@Ximon1986 You have no idea what you're talking about. The normal power distribution in an R32 is 75% to the rear and 25% to the front through a Haldex dif. Some S4 Quattros use it too instead of a Torsen dif. The only thing that keeps it from oversteering MORE than its turbocharged brethren is the heavy V6 over the front wheels.

Right but R32 has no real AWD. It's called 4MOTION and it's actually front wheel drive with addaptive rear wheel drive during traction loss. So it's not really posible to drift with it as with an Audi S4, EVO or other real AWD cars.

I'm not shouting at you ;) I only wanted to say that it isn't drifting. The shows technique (swinging of the rear through fast left-right steering) you also can use with a fwd car. The problem is: after a very short time it stabilizes and you can't do nothing against it (except the usage of e-brake). "Drifts" like this called "slides" and that's the point I wanted to mention :) Nothing against VW or other people here.

I think 335i is 3.0L too but with twinturbo unlike the 3.0 natural aspirated. Anyway i just remembered that there is a 135i too so its impossible that 130 and 335 have the same engine. How can these cars be a suitable comparision? Yes both have 6 cylinder engines, both are german, both have loads of electronic gizmos, but the BMW has positive rear weel drive all the time, while the R32 has AWD, with 70% power to the front and 30% to the rear, even with the traction control off. The only thing you can do do to the golf is replace the Haldex conroller, but even then you will only get 50-50 split front and rear. Pointless comparison in my eyes.

funny enough I dont, I actually own a 2008 2 door R32 and am the Vice president of the VW club UAE. I just feel the comparison between the two cars is unfair as the R32 is almost impossible to drift due to the amazing traction. The BMW is a car that was made for drifiting and is very good at holding the slide. The comparison is unfair due to the different ways each car puts down its power.

Yeah, the r32 is more of the rare gem as far as I'm concerned. Maybe not quite as fast but since you get a fair share of rain in Portalnd, your R has the advantage anyway. Plus that thing is a solid build, has a great engine note, and you aren't driving Shooter McGavin's weekend car.
