  • It's still so surprisingly angeringly unclear.

  • For a second I thought you were teaching me how to do a double knot. I was like, "Bravo!"

  • I was trying to follow you but you are doing it too fast. I get lost in the second knot.

  • Saved my life! ^ ^

  • This video is awful. It is impossible to see anything because of your hand...so...-------

  • This is just a clip from the Stari Girl Beginner Jewelry Making DVD. In the video, Stari Guy does this technique twice using 2 different colored cords so you can see how one wraps around the other.. If you have a hard time doing this, just stop, pause and try again.

  • I thought the directions were very explicit. I will have to give it a try!

  • This was awesome. I just got a new pendant and thanks to this I am able to wear it comfortably.

  • Why do you do it so quickly and innate?

  • Where can I get leather cords from? I want to make a necklace with this type of material.

  • @emscott32 any local craft store or you can use any type of cord like hemp, waxed cord etc.

  • My pants just got shorter cause this video might help me make an identical necklace as the one I'm wearing, but I'm wearing it out, one day it will break and I will cry.

  • i have necklace that is to long for me it just has simple string, can i cut it in half with a pair of siccors and tie it from there

  • Thanks. Very easy to follow

  • Thanks for explaining! Excellent (& EASY) short tutorial ;-)

  • Thanks Stariguy - excellent video. It's quite quick first time but you just watch it again (and again, and again - and again, if necessary) and you see what he's doing.

Good job. It's going to help me make what I want to make.

  • the cord is really difficult to see.. all i saw were fingers :(

  • dudes... its soo simple...first of all...

    youjustneedtogettwopiecesofstringoverlaptheendssothat theyfaceoppositedirectionsandtiethetopstringrightoverleft thenleftoverrightandthentiethebottomstringtothesamestring youjusttiedrightoverleftandthenleftoverrightmakesureitssnug

then BAM!!! you got an adjustable string for your necklace!

  • my life is saved, thank you sir

  • only one cord slides lol, but I guess that's okay with my pendant too.. it went a little bit too fast for me xD

  • It was very easy and you explained everything as you were doing it. So if you can't see what he is doing the just lister to what he is saying. That simple. I figured out how to do this by looking at a piece of jewelry I bought when I was 16. It isn't very difficult to do.

  • super nifty neato

  • It's really hard to see what's happening because your hands are in the way...

Also, try to do it slower showing what exactly you're doing.

  • @believer2005 it's a little fast, but just use the pause button to stop his instructions to better see or give yourself time to follow along, and then hit play again. I'm practicing with some cheap jute until I've got it down, and then will do it on the final material.

  • Its basically fold the one string around the other and tie it twice.

  • It was very easy thanks!

  • Great vid!!! Just what I needed to understand how this technique is done...thx!

  • coolness =D

  • omg! this was very hard to do since u can't c very well but at last it worked!

  • i cant find the store in ebay..lol

  • @betty5051 Just go to Ebay, next to the search bar click on advanced, then click on stores on the left of the page and search Stari Girl and it will com up. Both of my Beginner Jewelry DVD's are currently on sale. Thank you.

  • If you're having a hard time with the technique, just pause, practice and try again. This is just a clip from the Stari Girl Beginner Jewelry Making video. In the full video, we do the technique 2 times with one of those tutorials using 2 different colors. Stari Guy does go a little fast in this short video but you will get it with practice. You can go to our Ebay Store, Stari Girl Beading Supplies, to purchase the full DVD with several beginner jewelry techniques.

  • its hard to see what youre doing

  • idk why everyone is complaining, its really simple, tie a knot on one string, then with that string tie an knot on the other, presto sliding knot. i think 1:34 is far longer than necessary

  • Um... you kind of go quickly, and your fingers are big. It's hard to see what happens

  • too fast for my slow mind !!!!!!

  • this is named slip knot???So the Slipknot are actually a slip knot, right?Never have thought of that...

  • Thank you. Very simple and very well explained .

  • Great technique. I just paused, continue, paused, etc... and I got it right the first time. Thanks!

  • I Love You Man... you saved my necklace

  • you go too fast.

  • thanks :) it was really easy

  • SlipKnot

  • where do they sell the cord?

  • Thank you! This is going to be very helpful for me :)

  • Great video, it might even be useful if you slowed down a little, I get the "snug it down" part, but this "right over left / left over right" is meaningless if you don'e tell us left from right. hahaa. just kidding. It took me a while but got it in the end, and i now have a necklace (with coral from the beach), using my shoe lace!.

  • finally a person that give GREAT direction. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH.

  • Hahaha Slip Knot Slipknot!

  • where is slipknot??? WHERE?!

  • DO YOU KNOW what is Slip Knot ?

  • he didnt do it fast. i got it on my first try

  • cheers dude, helped alot :) 5/5

  • @Datalore74 I think the tricky part is when :39 is cause that's when he starts the second knot, and he pulls one of the strings down and does the second knot with that one, in order to make the knot the way it's should be. If you focus on that section you might be able to understand a little better. I've watched it like 10 times I think :)

  • thanks i was wondering how to do that for a while now

  • thanks i was wondering how to do that for a while now

  • this video is way too fast. If you are trying to show people how to do something why make it so fast ?

  • This is way too fast..............if you are trying to show people how to do something why do it so fast ?

