  • Wow here in australia telstra shits all over this we get 5-10mb per second on 3G!!

  • @thetheharlinator HTC THUNDERBOLT would SMASH ANY iphone in any type of speedtest, and that TBolt wasnt even in 4G. And the htc TBolt isnt a windows phone its an ANDROID......!!! Although the iphone is a awsome phone apple cnt compete with everytging Android does already......

  • iPhone wins

  • I love my thunderbolt:) it's awesome I haven't had any major problems with it just the battery but that's what charger's are for

  • 50 year old virgin

  • This is for what? Your comparing apples to oranges... DUH?

Now, get an IP4S and run something computational... it would EAT that windows crap phone...

  • You're gay

  • are you the guy from limewire?

  • @create1o No, I'm not the guy from LimeWire... dunno who he is.

    Bob at Wirefly

  • @create1o i was thinking the exact same thing when he first started talking!!!

  • Wow u have no life

  • iPhone 4 have the same speed as Verizon LTE im in san Diego download average is 3.0 mbps imagen 3.5 g will even be faster than Verizon first stages of LTE ATT HSPA+ that what ATT have nation wide right now that like first stages of 4g speed

  • iphone 4 wins

  • iphone u are the best and all the other "smartphones" are wanna b iphone !

  • Dude, seriously, you need to set the servers to the same one, look at the ping of the thunderbolt, almost twice as far as the iphone, look at the servers, baltimore MD for the thunderbolt and Washington DC for the iphone, how can you give a credible unbiased comparison if you don't compare apples to apples? Regardless of what phone, network, 3G or 4G, you gotta compare apples to apples.

  • HTC Thunderbolt has given me so many issues. From connecting to Verison's network to just starting up. I would go with the iPhone 4 via Verison Wireless anyday. The iPhone is soo much smoother when running day to day, but the Thunderbolt is faster in some instances from downloading and updating apps to loading intenet pages. Im just trying to say that if your looking for a smooth trustworthy phone, go with the iPhone. If your looking for a fast phone that will irritate you, go with thunderbolt.

  • the highest ive ever gotten is 22+ mpbs down, 4 mpbs up. The only problem with thunderbolt is the battery.

  • i like how the thunderbolt had a higher upload, than the download... lol

  • I am getting way faster LTE speeds where I live on dowload and upload I have gotten over 20M this video does not due justice to just how fast LTE really is.

  • why is your thunderbolt 4G or well why was it running at verizon 3G speed?

  • @CamaroWarrior We often don't get great Verizon 4G reception in the studio, which is on the lower level of the building. It's actually better at my desk, which is a floor above the studio.

    Bob at Wirefly

  • @wirefly oh ok i see, what speed do you normally get on 4G over there? so far i got 36.18Mbps Down and 6.79Mbps up here in NYC

  • @CamaroWarrior I usually use the CNET bandwidth meter, which gives pretty conservative scores. Typical measurements at my desk for Verizon LTE are 12-15 Mbps. The highest I've seen is 19 Mbps. CNET's test doesn't measure the upload speed.

    Bob at Wirefly

  • @House3237 My bad. I've been living under a rock but hey. Thanks c:

  • galaxy s2 better

  • There's an Advertisement running on the iphone version of that software lol.. damn apple.. money hungry byatches :D

  • Try the iPhone with AT&T service. I did and it was faster

  • I'm on mute but the person who is in the video needs to stop with the hand movements. . _.

  • @Flamingo266 shut up. This is not a bullying site like formspring. Now stop being a retard, and just watch it without calling people names. Alright? K.

  • I just got an HTC Thunderbolt via wirefly.com last week and this video does not do my phone justice.

Detroit, Michigan I get over 20+mbps down and 6-10+mbps up. Verizon LTE is no joke. It's expensive but you get what you pay for.

  • App Store > Android market...

Both phones run well, but its all what the user likes, my jailbroken ip4 has insane battery life, so i cant complain..... I personally think the ip4 is the best phone vie ever had, and iv had quite a few droid phones... they cant even compare to how user friendly the screen is

  • Just wait when Iphone gets 4g network. It's only a matter of time.

