Wonderful. I first heard this on a barge docked at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge, at a memorial concert on 9/11/09. It blew my mind and immediately set out to learn it, but was too lazy to work past the mental-physical challenge of using only one non-dominant hand to create such a dimensional sound. Now that my right hand is out of commission for months after nerve surgery, I will approach the pieces again. Thanks for this video - impressive even if two hands had been used!
Lovely! I'm about to start learning this, I see the balance and pedalling are things I have to look at, you do it well. The Nocturne seems quite a challenge...I have my work cut out!
Bravo - I especially appreciated your phenomenal dynamics and your faithfulness to the tempo even when adding a bit of dramatic delay (i.e. without the overexaggeration I've heard in other versions). Sounds like four hands are playing, not one.
Overall, the the prelude was very nice, well done in bringing out the melody and important inner voices.
The nocturne, clearly the more difficult of the two, gave you some trouble I see. Some suggestions:
1. Softer! The nocturne is all about subtly. Pull back you dynamics overall. The reiteration of the A-section was simply too violent.
2.The climax in the B-section came about too early (and was unfortunately sabotaged by that F octave in the bass, I think you wanted an E.) Still, well done!
hey, my teacher just gave me this piece to work on for a competition. I find the prelude easy to sight-read (I sight-read it within a day), but the nocturne kills my mind. Scriabin's works are mostly on technical skills as well, which makes fingering technique so much better.
I do more breathing and emphasis on certain notes. You could take a tad longer to start your Nocturne to show that it isn't a pause in the piece, but a new piece. Great feeling and balance!

Do you worry about seeming vain performing this? I'm not accusing you, I'm starting to learn this currently and I think a part of me would feel a little uncomfortable presenting it to people.
A large part of it is seemingly just a showcase of technique, would you agree? You're welcome to disagree. Just wondering what you thought. How long did you work on this before this performance?

very insensitive.... well you're a man... no metronome to adhere to... well it's not THAT bad... but not sensitive enough. xoleah

It is very cultured sound but lacking culmination. Sounds a bit like flat horizon.

I fractured a finger on my right hand and I learnt the prelude (left hand) and it was really nice.

Prelude is nice! I rather thought Nocturne is a bit too rush and too heavy, but overall, nice work :)

I liked the interpretation. I myself play this prelude, altough I don't do the arpeggios as you.
I'm still working on my interpretation, but maybe someday I'll post it.
Good job, if you ask me.
COngratulations, good dinamics, good feeling.
