  • how much are one of these rifles?

  • @iiBALISTICii I've not seen one for sale in recent memory. Perhaps $450 or so?

  • @iiBALISTICii anywhere between $150-500 depending on condition.

  • i have the same one

  • I have one of these, my grandpa gave it to me. It's got a period correct weaver scope, but I've been hunting for a set of sights also - that's how I came across your video. Very cool.

  • Congrats on having one of these nifty old rifles! And even better that you got it from your grandfather, firearms with family connections are the most valuable.

  • i really like the video. thanks 5/5

  • Thanks!

  • Great!

    Cheers. David.

  • Thanks David!

  • G'day I still have to say, your videos are great, and the education you get off the elder shooters is one to cherish. The Savage model 19 was discontinued in 1923. Serial No under 25,000. Any No2 MkIV videos in the pipeline

  • I don't have a No 2 Mk IV, but I know someone who does, so there might be a video at some point. I'd really like to get a better camera before I do many more videos.

  • I like his accent

  • Is Fred British?

  • No, he's a Canadian, born and bred. He just has more of a maritime accent than most of us.

  • So there are Canadians who have British-like accents?

  • To me he doesn't sound the least bit like a Brit, he sounds, well, like a Maritimer. You need to visit the east coast of Canada, we have our own way of speaking - especially older folks or people from smaller communities.

  • I've only been to Ontario, & they all sound like people from northern NY to me, & of course the people from Quebec all sound French because....Well they speak it.

Yes, but I really do want to go back, it was a nice country.

  • Visit in the summer - it's much better than winter!

  • Very nice vintage fire arm looks more than what it is i was surprised it was a .22cal good video

i would like to see more of it what was the groping and what range were you shooting it looks like about 50 yards

  • Eamonn,

I think the the rifle was made to resemble a 1903 Springfield. I admit I'm a sucker for any .22 military trainer or look-a-like. We were shooting at 50 yards, and at that distance the rifle will put five rounds in an inch or less if it's not too windy. Next video we'll be sure to show some groups. With the camera I was using I couldn't do any editing so I used this clip as it was the most interesting. Fred has some other interesting rifles like an original 1905 Ross.

  • nice video shawn, 5/5

  • It's about as simple as a video gets, not titles, no music, no editing, only one shot. I was trying out a camera but it turned out that my editing software wont work with MPEG2 files so I took the camera back. At some point in the future I'll try to do another video on Fred's little rifle, one that shows more detail.

  • Hi Shawn,

Nice vid. When was that rifle manufactured?

  • I'm not sure exactly but I would say sometime in the 1930's.

  • .22 shorts?

  • No, we were shooting .22 Long Rifle, Winchester Dynapoint. The Dynapoint is nice accurate ammo for the price and is subsonic so there is no sonic "crack".