  • I have a Verizon IPhone and it's pretty cool ! This guy wants to trade his TB for my ip4 . Should I do it

  • @mrbayway1 .....i just bought the Thunderbolt, no way. Swapping for the iphone 4 is downgrading to me.

  • Lol isn't 4G suppose to have WAY higher DL speeds? Cellphone companies really false advertise the speeds...they say its 3g or 4g but it never meets the standards

  • I think that's the GPS icon ...

  • LOL THIS MORON HAS THE THUNDERBOLT ON WIFI wirefly should fire him.

  • @knman00

Its not on WIFI. The 4G is the first clue. Maybe you should fire yourself.

  • @knman00 dumbass, it CLEARLY says 4g at the top!

  • I tought that iPhone4 was a 4g cell

  • @XTdarkgainTX The iPhone 4 is definitely not a 4G phone, although the "4" in the name sure made for a lot of confusion in that regard.

    Bob at Wirefly

  • @wirefly damn. I heard that Iphone4 got problems with the antenna when it been hold, makes interferences... many complaints from its customers. they release a software but that doesnt fix too much... that's what I heard

  • 1.6mbps is good 3G? Thats what Cricket gets in Pittsburgh. TMobile 3G gets 7mbps, now that's good 3G.

  • @AnderdroidApps tmobile 3g is faster than its 4g. check it out. kinda weird

  • i would go with iPhone 4 but apple sticks to the same old boring look and HTC is changing all the time so HTC rules

  • I have a thunderbolt n I raced an EVO 4g an ATT iPhone 4. My mb download was 22 my upload 6. EVO(using 4g) download 3 upload 1.9 the ATT iPhone 4g smh download was .13 an upload .12... Don't let ATT or Apple fool u.

  • My HTC Inspire 4G just did 4.2mbs down and 1.5mbs up

  • @YerUncleKeith My Galaxy S II just did 5.6MBit/s down and 1.2MBit/s up. :D

  • what I really want to see is what the thunderbolt can do on 3G i dont have 4G yet. or better yet do a speed test on wifi. everbody knows 4G will win.

  • Comment removed

  • The Thunderbolts 4G speed is slower than the 3G connection I get from AT&T on my iPhone 4. Damn, if AT&T's 3G network speed is equal to if not faster than Verizon's 4G network...just imagine how fast LTE/4G from AT&T's going to be! :)

  • @deangelorodriguez

False. Again, it all depends on the server, location, and strength of the connection. If its all equal, the 4G on Verizon is 7x faster (if not more) than AT&T's 3G. I just did the same test on my phone with one server and got 3.5mbps download speed and then changed it to another and got 12mbps. Regardless of sever, you will not get anything remotely close to 12 mbps in a 3G network

Other independent tests (google it) show 4G is FAR faster than any 3G network. See 4 yourself

  • @deangelorodriguez you're smoking crack! 4g slower then 3g! lmao

  • Have you tested the thunderbolt in a 3G network vs. the iphone? I know verizon 4G LTE is ridiculously but I was curious with the comparison to both great phones on a 3G network.....

  • @motoxxx9891 thunderbolt would still win on 3g trust me!

  • Wow, I've been getting around 14mbps on my Thunderbolt in the DFW area.

  • This video is a fail if you use wifi

  • Which one last longer in terms of battery life., would the bolt be best for everyday, day to day use if going from work to school., or would the iPhone battery life last longer?

  • @hoodfam156 I did do a battery life video for the ThunderBolt here oh YouTube, but have not tested the iPhone. My non-scientific experience with both phones is that the battery lasts longer in the iPhone. However, that will ultimately depend on the apps you have running in both phones. And keep in mind that the T'Bolt has a MUCH bigger display and can do LTE speeds... those take power but add benefits.

    Bob at Wirefly

  • 3 down, you're joking! that's not anywhere near what verizon claims!

