  • you trip me up....eu amo esta banda.....a melhor dos anos 80; ao lado doa smiths....pshyco candy e um classico....

  • You know what song I can hear JAMC covering? The theme from "Good Times".

  • 1,000 thumbs up. Just to see everybody in the band fucked up/wasted for the entire video. And the beauty of it is that they were fucked on them all. The irony is in the beauty, anger, and sociopathic attitude contrasted with songs that will never fade away. They didn't give a fuck...... they played fantastic songs...songs that will never go away, thank Christ! One of the best bands of all time. Only my opinion, but the only one that matters. H.F.New Year............

  • I played this song on the jukebox at a bar last night and the freaking bartender cut it off halfway through. He said he'd heard better music in a sawmill, but you know what s**t he put on after, Cindy F***ing Lauper. I still want my dollar back.

  • the best video ever.

  • the best band of all times

  • JMC are a dirty version of The Romantics,..a great 80s band too. Listen to them and see for yourself. Search What I Like About You (original version)

  • @f89276704 suck and fuck ¡¡¡

  • 1:13 dat ass

  • beautiful noise... the soundtrack to teenage alienation...

  • the best song of all times

  • my life in black

  • they have such awesome hair. i want some awesome hair now.

  • @mindingosafado Yea, my awesome hair of '85 has long since fallen away but bands like this still bounce around my head.

  • you trip me!!!!

  • 0:00

  • 0:00

  • I remember when I first listened to this song, I thought there was something wrong with my CD player......how we grow to understand things. Best JAMC song.

  • That was awesome.

  • hwy are there ads i just want tolistern to the song fuck the corp!!!!!

  • i like how they treat that vox phantom as a beach toy. some guitar geek could be having a heart attack at the moment. :)

  • bobby g isnae crap!

  • I bought the first copy of Psychocandy in Belgium :p (well that is what i tell my grandchildren) rofl

  • @novocain68 LIAR

  • @madmonkeyness What an angry little man :p

  • @novocain68 u kno it gurlfrend!!!!

  • looks like the 3 of them couldnt hold a up a moped between them never mind a motorbike so why wear leathers. and there guitars look like they bought them out of cash generator for £30 ..didnt there giro's stretch as far as to buy a gretsch..............but to be honest i thought they where cool but never listend to them when they where out because my sisters said they where crap well they had a point ......... bobby gillespie is bloody crap though . the mary chain are ok

  • @guitaneman .. you are retarded.

  • sweeeeet feedback.

  • Perhaps their best song.

  • This is the perfect love song.

Some love songs sing about the cute side of falling in love. The buying each other nice things, looking in each others eyes and all that, .... and some love songs write about the pain of breaking up and all the bad shit of being in love. This song does something completely original, it takes all the pleasure and the pain of love, and sonically fuses them together, just like they ARE fused together in real life. Sometimes mere pop music really can be ART.

  • top band

  • SORRY THE LAME COMMERCIAL WRECKED AN OTHERWISE NICE EXPERIENCE!!!

  • this is the band that showed me its cool to wear sunglasses

  • what guitar is the singer playing?

  • @batterycock A Vox Phantom, I think. Isn't it the same as the one Ian Curtis was using in the video for Love Will Tear Us Apart?

  • This is Amazing

  • Something's wrong with my speakers!

  • i like the part of bobby is to hand down william's back and push him when he shows his V gesture. that's so funny.

  • CONFUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hotttttiessssss

  • Like all early JMC music, play it loud, with the windows open and the neighbours will come outside and start looking up in the sky for the UFOs.

  • 1st heard these guys on Peel in '85 then rushed out and got the 1st album, along with Husker's 'Flip Your Wig' . Noise and melody, that's the best. This song is still brilliant. What a solo!

  • Genius.

Thanks for posting - never seen this before.

I was distressed at the mistreatment of the Vox guitar though!

Vintage guitars + sand? Ooh err.

  • Brilliant!

Is that Bobby Gillespie? He looks about 12 years old.

  • @amazonaaaa It is indeed Bobby Gillespie on the drums, he was the drummer for Psychocandy but the band said 'it's either us or Primal Scream' so he left

  • is there meant to be a load of screeching in the background?

