  • This is the worst WW1 movie I have EVER seen, and I've seen a lot!

  • This film is so bad it's insulting.

  • People do puzzle why the order to fire was not given, in this clip, until the Germans were very close but in the main you would take down more enemy with close range shooting than at distance. This would mean for an attacking force, that they would see a very high casualty rate in a very short space of time/distance, destroying moral and possibly ending the attack, as happens in this movie.

But at the end of the day people, it is only a movie!!!

  • Why are these films show only germans dying? Strange.

  • @hiphofenemus ?????

You see Canadians dying too, plus this was a German attack, you would expect higher casualties on the attackers in trench warfare.

  • 0:30, must have had great dentists on the western front...

  • love seeing germans die

  • @D87pnoy its fake, not even realistic, more bs from the theatres, big surprise

  • What's up with the German helmets? Why are they wearing Wehrmacht helmets in WW1?

@LushForests : In war, noone is victorious, all will lose...

@rentmicter : Why do you judge ALL Germans by the actions of a few? Isn't that unfair??

  • @LegionaryCohort480 The famous German WWII style helmets were first used in WWI

  • @WillieMills

They were? Well if that's true, I guess it's time to get a history book and learn more about WW1, my bad ;)

  • @LegionaryCohort480 they started with the spiked helmets but switched during the war

  • @Elim777

Ok, good to know. It was the spiked helmets I had in mind, that's why I was confused ;)

  • As grossly one sided the scene was, some shots were done really well. Particularly liked the lewis gun reload, intense as fuckkk.

  • Why don't the Germans shoot back?

  • @4rcher91 i think the germans are too used to shooting unarmed innocent people

  • @4rcher91 fake commercial shit to appease the masses who like to see their own side get more kills

  • its amazing how they can keep their teeth so white like in every dirty war movie

  • The war was eventually won when the Australians and Canadians came under control of their own generals. General Monash(Australian) was the first general to combine Tanks,Infantry and Airpower. Also he knew he had the worlds best attack troops (Australian and Canadian). The Americans palyed a lesser and lesser part when general Pershing refused to commit the troops he had promised.

  • The Lee-Enfield rifle used by the British was probably the best infantry rifle that was used extensively, due to the fact that it had a 10 round magazine rather than the German K98, the French rifle, and the 1903 Springfield, which all had a 5 round magazine.

  • @TheJackiemoon33 Well the lee enfield had some advantages over the mauser type rifles like german gewehr 98 and Kar98k or US Springfield. The most apparent advantages were like you said the 10 round magazine and lighter and smoother bolt action which allows lee enfield to put up a lot higher volume of fire but in the terms of accuracy, reliability and rifle balance mauser was superior and as you can see mauser bolt action is still in modern use with military but not lee enfield

  • 2:31 hes like.....wut O.o

  • To the death!

  • 2:27 FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...

  • By the looks of it, the Allies should have brought the Canadians in at every battle and the war would have been over in 2 weeks. also the germans did not have child soldiers like that 13 year old sitting in no mans land. that was a crime of the second world war

  • Germans weren't any worse than the French, the Britons, or the Russians. Movies dehumanize them too much.

  • 2:57 "Fuck dis shit, Imma chill"

  • R.I.P All fallen heroes & headphone users

  • they made it look so easy for the americans in this video that I think it's kinda racist!

  • @98vanguard

    They're Canadians

  • @CousinItx canadians, but still they made the german army look like they didn't know how to fight at all. The japanese did better than that with there banzai charges in ww2!

  • @98vanguard Well we were on the loosing side so I guess that's why, but you still have to keep in mind, its hard to walk and run in thick mud, let alone shoot :3

  • I hate when people say the Allies won this war because of America. And i hate when people say the USA didnt have anything to do with the victory. For gods sake, we were known as the allies and still are, lets act like them now shall we!

  • @lolackay Well said. No, better yet, PERFECTLY said!!!

  • lol, the end is simply repeated once ^^

  • @LegionaryCohort480

That's just shitty editing by the uploader, the actual film isn't like that.

  • I love this film!

    Thank you Canada!

(both for the film and for the support in both world wars, years before America)

  • out of every single wars in the world, ww1 looked the scariest (to me it does)

  • Trench Warfare in a nutshell

  • EPIC!!!!! :D

  • The film makers did a wonderful job recreating the WW1 battlefield

  • 1:45

    Like a Boss.

  • I don't think man will ever learn. Politics, Religion,Greed, Corruption, Upper and Lower classes splitting apart again. It will happen again soon and the politicians of the world will send the grunts or peasants like me and you to solve their arguments and when I die they will look over my grave and praise me of what a good job I did. I thought the latest RED BARON Movie had a good concept of this. Is man ever going to grow up or are we going to keep believing in this bullshit of today. AUSSIE.

