  • i love the scene at the beginning where Millie is dressed like Mary Pickford who was the queen of Hollywood. looking like Miss Pickford with her curly locks would have been fine in 1918 but dated by 1922 great movie

  • I LOVE how it says "color by Technicolor"

  • i was born in the wrong time period. i belong in 1922.

  • @lovejulieandrews

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! yea. is was born in '93!

  • @lovejulieandrews

    I AGREE!!!

  • @lovejulieandrews so true me 2

  • if you look at all the other parts of this movie there are less and less views! only true fans watch it to the end

  • We did this show at my school and i loved it

  • when she says " you did say 35 cents" she sounds like in mary poppins when she says "this is the house of jane and micheal banks, is it not"

julie speaks so properly i love her to bits and ive never met her...

  • "gee I wish my boobs weren't so big" hahaha.

and lol at poor video editing, I love old movies! :)

  • @MsNB1993 no

  • Parts of this movie are so horribly racist... but others so adorable. :/

  • @XieYali well, you couldnt have a movie set in 1920s america and it not be racist... it wouldn't be accurate, but i agree,

  • @MsNB1993 Why? What's happening?

  • dorthys so idiotic

  • wow the look on that guys face is priceless when her boobs bust out lol

  • I'm Ching Ho in my school's musical, just found out today!! So excited :D

  • Ugh! I'm trying so hard to find the stage version! This movie is the worst thing I've ever, ever, ever seen!!

  • One of my favourite movies! I love it!

  • @applenia88 A favorite of mine as well!!! I think I know the dialogue by now, haha

  • @PinkPoodleSkirt77 yea me too!:))

  • Gahh I love 20s styles! a movie with Julie Andrews (my favorite actress) AND 20s era is like a double bonus

  • My current Netflix disc yet to come. I did this in elementary school. Some fat girl did the part of Millie because she could sing, and boy, was she hammy.

  • She looked gorgeous with her curls!

  • I don't get the part about the beads. What's she pissed about?

  • @pmalone4 lolz! All the other girls are flat-chested, so the beads go straight down, but since her chest is bigger, the beads go around them. Obviously, time has changed that view.

  • @pmalone4 She has boobs, which skew her necklace to the side :).

  • Conformity!

  • I wonder if ill get in trouble for using the phrase "modern" in school...

  • my school is going to do thoroughly mordan millie yay

  • we're doing this broadway show for our musical next year

  • has anyone noticed how the cloche hats and low waistlines, fashionable for young women in the 1920s, are nowadays -in the form of baggy jeans exposing the bottom and stretch caps- the fashion for young men.

  • small boobs aren't popular now for sure

  • we r doing this musical for a school play CANT FREAKIN WAIT!!!!!! its gonna be awesome! :)

  • Dorothy sure is pretty. I love that green! :)

  • 6:24 herp, anyways, Julie andrews looks so young here woah!

  • I can't get enough of this movie!

  • my favorite movie! :D

  • OH PLEASE!! STOPcomplaning about cigarettes. it's sooo hypocritical.

do we really have to talk about being politically correct?? open your eyes on ALL politically incorrect problems, I bet you'll find lots of other rubbish when you see a movie nowadays. I'm not going into details or I'll get whipped

  • I LOVE HER LOCKS WHY'D SHE HAVE TO CUT 'EM? I KNOW IT WAS THE STYLE, BUT COME ON

  • my mom loved this as a kid

  • Thanks for uploading this - I saw it a long time ago and I was wondering

when I would see it again. Julie Andrews, Mary Tyler Moore, and Carol

Channing are very funny in this.

  • adored this movie as a child

  • 3 People can get over how short Millies dress is!

  • 6:25

Smooth exit Julie. <3 Love her! This movie is hilarious.

  • Mary T. Moore's character is old fashion, she still thinks its1892 instead of 1922. But hey, some of the old fashion ways were lovely though. For insistent, men opening the doors for women. Women eating classy and dressing classy. Men bringing the gals home to their mother's, and last, asking respect from the father for his daughter's hand in marriage. Those are the things I would keep that are old fashion. Racism and disrespect, heck no that can pass.

