  • this show made me the nerd i am today !

  • I was a little kid and for some reason the theme song would scare me. I would hide behind a chair and my mom would turn it off.

  • ive looked for the TV series on e-bay. cant find it anywhere

  • It was coast to coast am before art and george

  • I remember my dad would watch this all the time when I was a kid. I miss the 70's.

  • i love this show when i was a kid. sometime it was pretty creepy and scary. nimoy has the right voice for such a show.

  • I loved this show. One of my favorite themes from the 70s

  • And then they did the movie of this series.... "In Search of...Spock!"

  • Easter island heads used to kinda freak me out as a kid

  • This show also gave birth to the radio show, Coast to Coast AM!

  • @OrlandoTruthfest ....which George Noory ruined.

  • Where are the Damn killer Bees they said were heading to the midwest from Mexico?!? Theory and conjecture means bull and shit. Some episodes were weak! In search of Casanova?! real episode.

  • I really liked this show. I learned a lot from it.

  • This show was so full of shit, but I adore it and wish I had them all on DVD.

  • audio is STILL out

  • The show that effectively gave birth to the paranormal tv genre.

  • @Mirokuofnite I think Kolchack: The Night Stalker was the first IIRC.

  • @SCROGY That was supernatural fiction. But what I was getting at is the 'reporting on the paranormal' Like this show did.

  • Did you know that the music for this show was composed by Rinder & Lewis? They even released a soundtrack under the name "In Search Of Orchestra".

  • My son mentioned "Nimoy" when we were talking about the show Sha Na Na saying how much Bowser looks like him and for whatever reason "In Search Of" had flashed in my mind. Wish the episodes were on YouTube... I'm def a product of the 80s and proud of it! they don't make shows like this anymore...just the crap reality ones that took over.

  • @tugboat21372 the 80's sucked especially 86-89, especially the music and sitcoms

  • @sixsixxsixxxx Yeah, sure they did...And let me ask, You were born on what planet and in what generation? That era was by far better than all what has taken place....at least since the turn of the century. What you posted your're either too young to of appreciated that time, deaf and blind, or all the above.

  • Hey guys i swear there was a newer version of this same name it came out on scifi but i search and only find the old version.

  • buy.com has it cheap. Make sure you get the ones with Nimoy in them.

  • HEY, FD

WHAT IN THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE AUDIO?!?... YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT'S BEING SAID!.......

  • DIDNT LEONARD NIMOY HOST THE SHOW

  • BRING THIS OUT ON DVD NOW !!!!!

  • crowleyman1000: I have the whole series on DVD (NTSC colour format).

  • @FrozenDoberman where did you get them ?

  • crowleyman1000: this was years ago. I can't trace the seller now because it was too long ago (~ 6 years). You can contact me off-list for more details.

  • @crowleyman1000 I have found sites that sell the series on DVD bootlegs, but it cost over $100 to get the entire series.

  • @crowleyman1000 And with the original intro as seen here and not that newer revised version from the nineties.

  • I must correct the two errors I made in my previous comment about the "In Search Of" Introduction to the TV series. The Introduction lists six (not five) of the titles of the books that were written in relation to the TV series, and I misspelled the name Landsburg.

  • The "In Search Of " Introduction to the TV Series interestingly only lists five of the titles of the books that were written by Alan and Sally Landsberg in relation to the TV series. There were 7 or 8 books that they wrote in relation to the TV series, one of which was called "The Outer Space Connection" which was the only book in the series of books that did not have the title "In Search Of".

  • I loved watching this show when I was younger and listening to Leonard Nimoy's excellent narration. One of the greatest TV Theme Songs in the history of television. The "In Search Of" books based on the TV Series are superb as well.

  • Was a great show but Zach and Nick on Ghost Adventures is awesome!

  • I didn't know that Amelia Ehrhardt crashed at Stonehenge . . . . Awful show, Great Intro.

  • This used to air back in the 80's in the morning and I would either pray for a snow delay or sometimes fake illness to stay home and watch it..lol Brings back some memories!

  • I loved this show, I wish they would re-release it on DVD or Blue Ray. I got Myths & Legends, still good

  • Wow, I'm instantly 11 years old again, watching this on WOR-TV with my cousin Bob. I loved this theme.

  • excelente en 1991 lo vi en costa rica x primera vez

  • OH MAN I loved this show as a kid. Although I have to admit that I was sometimes very creeped out by the content..

  • @EyeHateChoo Hahahah... you speak my own very thoughts!!!

I REALLY miss the atmosphere of that show...

  • Yeah this show was really just a big TOURISM COMMERCIAL - Ever since watching it wanted to visit the places they documented like Easter Island, Loch Ness and Stonehenge, Macchu Pichu and the Nasca Lines in Peru, Greece, etc!

  • I remember those hooded people in front of Stonehenge used to creep me out when i was a kid

  • Leonard Nimoy is awesome.

  • Loved watching this as a kid!

  • What countries was In Search of... shown in? I know of US, Canada, England, Australia and New Zealand. Any others?

  • @bodger1223 In most countries in Latin America (dubbed to spanish, of course) and it was very succesful, by the way!

  • @Tungstenum666 Cool, thanks! Glad to see it was so popular! Anyone know about Europe and Asia?

  • @bodger1223

Mexico and some Latin American countries.