  • A truly moving and sad scene.

One man smashing another man's head with some stone he grabbed from the ground just because they're wearing different uniforms.

I bet the soldiers on both sides didn't even know what they were fighting for anymore. For their country? For more land? Was it worth the kind of violence they had to go through.....?

  • love that dude just cchillin out at 3 mins

  • 1:50 worst part of a fucking war......People slamming eachothers head....crushing bones.....Even worse than the gun-fire

  • @platuner Where did you learn that from??? There was hand to hand combat. Were you there to see it???

  • WWI was just a mess... Unlike WWII there was not as much of a clear bad guy.. All the rivaling nations' problems in the past hundreds of years built up like a volcano ready to erupt.

  • @xxCCBBxx The bad guys were those who supported Serbia against Austria. Unfortunately, Canada were on the side of the bad guys here. Canada won, as whoever's side the USA ends up on always wins.

  • @SupBA Well yes, insane as it is...the war started when one 19 year old bosnian-Serb student shot the Archduke of Austria and his wife as they drove through sarajevo (nothing has changed there)...subsequently 10 million people later died as a result (1914-1918)...boy, what one man can do!

  • @SupBA usa fuckin sucks where were they in ww1? bein pussies isolating them selves until they got bombed

  • @14NOONAN14

are you 12, american, and have been failed by the education system?

the ww1 bombers could barely fly let alone bomb us, they got in after the germans sank multiple civilan ships which may or may not have been used to smuggle weapons to the british and the french. and they had the america for americans policy since 200 yrs before and hardly any happy memories with british to be willing to go to war to help them.

  • @SupBA and canada was on "USA's" side so your saying america was what you so called "the bad guys" too.

  • @98vanguard Maybe. The USA was not initially involved in the Great War. So they did not directlu help the terrorists. However, the USA was supplying weapons and war materials to the English, and smuggled them aboards RMS Lusitania. The Germans did warn them that running the blockade was an act of war. The RMS Lusitania was sunk as a legitimate war vessel, even though supposedly a passenger ship. Of course the US was not acting in an honorable way here.

  • 3:00 this is all true. The Germans did NOT enjoy the war anymore than we did!

  • @TheCharacterActor good words...

  • @BurnedToast00 Thank you, BurnedToast00

  • i was like "aosfdja;sldkja;sldkj;saoierj;aodsgh;alds jjomgomgomgomg" when he got stabbed in the hand lol

  • I never see people bitching about the errors in American war movies.

  • These men did not die to defend their country but rather to defend the lies and interest$ of their Head of state. If I had to live at that time, I would rather have been a pacifist since their is a lot of causes for which I would be ready to die but none for which I would be ready to kill.

  • @major4lee true words of wisdom

  • @major4lee But see it from the French view: the Germans were pigs who were invading you country. Would you fight then?

  • @TheJackiemoon33 I live with my contradictions. In my Gandhian pacifist view, I would let them invade and oppose no resistance but I would never comply even if they kill my loved ones. But that requires a very strong conscience. On the other hand, I approve legitimate defence, that is to say that I should not be prosecuted for the casualties I caused when my own life was threathened within the borders of my country. However, as I come from another country, Quebec, I would not go to France.

  • @major4lee I understand. I wouldnt go to France either.

  • @major4lee

    You mean Canada?

  • @flyinghippos102 Yes! That's the country of my passport!

  • @major4lee The only reason you are able to say that is because of what these men did. You should thank them you inconsiderate punk.

  • @LushForests Really? And if I am able to say that only since I was inspired, I learned from my mistakes and changed it into words of wisdom, I learned that violence never solve anything. No I will not thank these men for specifically what they did. But, I give consideration for those who act in the war for human condition, from the Arab Spring to Occupy and the billion humble citizen demanding justice and dignity, including veterans against war. Not much linked to the extrem nationalism of WWI.

  • @major4lee You don't seem to get the point.

  • @LushForests your last reply imply that the only reason we have freedom of speech today was the fight of allied soldiers. I do not agree with this statement since in my opinion every right were granted by resistance, not warmongers. So prove me wrong if you don't agree. And even though the freedom of speech was due to them, it takes more than that to stop war.

  • @major4lee We did not warmonger, there was no choice in WW1 and 2. I never implied that I felt as though we need wars today or that the reason you and I have freedom of speech is specifically because of wars, you just decided upon an ignorant assumption. I doubt you and I would have been born if these men did not die for our freedom. That was my original point. You are taking everything I say out of context.

