I have a question about this song. I stumbled upon this one and watch?v=oNtJvfGORVk Are these both the same songs? Stupid question but since I can't understand the language and sung different I can't really tell.
its a song about the fatalistic bravery of the norse. 2 men try to steer their ship ( stýrisvølurin means ship tiller after all ) back 2 land even though they know they won't survive the storm that's come upon them
that is not trou it is off a story that a ambasador from danmark. how was going back to the Faroe Islands and the a big storm hit them and they hit one off the 18 island in the Faroe Islands and on the top off the island he sow a woman standing there at looking at them, but i new very well how that woman was becaues hi had but her there him self becaues i had raped her 5 years befor they hit the island wool, and the is what the song is about.i ahve read the story in my school a year a go
well what do i know, then? i'm neither norse, faroe, nor do i speak the language. but i read the translation of the song, and that was what i got from it.
six mounts have passed, in which you have hold Grundin3's explanation as truth. and i must but you on the right track again. you are/where right! grundin3 has seriously mixed this song, with a Faroese novel from the 50's. this song is all about the bravery of Norse in the open seas.
@grundin3 that is not what the song is about at all! i have read that story too(rannvá).. the song is about life actually, that no matter what you try to accomplish, you cannot escape from the ultimate fate-death
the song is also about christianity, which Heri(the singer) is against.he says that we are slaves to itthe song is also very deep,so you cant really explain what some of it is about, because he uses old poems and parts of old songs, but i think youre supposed to use your imagination
This is similair to the old Viking music from history. Oh my God it is good.