  • been searchinghigh and low for the TV Series on Ebay

  • What good memories it was this Show that got me interested in this subject like UFOS, Big Foot Ghosts, ECT and Unsolved Mysteries like Zoddiac Killer and Jack the Ripper and DB. Cooper.. I wish this would come out on DVD.

  • I'm reminded of fond memories as child hearing and seeing this again. I used to watch this by myself when I would visit my grandmothers house up stairs after dinner. While the adults stayed downstairs and talked. Thanks for posting! :)

  • Some of my worst childhood nightmares were inspired by this series - like the screaming skull ;)

Still, tremendous memories - fascinating show - thanks for posting!

  • I watched this TV serial decades ago. It gave me knowledge and the way to think. But this type of TV programme are not very common these days.

Thank you for posting. It brings back some memories.

  • Mirrors my sentiments, and the consensus of the posters.

Regrettably, but for a handful of spots on the history channel, we are reduced to these silly reality shows. As you point out, at least In Search Of... taught us how to think.

  • great show. and MrMojo was right. Not a lot of good sci fi shows. You had this and Space 1999 (on syndication) and that was about it. Harlan Ellison's the StarLost was a great pilot , but wasnt picked up and neither was Roddenberry's Earth 2-Genesis series.

  • Buenísimo !! Deberían volverlo a dar en un canal como TCM por ejemplo.

  • Love this show! Brings back some many good memories!

  • Some episodes of this show scared the hell out of me! *eek*

  • good memories i miss those days badly

  • I feeling old right now.

  • Terrific show, memorable music, great host! We have nothing like it today....

  • Some of these gave me nightmares............the one on sea monsters and another one on aliens really freaked me out! Also.....wasnt there an episode on spontaneous human combustion.........or was that ripleys believe it or not?

  • this intro was embedded so hard into my brain when i was like 4 years old that the intro to the Death record "Human" instantly made me think of the sustained keyboard notes from this thing and the images. what a weird correlation. this intro use to give me the shivers. haha

  • This was actually a pretty good show. There weren't a lot of sci fi shows particularly in the 70's, but this one was pretty good and I used to look forward to seeing it on the weekends. It used to be on Channel 9 WOR-TV many years ago in New York City

  • Watching this show in the early 80's was part of my routine i was about 7 and 8 at the time and i wasn't scared by it, I did enjoy it though, then and now.

  • Thanks so much for posting this!

  • Ah man, I loved that show. Especially with Nimoy in it. That theme song really dates you. Another one is Mutual of Omaha commercial, I think their sponsers for Wild Kingdom, Awsome thanks for posting. Guam U.S.A.....

  • When I was a kid (early-90s), A&E used to show this weeknights at 7, but with their own custom intro. I found it quite interesting, but I loved "Unsolved Mysteries" as a child. :-)

  • I found this show a bit creepy........I was 6 when i saw it in 1981........I spent most of the show behind the sofa!

  • ditto!

  • this theme sounds a lot like "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories" theme song.

  • I used to be scared shitless of this show as a kid of about 7 years. Just hearing the intro again sends shivers down my back!! LOL

  • Watching the show now, it makes you wonder why it scared the shit out of a lot of us. Come to think of it, there were a lot of shows on in the 70's and early 80's that creeped kids out. Maybe it was the music, the still images in the intro, or something else, but these shows, and this one in particular, had a strange scary factor to them.

  • You described it perfectly for me. It definitely creeped me out, but for some strange reason, I was still drawn to it. Of course, A FEW NIGHTMARES LATER, I paid for that! LOL!

  • I love the intro music. It somehow fits well regarding the human spirit for exploration and facing the unknown. Not only that, it fits well with the series as well. :)

  • I know what you mean, Diabolik771. The Amelia Earhart episode where one guy claimed that she had assumed a new identity (Irene Craigmile Bolams) scared the living daylights out of me for some reason!

  • The Steve Miller Band song Swingtown has this theme in it.

  • I have told people the same thing, I used to watch this show all the time. Swingtown is one of my favorite SMB songs.

  • This show used to scare the hell out of me. That creepy music.

  • this was shown in Britain on ATV at 5.15pm on tuesdays during the late 1970's. that music and opening title sequence always stayed in my mind. a truly great series wonderfully narrated by nimoy. this captured my imagination. would love to see this out on DVD.

    many thanks for posting

    atvmidlands uk

  • I remember this one.

This program was something else. And Leonard Nimoy was great as the narrator.

  • he has one of those voices that is so recognizable that instantly you know who it is when you hear him

    great stuff

  • catchy theme tune. we had this in New Zealand in 1977. They dont make 'em like to use to!

  • Hands down, the best TV series-on-the-paranormal ever made!!!

  • @rocketcab Agreed

  • Best intro ever, another all time great is Riplys belive it or not.

  • I agree...the theme song is so freaky but catchy at the same time

  • This Show used to be on @ 10pm on sunday nights on channel 53

    here in Fresno

  • The version with the late Jack Palance?

Yeah, that was one of the shows back in the day!

  • It came on Sunday nights after Night Gallery on channel 7 here in Orange County. Remember when his daughter co-hosted with him? I think she also played the nanny who hung herself in the original Omen.

  • Jack Palance hosted Ripley's Believe it or Not! in the early 80s.
