That ending bit, where it gets all quiet, is just so fucking peaceful, and makes me feel like everything, ever will just be all alright. Brian, don't ever change, and don't ever stop being a Casanova, you sweet soul.
Being born in the town of your hero: $0.00 (gotta love the boss), the audacity to pour y0our heart out: $0.00. the unfliching dedication to yourself even after a record deal $PRICELESS. Brian is the most sincere rockstar we could ever ask for.
Saw them last Thursday, and I can tell you it was some of the most magic things i've seen, highly recommended to go see those guys, truly amazing band.
just amazing - must have listened to this hundreds of times and it still sends shivers down my spine like the first time I heard it. can't wait for the revival tour with Dan Andriano - 2 of the greatest song writers ever on the same night!
Aw, man, I feel like literally melting away. He is amazing! Nobody here in Germany seems to know about the Anthem... what a shame. I'm seriously considering buying an oldschool ghetto blaster and just sitting down in the middle of the city, turning it to max volume with a Gaslight Anthem CD in it. People WILL fall in love...
@iambrandonbeck: its basically c am g, with an f thrown in before the verse starts. he's adding the third fret on the high e too. its a fairly simple song, but its fun to play around with.
also "every soul man's song is a night I'd like to spend with you" is a fucking amazing line.
The words that come out of Brian's mouth are always filled with so much passion. He wears his heart on his sleeve and it makes me think how the girl(s) he's singing about could NOT fall in love with this incredible man
i can´t say how much i love his music, it´s just he´s showing life and love through his voice and that makes his music incredible... keep up doin it like right now!
i love how at certain parts of a song (around 2:43) he will get all shy or smile and you just know that those lyrics mean something special to him. something no one else can understand. those are the reasons why I love this band and love watching brian fallon do anything. he's always enjoying himself.
@yeahhmovelikethat it has nothing to do with intelligence. look, i like the gaslight anthem and all...that was just a really gay, overdramatic comment.
Its great to see a band this day & age that comes up tru the ranks over the years & writes such great music, Thank fuck for The Gaslight Anthem, we need more of real music like this & less X Factor & talent show shite. Looking foward to seeing them in Dublin on Sunday night :)
One of the things that fascinates me about this band (apart from the awesome music) is the names of their songs, I mean, the whole 59 Sound album is full of great names, Patient Ferris Wheel, Casanova, Baby, Old White Lincoln, Here's Looking At You Kid, just brilliant names
every gaslight anthem video on youtube deserves hundreds of positive comments. they are such an incredible band and do not get nearly the credit the deserve yet (at least in the US)

I've seen them several times live and all were amazing and like most of you I agree they absolutely give it their all everytime,, the kinda music where you feel it wether you want to or not. I seen them open for Rise Against not knowing who they were the first time and it blew me away with the first song.. forever a fan.
I saw them when they came to philly and let me tell you seeing them is not only fun but its an experience they seem like their the nicest funnest guys! not only that but they are incredibly talented I have been listening to them since the beginning and I am so happy to see how successful they are becoming!!
This really isn't him at his best his voice does sound strained at parts, he's better singing softly and husky when he's doing unplugged stuff.. the version on KEXP where he does 4 tracks of the 59 Sound is excellent as well as Here's Lookin' At You Kid, that's ones on youtube somewhere. The Gaslight Anthem are a special special band but nobody can deny it
These guys are the definition of why i still love music! You nailed it jsaroff11 look at the passion that Brian puts into his song just while playing in the back of a car!
I really hope these guys get big eventually. Brian Fallon wears his heart on his sleeve when he writes/performs his music, and had lyrics almost everyone could relate to. I just wish they'd come to L.A. more often..
@joeysAdrummer I wish they'd stick around NJ more. I found out about TGA from a buddy of mine after I got out of Army Basic Training and I missed they're last show in Jersey because I was in training with my unit. Personally, I think they should go on a USO tour, especially the next time the NJ Nati Gaurd deploys.
I hadn't heard of them until someone said about them on a forum I'm on, and I listened to the album and I was completely hooked. And, out of the blue, I was taken to a gig of theirs because one of my Dad's mates couldn't go, and it's the second best gig I've ever been to (Green Day being first). Been a massive fan ever since. Sink Or Swim is so raw and powerful, it's amazing. The '59 Sound is a masterpiece, and now American Slang is pretty amazing aswell. They simply can't go wrong. IloveTGA.
This guy is amazing, the band of course is too, he is a casanova in my humble opinion, the lyrics on the 59 sound album are unique as hell and something that can rocked everyday
This guy is amazing, the band of course is too, he is a casanova in my humble opinion, the lyrics on the 59 sound album are unique as hell and something that can rocked everyday
i happen to stumble upon their song "Drive" when some one used it as background music in some youtube video I liked it so much i looked up the band. This was right after Sink or Swim was released. Been a fan ever since and they have been only getting better and better. My favorite band for the better part of the last three years
I could to listen to this song all day everyday its pretty much perfect. I love the first part about how its about not being a casanova but trying to prove it to a lady every guy can relate
I remember hearing them for the first time on Letterman right after they played I told everyone i knew about them bought their album the 59 sound and have been a fan ever since. I've been to two of their shows so far in CO and it has been amazing each time they put on a hell of a live performance.
the dude is pouring his heart out. Look at where the video is, he is in the back of a car, probably talking to some random journalist. Yet he nearly brings himself to tears. Simply put The GA (especially Brian Fallon) bring it every performance.
I think i pretty much agree, its love or hate. But anyone who gives them a proper listen.. well if they aint hooked theyre ears musn't work properly! I've loved them since as long as i can remember, and im hoooked :D just bought tickets to see em at manchester, cant wait!
I think this band is almost like marmite...kinda....maybe. Wot i mean is ive been tellin people bout these guys for ages and they either luv em, or they h8 them and not much inbetween... Lol
Dude, so wrong, i have been following them forever, i am sure there are going to stick around, their new album comes out on 10 june, "American Slang" I hope it is EPIC!
it wont be anything but EPIC my friend...About a year an half ive been telling random people about them, some payed attention, ones that didnt, well they bought the new Fall out boy cd im sure...
Oh yeah, I am the same way, I have managed to spread them through out my work like i virus, Everyone that gives them a chance likes them... including old people... and as the ones that dont pick up fall out boy... they make sure they grab the new nickleback on their way out of Sam goode...
saw these guys in denver and they kicked ass. you can't replace a band with an old sound, that doesn't use any of that new age crap to change their sound. they just play their instruments and that's good enough. these kind of bands are dying with all of this new age computer made crap. good stuff
just saw him play an acoustic show tonight. it was fucking amazing. it was like he was just a guy hanging out at the bar with you havin a conversation. he was saying how he thinks they will never be big and he loves it
This is gonna be a special band in like 10 years. You can tell that when they do acoustic versions or at least Fallon he is trying like 30 ways to sing them while doing it. When he finds it its gonna be special. I think this band needs to be supported. I actually bought like 14 of their last albums from Best Buy and sent them as Christmas Gifts. Did the same for The Answer too. Gotta buy the album to support these bands. TGA rocks hard.
@Otherien if you wanna play it the way he does here, im pretty sure he's playing C, Am, G, and F with his pinky finger on the 3rd fret, first string for each chord as an added note. hopefully that helps
So great music. Found 'bout them like 4 months ago, can't stop listening...hope they come play somewhere in southeast europe, i'll walk to the place if i have to.