  • its not that great for so called 4G

my at&t iphone 4 gets an average 3.20mbps download and 2mbps upload so for being 4G, the LTE service isn't worth paying for

it streams netflix just fine, and without any lag

even my ipad get pretty good speeds when tethering to the iphone 4

i've even gone as far as being able to watch two different movies through netfix, one on my iphone 4 and one on my ipad, both over the iphones 3G signal and still no lag

I also have never had any dropped calls

  • @vgking699 verizon doesnt make you pay extra or 4g.

  • the speed of a thunderbolt what kinda slow on this test,he probly don't get good 4g where he's at

  • LTE 3mbps? I get 5 on my G2.

  • So a couple things interested me about this video. 1st: the display for the Thunderbolt is much larger than the Iphone 4 which is was nice to see considering I wanted to see the comparison. 2nd: The Thunderbolt is working off of the Wirefly WiFi system not a true 4G LTE signal. To me it seems like we can say the Thunderbolt has to work faster than the Iphone 4. Someone please comment! I am looking at both phones. Will the Iphone 5 be 4G compatible??

  • It is very possible that the iPhone 5 will be revamped with an even better camera and possibly a kickstand. 4G greatly depletes battery life. You will likely only get 3 hours out of this phone on 4G speeds. Just wait until June.

  • @kingdfb0 Dude, the iPhone disappoints us every time a new one is announced. Sorry, but after 4 generations, I really don't see them improving. It's probably just going to have a slightly better camera, 4g and hdmi out but that's pretty much it.

  • ok so i just finished saving 300$ for the iphone 4 32gb verizon but then i saw the

Thunderbolt.. Which one should i get.. I was thinking iphone because i like the apps better.. But i hear that Android is getting good apps finally.

  • @digdug0072 dude same april 17 is my upgrade. i dont know which one to get im turning to the iphone becuz of the app store and itunes which beats the android market completely. android market just copies games off of the app store. Also my friend has the iphone from verizon and he loves it. i would get iphone

  • The HTC is MASSIVE! Can that fit in the average pocket?

  • @theoriginalshaun The HTC ThunderBolt easily fits in a shirt pocket, I've carried both it and an EVO 4G around with no problem.

    Bob at Wirefly

  • @theoriginalshaun it can if you don't have the extended battery..........

  • LOL att 3G is faster than that. I constantly get 5-6mbps down on my iPhone 4

  • @broseph0523 how bout you prove that. Make a vid. Take a snapshot. Prove it. Its not possible

  • AT&T sucks !!! Enjoy your dropped calls.

  • It depends where your at and single/wifi !

  • Hi Bob!! <3

  • on my thunderbolt on LTE, with one bar, i get 2 megabytes a second.. yeah... :P

  • @Madkillr05 I just tested the heck out of the ThunderBolt on my desk here at Wirefly. Most of the time, I got 2-2.5 Mbps, pretty consistently. Then I got 8 Mbps... Yowsa!! Still, I can't consistently get that with the ThunderBolt I have, but it's great when it happens.

    Bob at Wirefly

  • @wirefly i am in a rural area so network traffic probably has somthing to do with it.

  • @wirefly i should point out that Madkillr05 used megabytes as units of measurement and u used megabits.

  • @wirefly getting over 40mbps here in NYC when USB tethered, check my videos

  • @wirefly I have a question, i want to get an iphone for its price monthly but i like the design of the thunderbolt, but also i want to have a phone just for friends and family and a little bit of work, also i don't travel a lot so im confused on which phone to get, any help?

  • @Blackmamba24815 There are so many choices, even just among Verizon phones. Several of the DROID-branded phones (such as the DROID Incredible and the DROID X) are not only terrific phones, they are inexpensive on Wirefly. The ThunderBolt is a great choice, but maybe you should consider the DROID X as well.

    Bob at Wirefly

  • always fail to tell us how the phones antenna works or signal..which is the most important feature...does anyone care about iphone now?

