Zimbabwe wouldn't be at the bottom of the list if it wasn't for all the hyperinflation it has gone through lately, which horribly devalued the local currency vs. everything else. But... almost all of the poorest countries in the world are in Africa, most of those sub-saharan Africa.

Decolonization was absolutely the worst thing that happened to them ie Rhodesia to Zimbabwe. It worked almost everywhere except sub-saharan Africa.
