PapillonHoney is right, it is NOT called Schutzhund-turn. In Rally it's called "left about turn". In fact, here in Germany it hasn't even got a special name - it's the bog standard turn here and everyone showing an about U-turn makes everyone stop and stare with mouths open! Everyone here finds it exotic! (@PH, if you read the BH-PO "Kehrtwende" applies to both the left about turn and the about U-turn, handler may choose as long as the same turn is performed throughout the test).
I agree with what was said. Schutzhund has no specific type of turn. Its more commonly known as the "go around". A lot of people use it in schutzhund because its easier to get a good "go around" turn then a "swing" turn (but that also depends on the dog as to which one is better).
Noooo .. this turn isn´t called SCHUTZHUNDTURN :-)
It is called KEHRTWENDE :-)
Greetings from germany .. and ist´s not specially for the SCHUTZHUNDE VPG Sports .. you also need it für the BEGLEITHUNDEPRÜFUNG .. that´s the thing you need in gerany to start Agilitycompetiotions VPG Competitions or every other sport competition with dogs ... not dogdance oder trickdogging
@PapillonHoney In the international rules for IPO (schutzhund, trail, obedience) it states, that the dog handler can choose which turn he prefers. So either the dog walks backwards, or around you, just has to be the same during the course. it is the same for "begleithundeprüfung" in Austria.
here in Spain they call this the "German turn" or "giro aleman"
@ElliotDMDS Same in Finland, the handler can choose. I think swing is more difficult to teach or doesn't fit to all dogs and those handlers choose to teach the dog go behind instead of staying beside the handler. Dunno, my collie "swings".
I can't even get over how amazing you are. Have you ever taught humans who have no dog training ability (read: timing) to be able to train their dogs successfully?
We learned this in class, telling the dog to go AROUND, I didn't realize it had a special name. You are so knowledgeable! :) Thanks for sharing! P.S. I ordered your new DVD Trick Dogging for my hubby to give me for Christmas! :)
Was I the only one expecting to see the chihuahua tear someones arm off?

1: can you make a vid on how to teach heel?
2: I wouldn't use this with a leash cuz it would get tangled
3: other than that, awesome vid overall