  • its not too fast. grow up

  • Cool

  • dude! that's awsome!!! THNX a LOT!

  • I love that it's adustable!! :D

  • this knot doesn't stay for me. lost pendants this way. I'm going to try the slip knots instead.

  • thanks!...

  • wow excellent vid thanks so much it helped a lot

  • thank you very much !!!!!! =)

  • goshh , thanks for putting this up . my bf has a necklace with his name on it and i was tryingg to tighten it and the knots came out . gosh , i was scared . so im just gonna fix it noww (: thanksssss .

  • Thanks for this! I had a necklace once with this kind of knot and I loved it, so when my friend recently bought me a necklace with neither clasp nor knot my first thought was to make a sliding one, but I wasn't *quite* positive how to do it right.

  • You've got to be a moron if you didn't get this video first time!

  • ok, here is what i have to say...... THAT IS WHAT YOU CALL A FISHERMANS KNOT!!

  • Lol it sounds like a square not, so it is used in a lot of things, fishing, climbing, Boy scouts, and necklaces.

  • Thank you!!

  • maybe u r toooooooooooo slow! lol

  • A bit fast but if you just listen to what he's saying and then do it, it comes out like it should. Thanks

  • Since you trimmed at the end, is it possible for the knots to unravel over time?

  • ive noticed that they do regardless

  • I didn't get it...way too fast and vague and I can't see what he is doing with his fingers in the way...bad angles...

  • Way to fast slow down dude

  • Put it on fullscreen and try it again. He can't show it anymore clearer then he is in the video.

  • Excellent! Thank you

  • I've been looking for this for a while. Thanks!

and for the people who think it's too fast, you just have to pause and take your time each step. I learned it the second time.

  • man just a little bit slower with a little bit more information would be excellent

  • its pretty easy watch it more than once

  • thank you!!!!!

  • simple?? Not really - not for beginners, too fast, the guy sounds so bored whilst doing it far too complicated to understand

  • I got it the second time i watched

  • I'm trying to figure out the knots but nothing is workin

  • The ends of my twince unraveled, hopeless the ties don't come undone (cotton).

  • Yeah but you didn't say how long to make the twine/leather.

  • love it thank you. I had a general idea as to how to do it. nice to see it done. thank you

  • Hard to understand. Too fast. Vague. Not for beginners.

  • Could you do this just a little faster, please?

  • how do you do a single chord?

  • Comment removed

  • i took me 20 min but i got it and fixed my new necklace

  • This video is really hard to understand man, I can't see what your hands are doing.

  • He seems very enthusiastic. ;)

  • Yes! I just did it, took me about 15 minutes but I got it! After I lost the metal necklace for one of my pendants I used a very crude knot on a length of leather to hang it cumbersomely around my neck. This fixed all my woes, thank you!

  • This was awesome thanks, so simple!

  • Thank you so much Ive been trying to figure this one out!!!

  • wow! clever, love this one, thanks

  • Wow! Exactly what I was looking for! Really appreciate it -- you're a great instructor!

    Liz

  • you are a great teacher. not.

  • thanks its a good & economical way.....!!! for fastening

  • It's too fast and your hands are blocking the view. No idea what's even going on.

  • i agree, too fast. clever, but fast.

  • This was very helpful a friend sent this address to me and its very helpful.. Thanks

  • how are you doing the second knot, i just don't understand it, it drives me craaazy

  • finally figure it out after watching it many times! Thank you !!!

  • You are doing it too fast.

  • thank you so much for the tip!! i was trying to figure this out :D i just have one question: about how long should you make the cord??

  • yeah i'd like to know that as well.

  • i was trying to figure it out, so i made it somewhere between 32-38 inches (about 3 feet).

    and it was perfect :D

  • awesome! thanks =)

  • The length of the cord is up to you. In general, if you want it to be anywhere from a choker style or a mid chest length, you would use about 18-20 inches. However, when you want wear it choker length, when you tighten it, the knots might show on the sides of your neck. Best way is to measure the cord around your neck before you cut it.

  • Thanks for putting this up. Helped me fix a necklace.

  • so simple and useful.

    thank you!

  • Thank you! Very useful!

  • Really really useful!!

    Thanks a lot

  • Thank You!! I was looking for exactly this! Thanks again!!!

  • I didn't understand this, you weren't very specific

  • the full DVD is available for purchase. Watch it a few times as you try it, you will get it eventually.

  • thank you! just put on my Heroes Helix :D

  • I'm honored

  • When did Steven Wright start making necklaces? BAAAA-zing! But seriously, thanks for the tip.

  • Awesome video, and i feel silly for telling you that it took me quite a few times to figure it out!Haha!I practice on hemp, but i guess one bad thing with that is that it might come undone after trimming??Or what do you think?Does it work better on leather cord?

    Thanks,

  • You could use it on hemp but I think you would have to put a dab of glue on the ends so the hemp doesn't come undone. Leather works great in a 1 or 2 mm size.

  • @Stariguy uhm..i just wanna ask if u could like tell me which color of leather cord is the best for a bronze peace pendant...please reply back!..thnx

  • Great in detail I saved this to my play list and also will watch for more of your work.

  • terrific

  • took me two views to get this. Good video and a nice explanation

    Cheers

  • Excellent
