I remember that quake. I was living in North Hollywood and the ground only shook a little, enough that I thought it was kinda cool, but only because it was a slight vibration. But it made the ground seem so soft, kinda like being in one of those Funhouses at an amusement park where the floor moves. So I can imagine that a stonger quake must be terrifying.
how in the hell do they know its 99% chance "the big one" is gonna happen?? C'MON BRO THESE ARE THE SAME DUMB ASS SCIENTIST THAT WHEN IT RAINS OR SPRINKLES OUTSIDE IN SOUTHERN CALI THEY CALL IT A STORM you wanna see a storm head to a state where they have blizzards and hail and that shit turns into tornados now thats a fucking storm
I thought the Puente Hills fault and the NorthRidge fault are thrust faults. But in CA we still have a shitload of undiscovered faults to deal with. Hayward will go off soon as will Cascadia Subduction in Washington and Oregon, As will the Alaskan faults and New Madrid faults in the Eastern half in the USA. and Charleston faults in South Carolina. There
more faults out there that the USGS still have to investigate soon.
when I was in school back in the 70's, they said there will be a big one in 20 years. Then the 1989 loma prieta quake came along. I was there at ground zero, my freinds house was damaged and the driveway was torn. The usgs said that it was not the big one. If they keep saying that any quake is not the big one!
I know all of you at USGS staff are all gulity and innocent.. U blame for earthquake, everything at epicenter everytwhere around city in state of CA, God Damn it.. Go to chruch and learn lesson for all peoples to survive in peace on earth.... I dont want to hear that again..
I came here because I just experienced another earthquake thanks to the San Andreas fault.

Maybe after the big one california can become its own country. Then they wont bother us anymore with their problems.

@godsmack8807 "Problems"? LOL, you must not realize the economic & technological powerhouse that California is.