  • @Hemanisgay, yep!

  • @Hemanisgay Yes, it's called Shoegaze. Put down the Beyonce and Google it.

  • @SinglePerf i havent listened to this band before, so therefore i only listen to pop music?

  • Fkin shite. What a racket !!!! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaqhahahahaha.

  • a young bobby gillespie, pretty cool to have been in two of the best bands ever to grace the planet. he still couldn't play drums tho but I suppose that was the point!

  • Whoever thumbs downed couldn't handle the awesome

  • I was heavily into the JAMC after I saw them on the Whistle test in March 1985. I bought this track after seeing the vid on Max Headroom a few weeks later. This is them at their very best. For a youth in early 1980s UK, the JAMC were very influential, when you consider that the mainstream were listening to Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet, the JAMC were a much needed kick in the teeth for the music industry and it kickstarted a whole new indie movement, much to the despair of many a parent! Class!

  • My new favorite band. This is just sick!

  • SO FUCKING LOUD! JESUS CHRIST!! i fear listening this to my ipod. Only album out there that does this. Even MBV isn't this loud on my ipod.

  • I seriously can't think of why one lone individual would come seek out a 25 year old music video to dislike it unless something really traumatic happened like he watched his high school sweetheart blow some 7-11 clerk behind a dumpster while this played in 1985.

    ANYWAYS...I like this song.

  • their defining moment.

  • Whoever the one person is who dislikes this is a tool.

  • Whoever gave this a thumbs down is a tool.

  • @msstabby Waka Flocka right of the video. So is my middle finger.

  • Love his voice, diggn the distortion.

  • Great, just brilliant!!!....i'm my middle 40's and I still like these songs...am I crazy or what?

  • WHY THIS VIDEO IS NOT AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD?

  • I'd like to trip.

  • the one with black messy hair thts all curly reminds me of tim burton

  • @bringontheboosh

and also Murph from the Wombats I have just realised

  • When first heard this i thought i'd been played something dark, forbidden... something about the feedback, the tribal surf drums, the leather... SEX! ...don't know about the Vox abuse tho boys. Beautiful!

  • I recently discovered The Jesus and Mary Chain, and now I'm wondering how I went so long without this band in my life. The singer's voice is nothing short of spectacular, and I can't get enough of those guitars.

  • @LunaGerulf

If you love JMC, buy or find The Raveonettes «Chain Gang of Love» album...!

  • They're the definition of an indie sound. Ultimate guitar band.

  • I just keep asking myself "why people listen to music about bitchies and traffickers when there is good music like this one? -.-

  • been all around the shop trying to rip a digi version of Just Like Honey (demo) that was on the orig 12" B-side. Anyone help?

  • @BarneyRubble1968 Stuck it up on Mediafire for you but youtube won't let me post the comment if it has a URL I guess. go to mediafire dotcom and add this to the URL ?f8c0xn8b48x1qmo .

  • tight leather tousers on a hot day on a beach.. schoolboy error

that sand is gonna cause a lot of touble

  • wonderful!

  • I had just been introduced to these guys, and its love at first listent. This is what I've been looking for all my life.

  • @gallantrider1 i know how you feel, that's exactly what it's like :)

  • One of the best rock and roll songs to grace this Earth. Incomparable.

  • Sometimes, I walk sideways

    To avoid you

    When Ive annoyed you

    Loves like the might ocean

    When it's frozen

    That is your heart

I absolutely adore these lyrics, this song, and this band. Really affects me.

  • awesome.. takes me back to 1984.. i was 16.. and when i heard these guys on "The Tube", my music taste changed forever!!

  • di guys are so fuckin cool

  • fills her cup wit thy Mary Chain.....<3

  • Nothing unique in three chords, substance abuse and a lack of any real talent...

The late pimp MaClaren made a mint out of Lydon and the boys in the seventies..

Actually it's not the banal noise that makes me smile - it's just that they so very honestly believed that this stuff was relevant and entertaining...

Bet they're all grown up now - balding - wear sensible shoes and have day jobs and children..

  • @ahpollyolly sound like a journalist, bitter

  • @ybot1983 Nah - certainly not a journalist and defo not bitter..