  • @GearinSuper On the thunderbolt if you remove the back cover the device will revert from 4G LTE to 1xRTT. When you go inside a store or a building sometimes the 4G will drop & you will only have 3G or even 1xRTT & even at that you have to powercycle it allow the device to perform a handshake with the tower to get a web page to pull up. I work in a device lab so lemme know if you have additional questions =)

  • in Sweden folks are getting 30mbit/s via LTE

  • people that say that you cant notice the difference in the browsers......download something, or upload something, only THEN will you notice the difference!

  • I have seen phonedog do a speedtest on the thunderbolt and they got 19 mbps download and 30 mbps upload. It really correlates to where one is located. That said, Verizon does have the fastest 4G service atm. MetroPCS isn't a bad option either for 4G if they are in your area.

  • Yea thats a big suprise 3g iphone 4 lost to a 4g duhh!!! But lets see when the iphone 5 comes out then well see whos packin the speed.. iPHONE 4LIFE!!!!

  • 4g isn't that much faster I tested evo 4g and iPhone 3G on the web browsers and the evo was maybe two seconds faster if that!

  • 4g is not that much faster compared the eve 4g vs iPhone 4 safari w

  • @freakylocz14

Yea ok your a moron don't talk if you don't know what it is your talking about sprint came out with 4g first yes but did not make it perfect. Verizons LTE is the fastest 4g as of right now.

  • faster than my internet on pc

  • ahahaah , this is ridiculous ,,,,,,,,,,,u cant compare a 3g against 4g phone ,,,,,,,,,, of course 4g will be better and faster

  • Where is the signal indicator for the 4G on the thunderbolt?

  • @mik3mx09 It's there in the notification bar, the usual vertical bars to indicate signal strength.

    Bob at Wirefly

  • @wirefly if it is like the evo, then the signal strength in the notification bar is for signal strength not for LTE/WIMAX signal strength.

I have a rooted Evo and the 4G icon has its own signal strength. I can get full service but have poor 4G connectivity.

  • Sprint 4G slays Verizon!

  • @freakylocz14 dude i did the speed test with my thunderbolt against my friends evo cause he kept hassling me about it...my bolt got 11 mb download and his was 8.7 mb. be honest now, sprint was never known to be the best when it came to speed and reliability those titles always went to verizon or att.

  • @BlessedMeWithHisFire 1.5 Mbps down and 35 Mbps up on the Bolt. Something is not right here.

  • @freakylocz14 what lol you mean 1.5 download and 35 upload? if so then yea something isn't right...

  • Comment removed

  • @freakylocz14 That's what the display model at the Verizon store gave me. If I was to start uploading more vids to YouTube a lot, maybe I'd want it over Sprint.

  • I work in a best buy mobile location in brooklyn new york. We have a live demo of the htc thunderbolt. We repeatedly tested the network speed and had an average of 16 mbps dl speed and a 26 mbps upload speed. even though verizon has launched LTE service it is still not fully active in some areas.

  • Here in Vegas I am getting consistant 20-30 mbps download (seen it up to 47), and 20+ upload. On the Pantech 4GLTE USB I have gotten up to 160mbps.

  • Can you do the iPhone 4 for AT&T vs HTC Thunderbolt 4G? Thanks.

  • Some of the best head-to-head comparisons are found here. Great job.

  • @placebo473 Thanks!

    Bob at Wirefly

  • I have both phones and the Thunderbolt is a killer

  • @bamster345 thunderbolt

  • So guys, AT&T's going to buy T-Mobile.

    *Quietly shoots self*

  • @House3272 Verizon FTW.

  • @House3272 HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS? O_O

  • @lemasultan Its been up on the internet everywhere for 3 months now. tmo(dot)com has all the coverage i think.

  • i normally get an avg of 2.05mbps or better out here in Ga on the 3g network. is it really so bad everywhere else that 1.7 is impressive?

  • what phone is better?

  • hi bob can you please please please do a incredible vs thunderbolt shmackdown i would be incredibly happy if you could

  • @yankeeboy1231 The DROID Incredible is a good phone and it's available at a great price. We all know at the start that the ThunderBolt is much more technically advanced than the Incredible, but the Incredible is a heckuva lot of Android phone for the money. Might be interesting...

