I wrote to the science channel. They don't have it on DVD yet. But they did say our email is important for them to decide if it's going to be on DVD. So all you guys interested, please write to the science channel.

This reminds me of the movie Minority Report ; in the film they think they have some science that can catch murders before they happen.........These claims are bogus because everyone knows someone who knows someone. So were are they trying to go with this?
than you know the famous quote from Maxwell: Nothing is more practical than a theory! Just hang on for half a year or so when Barabasi will tell you where you will be and what will you do in 10 years time :-) And that doesn't make him a cog from Minority Report.
Where are you? If in the US you will get the answer on the 15th of February on Discovery Science. If in Canada on the 8th of January on Discovery Canada. Not sure about teh BBC broadcast date yet.
used to be a game called the 6 degrees of kevin bacon where you guess any actors connection to kevin bacon through 6 films or less. he was in so many films back in the 80's that you can trace almost all actors back to him

Are you kidding me? This is an insult to all graph theoreticians. Euler published the first graph theory paper in 1736! What's new here are the applications but that's it.
(Social) network science is important and is achieving some deep results. Beware of the hype though.
Of course Euler, Erdos, Simon, Renyi and many many others - but there is a difference, here we are not talking about graph/social network theory but about the NEW science of networks that reaches far beyond the social world. This new branch of science couldn't be born before computers became fast enough to test these ideas. There were no data either and as a result of these limiting factors no mathematical descriptions of real world networks.