  • Wierdest movie ever O.O...greatest Musical ever

  • this is a happy motion picture that makes us happy <3 <3 <3

everybody so lovely, i cannot stop watching it.

i love even mrs meers haha:))

  • im doin this for my school play, millie is played by selena

  • lol were doing this for a play at my school, im millie.

  • @xxgummymummyxx cool what school? i just went to a play at union high school and millie was mariah shaw

  • @cheer56781 Brookstone high.

  • well yea this movie is from the 60's obviously it's not politically correct lmao, don't be an idiot and just enjoy the movie, jeez this pc thing has really gone too far.

  • This movie is not politically correct. It advoctes the smoking of cigarettes. 50,0000 people die every day from secon hand smoke, it needs to be removed

  • @vrikey You're not politically correct.

  • @vrikey Well this was made before they banned the advertising of smoking and besides there is alot of movies now adays with people smoking still..... *Rolls eyes*...... added note no i dont smoke i hate cigarettes

  • @vrikey Nice comma placement, how many exactly is 50,0000

  • @vrikey First of all, 50,0000? What kind of number is that?

Second of all, if you took away all movies involving a cigarette you'd have to remove three quarters of the world's movies! And besides, it's a fun Julie Andrews movie, and to quote Julie Andrews "I don't smoke.... and you shouldn't either!"

When she was 7 she smoked secretly (yes, 7) and then her mother announced she was going to a throat specialist to check on her vocal cords and she got so scared she hasn't smoked since.

  • Did she seriously buy a body slimmer type thing to make her necklace look better?

  • @cupicaik125 its a bra, kiddo

  • Lovin this movie! But Millie sounds a little weird with a British accent. No disrespect to Julie, I grew up with her several Nanny egos

  • LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!

  • myhighschools doing this as our musical!

  • Aw, Julie Andrews looks adorable in the 1920s garb! :D And I totally laughed at the "Gee, I wish my front wasn't so full" part. Fashion style has certainly changed. A girl nowadays wouldn't wish her "front wasn't so full". Quite the opposite.

  • Does this rag smell like chloroform to you?

  • Thumbs up if you automatically assumed she'd left her baggage in the cab, then realised she wanted someone to carry them for her~

  • @RayTheFox Wanted? She EXPECTED !

  • Apparently Bea Lillie was already suffering from Alzheimers when the movie was made.

She couldn't remember her lines, or where she was, or why; and even asked someone of her co-star, Julie Andrews: 'Who's that?'

  • @kfosterfication: Vanderbilt and Rockerfeller were two of the richest men in America during the time that this movie takes place. The cabbie was being sarcastic that one of the young ladies (Mary Tyler Moore) didn't have 35 cents on her and the other (Julie Andrews) couldn't spring for a tip.

  • We are doing this for our school musical and I'm in it. To be honest I'm very excited.

  • Love this movie. A Little racist in some parts but it's a great movie. "Rasberries!"

  • this movie is really happy motion picture n never makes u feel bored or smth. lovely n delightful.

  • My school performed this musical back in March. I played as the Police officer.

  • @BelieverbyGrace6 erm... what?

  • @BelieverbyGrace6 Julie Andrews is.

And Jesus sure appreciates you posting about him all over youtube.

  • would anyone like to explain the vanderbilt/rockefeller quote to me? thanks.

  • @kfosterfication

I do hope you are kidding! Basically the cabbie was commmenting about how he did NOT get a tip and only barely got paid at all.

    Cheers.

  • I love this movie!!! Thanks for uploading!!

  • Hehe, posting this right after my school did a production, i was Jimmy.

    Epic Movie.......

  • 0:47 "Does this smell like clorophorm? I think most of this is supposed to be based on different movie clips from the twenties.

  • oh, I did this play

  • Every time I get into an elevator, I want to dance like that :D

  • Actually, that kidnapped girl has got quite a good singing voice - sweet song. Anyone know who that is?

Thanks for posting! LOVE love love Julie and this particular movie.

  • I loved this film, the music, the fashions. I wanted to check out the fashions for a costume I'm making. I love the beginning when Beatrice Lillie chloroforms a girl, takes her in her squeeky laundry basket and has to dance in the elevator /lift to get it to move! And all the components of Millie's tranformation into a Modern. The look on the man's face as her courset pops! The whole thing is priceless!

