I know about this game. I played a little of it at Otakon until we were forced to leave since it was time, and I saw this game several times. Out of all the final battles in this game, probably the most memorable one is in the last of the final stages, 6-D, where you fight an exact duplicate of your ship.
But the fact that the final battle has you fighting an exact duplicate of your ship is similar to the final battle in the Clint Eastwood movie Firefox, isn't it?
Well, I know of more final battles in Border Down. 6-C has the same final boss as 6-D. 6-A and 6-B have a different final boss, which is apparently a giant core. (I haven't seen it yet)
OK, here's the plotlines, according to the SHMUPS forum....
6-A/6-B last boss: The last trial the S.D.F sends against you in order to complete their plan for the perfect war machine.
6-C/6-D last boss: The "perfect war machine" mentioned in the description of the 6A/6B last boss, a copy of your ship recorded from the R.A.I.N. system.

You were lucky, this is a pretty rare game.
I was lucky enough to have a friend sell it to me. I wish BD would get a bit more exposure. And yes, the final battle is very memorable.

Actually, I don't own the game, though I do have a Dreamcast that's not plugged to my TV. But you did see Stage 6-D's final boss battle, right?

Seen the clips on You Tube. I got close to the final boss on the real game though.

@Ebb1993willneverdie
I've actually seen the 6-A/6-B last boss now. It's a giant mechanical flower bud-like machine. Very similar to the last boss of RayStorm.

@XGluon Then what's Stage 6-C look like?
Ebb1993isimmortal 1 year ago
@Ebb1993isimmortal
It's the same boss as 6-D, except easier. Nothing to write home about, really.

@XGluon Then what's the plotline and ending for each one?
