  • I miss the 80s and 90s. Channels had style and were creative with their promos. Now most are boring and unoriginal shells of their former selves...... sell outs!!!

  • *sighs* apart from the discovery channel, this show was epic back in the day, before they sold their soul to wallstreet!

  • Proud to say for that day, that minute, those few seconds...I was there.

  • It's half CG and half practical. The landscape and buildings are a miniature model built and shot using motion control, at Apogee Productions (Dykstra's company at the time), contracted by Xaos Inc. who directed the spot and created the CG (all the in-the-air stuff) and contracted Western Images for the compositing of the resultant elements.

  • Didn't I see this sequence on one of the Mind's Eye's?

  • @cabbievonbump I don't think so. The Mind's Eye was computer generated only content. This was built and filmed on a long twisting set for the Sci-Fi Channel. A person in the comments left word that he had a making of segment on this very promo and I remember seeing it years ago too.

  • THANK YOU THIS!! I have a behind the scenes look at the making of this promo on videotape. I'll try to upload it.

    Great find!

  • @blakindigo I remember seeing that some years ago too. Please do. I would love to see it.
