because he know the audience was there for the music
they played alot to get warm before the concert began (that will say what they get payed for ) and they played more then one hour after the concert should have been finished the arrangers had too dissconnect the electrical power
Sometimes I think they're too much instruments, too much noises to handle at one time... But his musical geniality should be undoubted. ;) I like the violin solo, WOW! :D
"Studio Tan" is a must for the Zappa enthusiast; one of the more lyrically innocuous of his works. Parts of Gregory Peccary are right out of a Stravinsky play-book
Shit! Studio Tan was given away! I bought that, Orchestral favorites and Sleep Dirt for $1.99 each in Caldor's in 1978-79. Awesome albums, too. Makes one wonder what lives beneath the earth in THE VAULT...
Jean Luc's solo rocked pretty hard... makes me think about Zappa saying that he simulated ejaculation with his instrument at the end of his solos by playing as fast as he could.
Father O'Blivion is the 4th part of the Don't Eat The Yellow Snow Suite. Farther O'Blivion (this piece) is the basis for The Adventures of Greggery Peccary: 1st Movement.
this should be the origin or a live arrangement of the "Studio Tan" recording (Which was a bootleg done by a major company btw, FZ processed against Warner for years ( and won)) - it definitely contains the main Greggary theme
Indeed! Great piece of music and one hell of a band! You don't need to have a high school diploma to understand the compexity of playing this kinda stuff. Really top shelf music.
Si Ralph Huphray is Elmejor, esa facilidad y limpieza es unica solo ese wey sabe que pedo jajaja bueno para los que no saben tambien tocaba en manhatan transfer con outsidemen (mike miller) chequenlo
Greggary peccary is one of Frank's best compositions ever IMO, Good to see some of it on youtube. FZ was so fuckin far ahead of his time, a lot of "musicians" who got more recognition could'nt touch him as far as guitar, lyrical, and composition skills go. Thanks for posting this.

Been listening to this for years on my bootleg CD and now I get to see the amazing process in action!
People say James Brown was the hardest working in the entertainment/music industry. Zappa was HARDER!

I was at that concert -73
Zappa really like to play in Stockholm
because he know the audience was there for the music
they played alot to get warm before the concert began (that will say what they get payed for ) and they played more then one hour after the concert should have been finished the arrangers had too dissconnect the electrical power
too get them stop playing
because they did `nt want too work overtime .

Oh, that was priceless! Along with FaceBook, MySpace, and the list goes on! Maybe we should keep Greggary away from that very hip water pipe.

Notice how Bruce Fowler glances at Ian Underwood for a moment after Zappa grunts at them so they begin - I think he thought Zappa was being rude.
TonyNewman 4 years ago
Looks a little like it. ;) Or maybe he's just checking if Ian is joining in. You probably had to have strong nerves to be able to work with Zappa.
hinneinisannidanni 4 years ago
Is this a whole song or just some potpourri of zappa songs?
I know there is a song called "The Adventures Of Greggery Peccary" on the "Studio Tan"-album, has that song something to do with this?

And the next year Jean-Luc did this same awesomeness (with that similar phase-shifted tone) all over Mahavishnu Orchestra's "Apocalypse"!

Unbelievable. Or hardly.
So great, so swinging in a so modern fashion that 34 years later one can wonder where the jazz has wandered since !
