How do you make Chromium(IV) Oxide ??? I can make Chromium(II) Oxide by decomposing ammonium dichromate...
EdevoK 1 year ago
@EdevoK sodium dicromate + sulfuric acid = CrO3 +NaSO4

This reaction is exothermic right?

yes it is

any reaction that gives of heat to the surroundings is exothermic

I wanna do this haha ;D

My chemistry teacher is planning on using some form of chromium oxide to make thermite.
dragonridley 3 years ago
@dragonridley Then it wouldn't be thermite. Thermite is specifically Iron Oxide and aluminium.

@spacedementia87
Other demonstrations show that other reactions between aluminum and a metal oxide can be just as effective, if not more so.

@dragonridley indeed. Anything lower in the reactivity series than iron would produce a more violent reaction. It still wouldn't be the thermite reaction.
what class was this? Was this those one-time lectures near the end of fall?
