  • This is another alternative to Glycerin/Potassium Permanganate reaction. :)

  • Nerd! NERD! NERD!

  • How do you make Chromium(IV) Oxide ??? I can make Chromium(II) Oxide by decomposing ammonium dichromate...

  • @EdevoK sodium dicromate + sulfuric acid = CrO3 +NaSO4

  • This reaction is exothermic right?

  • yes it is

  • any reaction that gives of heat to the surroundings is exothermic

  • I wanna do this haha ;D

  • My chemistry teacher is planning on using some form of chromium oxide to make thermite.

  • @dragonridley Then it wouldn't be thermite. Thermite is specifically Iron Oxide and aluminium.

  • @spacedementia87

Other demonstrations show that other reactions between aluminum and a metal oxide can be just as effective, if not more so.

  • @dragonridley indeed. Anything lower in the reactivity series than iron would produce a more violent reaction. It still wouldn't be the thermite reaction.

  • what class was this? Was this those one-time lectures near the end of fall?

  • Chemistry!!!

  • that bruce springsteen was full of $hit

  • ^Win. Win so goddamned hard.