Just know irritatingly pretentious shit noise when I hear it.

  • @ahpollyolly Why don't you go watch/listen to something else then, you smarmy cuntplug?

  • Veggie Magnet.... . Thanks for your wonderfully worded and sensitive response....! Sometimes you can get into some really hard edged, grown up and informed debates on YT (often about musical genres and tastes etc..). Clearly this is not possible in view of your need to communicate like a Neanderthal (see Wikipedia). A tad embarrassing for a 46 year old don't you think..?

  • @ahpollyolly no not really. Twat.

  • @ahpollyolly Get off of your high horse, man. People can listen to whatever they want. I'm not going to judge you for favoriting a Phantom of the Opera video-- I think you could have the decency to give others the same curtosy. Also, the number of chords doesn't necessarily make a great song. Many blues songs have ONE chord-- are you going to deny the importance of the blues?

  • @ahpollyolly You're right- dull pop songs played while standing too close to their amps. But back in 1985 it sounded like nothing we had heard before. Our parents heard us listening to that and became worried...which is what rock 'n' roll (and punk rock) is really all about. JAMC's crushing noise and dissonance layered over melody has formed the blueprint for much of the alternative, lo fi, indie music genres that's followed. You may hate those genres, but you can't deny this band's relevance.

  • @ahpollyolly Well, he may not have put it in the form that you may have appreciated but i do find it odd that you even ended up on this page, one which is quite obviously intended for fans of this music. It could be asked, however, whether you have released a gold selling UK album. Surely you must have. I mean, as you say, it only requires some substance abuse and three chords does it not?

  • que jovencitos, me traen recuerdos de Barraca 85. Está Bobby Gillespie que luego formaría Primal Screen, por cierto me compré su 1er disco.

  • great band from scotland

  • Wow. Talk about "wall of sound"! Awesome stuff.

  • This is one of the best make-out albums ever.

  • I am listening to the "Power of Negative Thinking" and the whole box set it is so FN brilliant. They do a version of this song that I listen to over and over again. The Chain kick ass!

  • Jim, Will and Bobby. The 3 coolest Scots ever!

  • I remember the first time I listened to this song. I was like, "What the fuck is wrong with my speakers?".

  • more bands should sound like this. I'm obsessed with guitars drenched in feedback and reverb

  • @howard22 Hi!!!Try the band MY BLOODY VALENTINE!BYE!

  • @lufillolufilli i love that band as well

  • @howard22 Bailter Space- X.

  • @howard22 Dead Kennedys!

  • Such a great song, I was one of those 80's kids dressed all in black putting up with people's crap...and to some people this band may sound dark, but they made me feel happy when I listened to them...I need to get another copy of Barbed Wire Kisses!

Now, I'm turning 41, still wearing all black.... ;)

  • @evildeadvespa thats awsum, im glad to hear you still wearing black. blacks hot.

i understand what you mean about certain music making you feel good.. even if others hate it. plus i only just researched this band today.. i fucking love them! heard them on Lost In Translation.

  • vox in the sand

  • Genius.

  • fucking brilliant, respected for the truly great song it is, as the reid bros always said the feedback is cool but its all about the song!

  • Heaven

  • vaya temazo

  • My next haircut. i think i can pull it off.

  • Why does this have so few views? This is better than youtube!

  • Loved you then... bobby g was in their shadow....can you believe!

  • Psychocandy...what an album! To think that bobby gillespie was ONLY their drummer.

  • Awesome song.

  • Completely brilliant, why on earth has no one commented on this before I just dont know!?

Howls of feedback, beach boys melodies, sullen scottish attitude and leather trousers....oh and a bizzare meditteranian village/beach setting. What's not to like?

  • Ah ...the silken mayhem of the Reid brothers. So glad you GET it ajaleslie. Many don't ...and it's their fuckin' loss mate ...

  • @ajaleslie68

what does the 'aja' stand for?

  • @ajaleslie68 the feedback made this album stand out when it came out, still have the original vinyl....only played once

  • @ajaleslie68 the beach is in Portugal

  • @xakes É?? Onde? Nunca soube disso! E adoro os irmãos Reid!
