don't play deus vult - the game is even easier that way. it adds vassalization which makes it possible to can conquer hre or byzantium simply by claiming duke titles and then vassalizing them one by one. This way you can conquer whole empires in one war.

@TheHistoryJohn I have a question for you. I tried playing a game from the first scenario as a small one province vassal that could form portugal. Is it possible to survive? Morish Spain is adjacent to me in all directions, most prominently lisboa, and my liege lord doesn't have the capacity to protect me against the onslaught of moorish heathens.

It's my first game and I kind of want to start from scratch and work my way to driving the moors from spain and forming portugal.

I'm sure this is a fabulous game, but my favourite is, by far, Europa Universalis 3 (including all the expansions).

Paradox Interactive might just be the best developer concerning grand- strategy games (personal view).

I don't like the way of playing , but that's because i like 2 see a empire come 2 life by building evry piece of it. But i can understand how people like these games. It has something it's yust an other way 2 conquer the enemy.

This is a magnificent game, the game I've been looking for many years. Now I'm playing a great game as the house of Barcelona...

its repetitive. theres nothing to do except conquering. theres no point bothering with buildings so theres no economic aspect.

you just conquer weak infidels to get prestige so you can conquer weak christians, then stronger infidels for stronger christians, etc

thats all there is to it - no challenge at all....

2 little things would make this game so much better:

-game automatically disbands all your army when you lose all your money

-you can't move through neutral territory

But it's the only game I know that recreate a political crysis. If you know the waknesses of the AI, then you can even cheat without cheating. But if you treat this game more like an RPG with a strategic component than a strategy game with RPG elements, then you have fun for hours. The dynastic issues, inheritances, rivalities, marriages, murders... it's like a Medieval soap opera game. Just great.

I mean that if you have a large kingdom and your heir is a little boy, many nobles can declare themselves independent, with or withour war. You can get stress and so and most of your nobles can declare war on you. You'll get crazy and probably won't recover all of your old vassals. And I think that the time of recovering and crysis is the funniest part.

never had that happen because i conquer everything with first 2-3 monarchs-thanks to all those useless pagans. and than i use those poor useless provinces to lower my badboy to both increase their loyalty and stop it from decreasing. In every region i keep the richest prov for myself and with a couple of loyal nobles i can keep my whole empire peaceful.

i had more problems with civil war in medieval tw than in ck. even with simple strategic part that game is much less repetitive.

You could also try to mary other's heirs to your heirs, that's a much better way to take over christian territory.

And it's a change from the conquering thing.

Well when you build big army just move it to enemy territory and if you win you can take the land if theres a castle you will need to capture it.The games is hard coz they've made it as most realistic as possible

Well i like Bulgaria coz im from there, and also Holy Roman Empire, France, Byzantium, Scotland and many more, but favorit i this ill chose Byzantium
