The up and under is good for catching out a full back (or other player) and putting them under tackling pressure while they are about to catch, good steals this way and knock on's. you can try and knock it back out their hands while they try to catch, you'll either get a scrum or a roasting from the ref. for other players to run on I think a chip is better or grubber.
