I despise this kind of 'magic' too, and in my country you don't see much 'ball-throwing magic' at larps anyway. If you forget about the lame wizards then what you get really is comparable to a reenactment, minus the predetermined outcome and historically accurate gear, with a bit(or more) of roleplay, depending on the larp in question.

I'm Norwegian and as far as I know, European LARP tends to differ from American LARP in some ways, with American LARP at times appearing more competetive, though these days I think that depends more on the group. Fighting in LARP has rules, and some places the level of strength you're allowed to put into a attack is limited. It's all about getting the right weapon to match your strength and speed. At least they are out and about being active and pursuing what they have a passion for instead of talking shit on YouTube just because they can get away with it. In life we all have a passion for something, it's what keeps life interesting and worthwhile and yet unfortunately not everyone pursues what they love and just simply settle for a life they don't truly want. If we all pursued what we love best like these people do I really believe we would understand what true happiness really is.

@Zpetsnazi If this is being gay, I wanna be gay as hell. We don't have anything like this where I live :(. Well the Ren Fair is pretty cool, but nobody take it this serious. Sure paintball is a good tactical sport, but nothing beats live action role playing (when done with people who take it serious) for building tactical skills.....And it is just fun as hell! I got some Shoku's offline to practice with my two sons, they love beating the crap outta me with them. lol. Have fun peoples!