  • I loved this film. I can always watch it over and over again. Love the music and I really loved the fashion of that time, and I'm checking this out to check out the styles for a costume I'm making. This clip includes the vital beginning with Beatrice Lillie knocks a girl unconscious and puts her in her squeeky laundry basket. The dance in the lift / elevator is hilarious. THEN we see the pile of papers with the headline of Innocent White Girls Sold into slavery.

  • I loved this film. I can always watch it over and over again. I really loved the fashion of that time, and I'm checking this out to check out the styles for a costume I'm making.

  • Typically badly recorded sound by Universal, particularly the music.

  • I'd love to go on a lift like that :) :) :)

  • RIght from the moment it starts, this fab movie screams CAMP! Its so clever how it sends itself up, and the more over-the-top camp, the better. George Roy Hill was a genius for deciding to take the film in the direction it went.

  • what a wonderful movie high camp , great era , wonderful music . i love the way Julie Andrews starts the movie looking like Mary Pickford and ends up a jazz mama . thank you so much AAAAAA+++++++

  • thanks for putting this up. i havn't seen this movie in quite awhile

  • Shu Shaw, Shu Shaw

  • The chloroform scene at the beginning is very memorable and certainly grabs your attention ! Regards.

  • our school is doing the play for this

  • Hm, I noticed the sign sai June 2. One day before my birthday :)

  • im doing this at school as a play i am ethel peas

  • i love and adore julie andrews up to this very second... i think up to forever... shes just so beautiful and so angelic and so talented!!!

  • I love this movie. I couldn't care less about any racial profiling or stereotypes...They're everywhere anywhere :p

  • OMG I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOVIE AND NOW MY SCHOOL IS DOING IT FOR THE SPRING PLAY!!!! I'M SO HAPPY! <3 <3 <3 <3

  • You do not want to know how many times me and my mother have quoted this film over the years. Such a good film and so many funny memories.

I always love to dance in lifts now.

  • I played ching ho in this play!

  • LOL, HER BEADS

  • Gosh she is the cutest, sweetest thing ever!

  • Comment removed

  • whenever i'm feeling blue I this is one of my ''cheer me up'' movies.

    Its pure glossy lighthearted entertainment

  • This was producer Ross Hunter's idea of a "Julie Andrews" musical, freely inspired by her 1954 Broadway success, "The Boy Friend". It was supposed to turn Mary Tyler Moore into "the next Doris Day", and finally give Carol Channing her "breakout" screen role. It WAS a success, but hardly did anything for each of them: Mary did three more forgettable films under her Universal contract; Julie bombed the following year in "Star!", and Carol's next film was "Skidoo!", which was almost her last.

  • this corn is worth watching mainly for the first three minutes where Bea Lillie does a quick version of her famous clog dance.

  • proplem is the british are always considered to be better bad guys because of the way we can talk it jsut gives that edge to the bad guys

  • Millie is far too nice to Dorothy.

  • I just ADORE Julie Andrew's voice. Speaking and singing.

  • We're doing this for our play, and I want to be Miss Dorothy SOOO bad!

  • Innocent fun that doesn't take itself too seriously, love it. ^.^

  • I was in this play for skool but they made a cop for the speak easy

  • I doubled Julie Andrews in this film. I was also a member of the "Bernini Bros" doing "oh do it Again" with Carol Channing. In the end of movie as Julie we take care of the chinese with teterboards..had to shave my legs for this one..

  • I love Mrs Meers high button shoes, long skirt-that hikes up,and stone face while dancing to get the elevator going .

  • 6:17-6:26 hahahahahaah thats hilarious! oh i love this movie. Julie is so great

  • ah how times changed. back then small breasts were better now you can hardly see real boobs because they keep on stuffing it with chemicals. and back then they have movies like these, now they have crap movies like... I'd rather not say in case there are fans who are watching this.

  • Julie always was the best Millie, Sutton Foster be darned.

  • My old high school is doing this show tonight......they got nothing on Julie Andrews.

  • what was this movie rated

  • i love the opening song :)

    "better face reality" :D

  • Just watched the first part, it's cute. ^_^ Mary looks adorable. lol.
