stuff. (although the music is still great I can't agree on the performance now.. lol)

  • @ themachman19691 - If anyone ever invents that time machine, I want to be on it ! Ah, memories...

  • Damn I Feel Old Listening To This As I Am Old As This Song 23 years Old

  • @KiranTaker270 oh god, yes, me too- I was 14 when it came out, went, bought the record and sneaked off to my first dancing nights.

  • My claim to fame is I slept with this girl - not sure why I am telling anyone - showing off I guess. She had her gold record for this down the back of a cupboard and not on the wall. Just met her in a pub on Portobello road.

  • Love it!

  • Pop isnt dead, tastes changed music moved on you didnt. stop blaming pop ffs. the music today is as shit as its ever been, theres still the same number of filler tracks in the top 40 as there was back then. every song of the 80s wasnt a hit....

  • choooooon *thumbs up* lurrrv lurrrv xxx

  • i was lucky enough to be young and clubbing when this was out, ahhhh the memories.time machine please....

  • old skool roland yeeaahh!!

  • Ppdix, have you seen what OSCars fetch now? Serious money!

  • uowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww so gooodddd

  • Countdown is progressing... 1 2 1 2 3 4...

This is "really" a remake of 1974's Crystal Grass' Crystal World.

303's, Rose Royce, Karen Finley, Stacy Q Samples... Brilliant!

I remember watching it for the first time at TOP and then heard it again at the club. It blew me away... Still one of the best acid tracks in history!

  • A real classic! This was stunning in 88 and still is today. Great view of the OSCar at 2.00

  • @LeeStaffs1 I had an OSCar and a Memory Moog back then...

  • I Rember this when it was in the charts in 88. bbc.2 or 1, can't rember which, it was the year it had a light bulb circuling the 1 or 2 sign in 88. Disco. Played at bridgwater somerset fun fair in 89 as well. Also Foweards from that.

  • WOW.....what can I say ....song was a great hit during my dancing days. Still love it.

  • louco esse som

  • I used to dance to this

  • Best year of my f*cking life

  • Ha ha great fun, they are all just playing as nobody actually plays any instruments, it's all samples, nice trumpet by the way !

Marc Moore is a friendly person by the way.

  • bwooohaaahhhh... Love this music!! Doesn't it still sound cool?? Quality of recording could have been better. @jondelanolondon; I don't know what you are talking about. Don't forget about Boney M, who were already totally styled in the seventies. Shall we organize a return up the bass party in London? I'll be on a plane in no time..

  • At first, I thought this was a very mean video, making fun of people with cerebral palsy. Then I realized it's just British people dancing. That's ok, then.

  • top tune. the x rated USA version woz better tho. the looks on peoples faces half way thru it woz brilliant haha

  • been lookin for this wow

  • fab tune :):)

  • Hee hee, they took out the dirty part of the song! I thought you Brits were all evolved and sophisticated and not bothered about sex and stuff! :)

  • @hippiehoperation Were you going to say something?

  • any comment on the masterpiece not needed!!!!

  • mark moore wat ya doin nowadays

  • "Tall chick is out of place"

  • Drop

    that

    ghetto

  • o-O this was number one the day I was born.....

  • It's amazing that the 80"s still rock!!! It's impossible not to dance when you listen to this music ... only if you're dead ... or def!

  • LOVE

  • This is awesome!!!

    Nobody's plugged in!!!

Still rockin House people in the party!!!!

  • Mr. Malo - S'express (Raindropz! Bootleg Mix)

    ;) :D

  • Yup

  • Tall, skinny dame, is that Sonique?

  • shut up that ghetto blaster!!

  • Thats It....Yeah!!!!!

  • Great song, even though they had a lot of nerve trying to pass off like they were singing

  • nice miming

  • great video....I still have the record

  • OMG!

    This is classic.

Remember dancing to this at my primary school disco. LOL.

  • The young mark moore, brilliant!!

  • Sampled, re-mixed using recycled unoriginal material with a heavy machine beat heralding the arrival of the 90's........ A decade without music (a bit harsh but there it is!)

  • a decade without music?! talking shit there.

  • fuck off ....

    you fucking hater..!

  • amazing cool music

  • I rememeber this tune when i was younger i love it :))

  • only becasue everything was done in the 80's, humans, not to complexe as we thought... anyway space thingy is still on its way.....poof

  • They don't make 'em like this anymore :(

  • I always liked this track, a real 80's Brit disco hit. The best bit, which I always listened out for most of all, was from 1.45 to 1.60mins. The backing beat is sheer brilliance.

    Thanks 4 the upload.

  • Yeah it was an awsome song way ahead of its time, how i miss the 80's disco!....christ im 38 now-(

  • Oooh!! Meu DEus!!! Thanks for giving me the oportunity to be hearing and watching for the first time who was singing this song, cause back in Brazil in Santos, the place I grew, we just had the albums, I never had a chance to watch they singing!! thANKS FOR THAT!!!

  • the 12" version is also brilliant - its got that rude "suck me off" sample in it!!

  • Uno Doce Thres , and Qautras was from one of Deborah Harry's song's. She's cool too, just like S'Express!

  • Yeah it's a cover, but a great cover!! I adore this song and it's better that Rose Royces version simply because this has energy!

  • The whole genre is based on sampling other people's music anyway (sample, loops), in order to create new styles.

  • err, not raining on anyone's parade .. that was the era when you could, swiftly (and rightly) followed by copyright actions.

In any event, the kids who liked it at the time (I was one then) couldn't give a rat's behind where the samples were from.

    Lighten up

  • Dude, it's not that serious. It was just a comment from where real music originates from. Don't get offended man, it was just a freakin comment. I love s-empress also, I grew up with it! Geeeeeeeeez

  • Not saying that I don't love the song, because I grew up listening to it, day in and day out on all the Chicago radio stations. It was and will always be a great track!

  • Oh some memories :)))) LOVE THE Eighties!!!

Best time for partying and music!!!

  • Don't forget the 90's!

  • Didn't they kill the 80's

  • Ass-Express? LOL AGHHAHAHAHAHAH

  • HE HEEEE! this is the one that started it.... This is why pop is dead now! can you imagine getting away with this on one of today's 'slick' 'knowing' 'fun' music shows? A bunch of mates get together (without the aid of a manager) and perform on the highest rated music show of the day without a stylist, choreographer, crack team of producers mastering their CD too loud OR a safety net?

  • I like the song, but think so you got the reason in what you said

  • this is the one that started what? if i think your on about house, then your wrong house was knockin about waaaay before this. also the rave scene was well alive and kickin by this time :) not arguin by the way :)

  • yeh I know house was around, but this is what bought it to the mainstream with style. I'm talking about cool pop. Unfortunately sony moved in on little Rhythm King (the label) sucked it's soul like all the other majors and before you knew it Rozalla was having hits and the world wept.

  • @jondelanolondon NO. pop is dead because the powers-that-be decided that pop music was empowering the ordinary people too much, so they killed it as an adult medium and re-packaged it as muzak exclusively for kids and tweens who wouldn't know any better - the old pop world allowed an incredible array of acts to flourish - s-express was like pop-house music - the real rubbish back then never got anywhere near the charts

  • @jondelanolondon wrong!

shannon - let the music play!

  • @jondelanolondon

Well said. Its the same with everything. We are like pre-packed meals getting made on a production line.

    The worlds going to shit.

The old days were so bad-ass its unreal.

  • fucking awsome!!!!

  • no the end of the beginning.the 80s will rule forever

  • lol.

  • The beginning of the end.

  • duke i am with u
