Marilyn is such an icon that its impossible to get it exactly right, and internally she was such and enigma that i think no one really knows who she was. This film is based on a totally fabricated story. The original book never mentions an affair, and the really sad thing is that a lot of gullible fans believe it as fact. Here an insipid plain looking actress dresses up as our greatest sex symbol, and proves no one can play Marilyn.

It amazes me that almost every reviewer except Liz Smith, who actually knew Marilyn, raves about this film, and believes it happened. Why didn't her estate try to stop this rubbish from being filmed.

@minakovi After watching the movie, I think Michelle Williams did as well as anybody could have done. Of course she wasn't the perfect Marilyn Monroe, but is there really a perfect Marilyn Monroe? And for a movie about the story of Marilyn and what she was like, I, as far as I know, think she did very well portraying her. The acting in the movie was marvelous and for a powerful emotional drama, i found it to be excellent.

I felt compelled to write this after bursting into tears in the cinema yesterday.

I must say, Michelle was INCREDIBLE - I grew up in the 80's, so have only ever seen the posters / old-fashioned films.... Now, I feel as if I was actually THERE.

I never realised how unhappy she was.

Such a beautiful, talented, funny and adorably naive woman was BROKEN inside..

Fantstic storyline, plot and cast all round, and the very end where she says "Goodbye" .... I burst into tears. Absoultely THUMBS UP!