Then again, a new version of the Incredible is rumored to be just around the corner.

    Bob at Wirefly

  • @wirefly that is a great point however i need to make a decision by june thank you so much for replying you are the best tech reviewer eva u always answer questions and just one thing if you have a choice of anything on verizon blackberry android ios what phone would you get

  • @bamster345 if you want to have a slid-out keyboard, get D2, if you dont care - def TB!!!

  • internet sucks in the US, they need to invest in more capacity and build up the networks.

  • You have 3 Mb download speed on 4G in USA, we in UK on Vodafone have 4-5 Mb/s we don`t need 4G

  • @iruncic nah on my thunderbolt i get up to 16 Mb

  • ya... but we don't live on an island... x=

  • I hope Apple delivers and releases a Verizon iPhone 5 with 4G some time this year.

  • Hi i will be getting a new phone in about 2-4 weeks any recomondations? smart phones please?

  • @Xfactor61898 Wait for the Optimus 3D, no doubt, but your honky ass probably wont even be able to afford it.

  • Hey, Bob!!! Where r u?? I got this morning 14258 down, and 31136 up on my TB!!! Usually it is always +/- 12MB down, and around 30Mb up.......

  • @fuzio1963 yeah i got up to 16 Mb down and 33 Mb up on mine too!

  • @fuzio1963 Wirefly is in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC. And I can get much faster speeds on the ThunderBolt if I snooped around and tested it in different places. However, I wanted to show a test and wanted to show the actual numbers from a real comparison. If I test 10 times and only show the one where the ThunderBolt gets 12 Mbps, that would be lying to you. This is a real, unedited test - what happened, happened.

    Bob at Wirefly

  • @wirefly TY Bob for expl.

  • @fuzio1963 got 19 mb download this morning on thunderbolt in atlanta

  • Switch servers to a big city near you. The GPS couldn't get a good lock.

  • do the test again , and turn off the gps on the thunderbolt

  • @grundyman26 Do the test again , and turn off the Thunberbolt.

  • @grundyman26 give it up, steve don't hear you, he's not gonna pay you. So stay off his off his dick. So sick of you iphone fanboys. that phone hasn't changed since 07. Don't worry, in just 3 short years the iphone will be able to do what mine does today. Just hold tight

  • the intomobile speed test of the thunderbolt was like 16 mbps down & 33 up whats up with that?

  • Wow I get faster Internet speeds on my iPhone on ATT than this plastic LTE brick. (iPhone here was on Verizon's network)

  • here in AUS on my iPhone i get 3.5 mbps down and 2.3 mbps up with 3 bars of service :)

in the middle of the day when network is busiest

  • always a gentleman bob. thanks.

  • Everyone chill if u are in a 4g area the speeds are insane okay? If ur not it will obviously be not that impressive

  • I wanna see an evo go agaisnt the thundrbolt on everything.

  • that is not an acceptable 4g speed on the tolt in 4g lte where i am washington d.c. i get 19mbps down and 36mbps up and i saw the exact thing in another video

  • I got 2-3 Mbps on an AT&T's 3G

  • I get 3 Mbps on average and that's on AT&T

  • Please do another speed test video.. outside at least.. also MAKE SURE the speed test servers are the same in the options.. and do at least 3 tests.. not just one..

  • Hey should i get the htc phone or iphone

  • @Globalmodderzv2 never get the iphone, unless you like prison, being raped for your money, and told what you can and can't do with your things.

  • @Globalmodderzv2 iPhone definately!

  • saw another video and the thunderbolt had about 19Mbps down, it was tight, nice comparison btw

  • Use the same server!! Please ;)

  • Iphone - 5 bars

  • i get faster service on AT&T 3G HSPA

  • I get 4mbps on my HD2 with HSPDA...

  • So around 4Mbps for the Thunderbolt? huh. Alright.

  • Change the sever on the tbolt

  • I have verizon's LTE usb modem and in a 3G area, I get the same speeds as the thunderbolt is getting.

In a 4G area, my speeds are 15Mbps+.

    Whats up verizon?
