Umm I'm pretty sure the words "all men are equal" were around in the country that Martin Luther King lived in, for longer than the two decades this video says his rights had been guaranteed for. Not to mention a civil war almost a century before in said country, that was mainly about said rights. #justsaying
United nation believe that the State may subject such rights only to such limitations as are determined by law (article 4). If the state makes a law that limits your rights then your rights are taken away.
excellent documentary, But i found that you developed the history of human rights purely from a western perspective. The other world running parallel to us during the great empires of rome was the islamic world. The arabian peninsula under the guardianship of Muhammad gave men and women some rights that were absolutely revolutionary to the times.(The times before which female children born were not given the right to live and were buried alive)
