  • This is wrong. If you hit with that part of your foot, it's more likely you'll hurt your foot, than his head.

  • @MSloCvideos Kyokushin karate's mawashi geri is slightly different, you hit with either the instep which Shichinohe shihan is doing or shin. I have seen him knockout karateka with these kicks in the kyokushin tournaments (full contact knockdown karate), there are slight variations, this is his version.

  • In Goju Ryu, your knee goes up front first to trick the opponent, then you kick the temple

  • i dont think the foot should be the point of impact.. shouldnt it be the shin?

  • @6nd6 it karate, its the ball of your foot..

  • WRONG! the mawashi geri should hit from the side to land more stable, not in and upward angle. and also its important to let your leg snap back before putting it down again

  • Sou faixa preta 3º Dan tenho 41 ano e digo com certeza que este chute não funcionará sempre, futuramente dará um problema no joelho, esse cara quer inventar....uhahuahuah !!

  • In shotokan karate mawashi geri hits from a side angle which makes it a lot more powerful and effective

  • If you can maintain accuracy, I think it would be better to curl your foot up and hit the guy with the ball of your foot. I assume that would cause more damage if focused on the temple or something.

  • Human Weapon is a great lesson in how not to be a Human Weapon

  • This is a short range high head kick. It catches the opponent off guard thinking that they are too close for a head kick.

  • Really it is not done very good...OSU!

  • There's got to be hundreds of variations of this kick - this one looks effective at close range.

  • For those of you claiming Shihan Yasuhiro Shichinohe cannot execute a proper jodan mawashi geri, I would challenge you to post a video of yourself executing a jodan mawashi geri and compare it to his. Shihan Yasuhiro Shichinohe is an 8th dan in Kyokushin Karate, trained under Sosai Mas Oyama, and fought in many tournaments. I'm pretty sure he's executed quite a few jodan mawashi geris in his day.

  • it should be done as if u threw a front kick and then pivot on the balancing foot to make it arch for the mawashi geri. It will not telegraph if thrown that way. but in the vid they were telegraphing like crazy.

  • @BushiWaazup Seems like Kyokushinkai is a little more loose in its execution, it's almost like a standing crescent kick. In Shotokan, we keep our legs leveled and strike with the ball of the foot.

  • As you get older you just seem to go in more closer to get the job sorted lol

  • Those who say the kick should hit from the side or downwards, you have to remember the context in which this kick is effective.

If you look, it's not a medium range kick, where you can really pull all your body weight into the kick and slam it onto the opponent's head, this is done up close, so the only way to reach the head with a kick is in an upwards angle.

Honestly, if not for kyokushin competition (no head punches), this kick is pretty useless except for the fact that it's hard to see coming

  • It's a very powerfull blow.

  • Remember it's got to be at 40 mph

  • In Taekwondo its called dollyo chaegi (spelling?) but its different from karate, we lift the knee in front of us, then twist the body and kick. In karate i think they use the so-called peeing dog stance.

  • Cro cop.

  • y would he teach foreigners how to do it properly??

  • this doesnt seem correct to me either.

the kick shouldnt hit the head in an upwards angle.

to be more efecient, it should hit from a side angle, or even downwards slightly.

  • Agreed, that's what I've been thaught atleast..

  • It looks like an hybrid between mawashi geri and mikazumi geri in shotokan.

  • yes yoshiro soshinohi sensei doesnt know correct jodan mawashi geri but. you know and he didnt place 7th in world open kyokushin tournament and yoshiro soshinohi sensei isnt student of oyama, please do not teach us true jodan

  • @jimmymoltesanti uh, I think the graphics showed the kick coming from a side angle. correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @jimmymoltesanti uh, I think the graphics showed the kick coming from a side angle. the big guy was just doing it wrong. must have bad flexibility.

  • Comment removed

  • he does it wrong

  • those pads sting your shins like fuck

  • This is actually mawashi geri done wrong.

  • Agree

  • @LOLPombaer it's different to my style as well, but it might not be wrong, just from a different style.

  • man americans cant kick shit no flexibility thei suck

  • Even the mawashi geri shown by the computerized dummies was a little weak. You've got to tuck that leg in tighter, your leg should be like a spring and the kick itself should release all of that tension into your opponent.

  • Kyokushin OSU!

  • hymen weapon amuses me =)) ... its such an american aberrant show :) ... GG you americans =))))))))

  • It's "human" weapon! Not the way you spelled it! LOL!

  • i meant "hymen" u scrotum xD never seen a pussy i presume

  • lmao. hymen weapon owns. sunday bloody sunday

  • oh..really

  • Nice to see Shichinohe Sensei :)
