This is just a clip from the Stari Girl Beginner Jewelry Making DVD. In the video, Stari Guy does this technique twice using 2 different colored cords so you can see how one wraps around the other.. If you have a hard time doing this, just stop, pause and try again.
My pants just got shorter cause this video might help me make an identical necklace as the one I'm wearing, but I'm wearing it out, one day it will break and I will cry.
Thanks Stariguy - excellent video. It's quite quick first time but you just watch it again (and again, and again - and again, if necessary) and you see what he's doing.
Good job. It's going to help me make what I want to make.
It was very easy and you explained everything as you were doing it. So if you can't see what he is doing the just lister to what he is saying. That simple. I figured out how to do this by looking at a piece of jewelry I bought when I was 16. It isn't very difficult to do.
@believer2005 it's a little fast, but just use the pause button to stop his instructions to better see or give yourself time to follow along, and then hit play again. I'm practicing with some cheap jute until I've got it down, and then will do it on the final material.
@betty5051 Just go to Ebay, next to the search bar click on advanced, then click on stores on the left of the page and search Stari Girl and it will com up. Both of my Beginner Jewelry DVD's are currently on sale. Thank you.
If you're having a hard time with the technique, just pause, practice and try again. This is just a clip from the Stari Girl Beginner Jewelry Making video. In the full video, we do the technique 2 times with one of those tutorials using 2 different colors. Stari Guy does go a little fast in this short video but you will get it with practice. You can go to our Ebay Store, Stari Girl Beading Supplies, to purchase the full DVD with several beginner jewelry techniques.
idk why everyone is complaining, its really simple, tie a knot on one string, then with that string tie an knot on the other, presto sliding knot. i think 1:34 is far longer than necessary
Great video, it might even be useful if you slowed down a little, I get the "snug it down" part, but this "right over left / left over right" is meaningless if you don'e tell us left from right. hahaa. just kidding. It took me a while but got it in the end, and i now have a necklace (with coral from the beach), using my shoe lace!.
@Datalore74 I think the tricky part is when :39 is cause that's when he starts the second knot, and he pulls one of the strings down and does the second knot with that one, in order to make the knot the way it's should be. If you focus on that section you might be able to understand a little better. I've watched it like 10 times I think :)
goshh , thanks for putting this up . my bf has a necklace with his name on it and i was tryingg to tighten it and the knots came out . gosh , i was scared . so im just gonna fix it noww (: thanksssss .
Thanks for this! I had a necklace once with this kind of knot and I loved it, so when my friend recently bought me a necklace with neither clasp nor knot my first thought was to make a sliding one, but I wasn't *quite* positive how to do it right.
Yes! I just did it, took me about 15 minutes but I got it! After I lost the metal necklace for one of my pendants I used a very crude knot on a length of leather to hang it cumbersomely around my neck. This fixed all my woes, thank you!
The length of the cord is up to you. In general, if you want it to be anywhere from a choker style or a mid chest length, you would use about 18-20 inches. However, when you want wear it choker length, when you tighten it, the knots might show on the sides of your neck. Best way is to measure the cord around your neck before you cut it.
Awesome video, and i feel silly for telling you that it took me quite a few times to figure it out!Haha!I practice on hemp, but i guess one bad thing with that is that it might come undone after trimming??Or what do you think?Does it work better on leather cord?
You could use it on hemp but I think you would have to put a dab of glue on the ends so the hemp doesn't come undone. Leather works great in a 1 or 2 mm size.
It's still so surprisingly angeringly unclear.