  • @LushForests WW2 was a just war. WW1 was not. Neither side had any moral ground to stand on, both sides had been guilty of imperialistic grandstanding and playing games of international one-upmanship like arms races in the years leading up to war. The war itself began with a German invasion - but in the case of WW1 it is fair to say the provocation was mutual.

  • @wahaya2 True enough. In the end i'm glad we won.

  • @LushForests shut up dumb ass, we could still say what we wanted to no matter who won... stop believing the bs propaganda, both sides sucked equally. but this footage is very unrealistic either way you look at it

  • @McBad48 I will do you the courtesy of ignoring the first half of your rebuttal. I do agree with the second half however. Nothing can truly capture the horrors of war on a recreated film.

  • @LushForests yeah, but if they're going to make a war film the least they could do is make the fighting realistic, or at least somewhat. but no, they like to make films with "good guys" killing "bad guys" because that is what the naive public wants to see. and i don't need the condescending courtesy either.

  • @McBad48 It's all propaganda.

  • @McBad48

More realistic how? Passchendaele was nothing more than a boggy mess after months of shelling, its irrigation and drainage system was destroyed. Close up and personal fighting like this, in the mud, was the way of things at many WW1 'fire-fights'. They did find that rifles were not the tool for the job BUT, mostly, it was all they had on both sides. It really did, at times, come down to guys hitting one another with spades, helmets, rocks and anything that came to hand.

  • @truthersRdumb if u notice its only the brits doing the killing, i understand that the offensive side takes more casualties, but that is mostly from getting gunned down on the way there. by the time the germans reach the trench it looks more like the W.W.E. + death than actual trench fighting

  • We are Canadians, we always hold the line. And we were called Storm troopers!!

  • the effective range of those bolt action rifles is very very far. 600+ yards. they did not have to wait that long to begin shooting.

  • lewis gunner ftw!

  • Jesus...

  • Nice scenes, the only one thing I don't like is when soldiers fly intact, but the other is perfect!

  • Fuck them germens up

  • 2:53 THIS IS SPARTAAAAAA!!!! lol damn. that dude with the lewis gun was a beast hahaha

  • 75 people dont realise that it was even worse than that.

  • @jaksutubething the truth is that the germans comlpletely destroyed them

  • @1993bn The truth is the Germans took a very hard beating during Third Ypres and were barely hanging on. If it wasn't for all the rain and with Britain's use of tanks the Germans very well may have been pushed far back and more

  • Man why does the Lee-Enfield rifle sound so baddass every time it was fired?

  • @njkm22 its a heavy rifle and the recoil when it hits your shoulder is intense. i didnt like shooting it at the range due to its heft. but when using it to knock the teeth out of a german, its definitely useful

  • This is such a bullshit movie, soldiers flying intact after shell hits, soldier stopping bayonet with his palm, plain and simple bullshit !

  • @germanMasterroach Your bullshit!

  • @SupremeCmder You're correct. MY bullshit looks and feels 100 times better than this piece of crap movie where fuckin nit wits kill Germans in their droves and some random asshole gets crucified by a random shell bursting.

    LAME

  • @germanMasterroach Yeah i didn't like tht either, but then i thought, maybe they didn't have it in the budget cuz if you think about it you have to by a lot of stuff just to show body parts flying through the air along with all that blood flying through the air.

  • @Silentstorm231 I heard once there is this legend about a young soldier in the ANZACS who during a shelling of the position he was in, got blown away along with pieces of wood and got tangled in the barbed wire.

When morning came, he was still strung up there, like a modern day Christ . The sight truly baffled his comrades.

I think that sequence appears in this movie as well. Other than that, I don't think there's anything good about it.

The fighting is just terribly one sided in some parts

  • @germanMasterroach That sounds like the dreadful WW1 song "Hanging on the Wire" . I'm not certain who wrote it.

  • RIP all german soldiers

  • @youyouone why only the german soldiers? millions of people died in the war, not only germans.

Belgium was destroyed by the invading germans. Germany is responsible for WW1, therefore also responsible for all the dead soldiers and the dead civilians (yes also the german deads).

    RIP all soldiers

  • @vroegrijk2 Though this assumption is just wrong. I got to admit, without the agreement Germany gave to Austria, the war could've probably been prevented, BUT it is clear that ALL the major players in Europe wanted this war and were quite ready to march onto the battlefields. It's a shame to search out just one badguy, when there are so many. Germany had their fair share as well as Russia, France, Austria and the UK. Period.

  • @TheYdobemos What about Belgium?

  • passchendaele is a place in Belgium, we call it Passendale.

Amazing movie, RIP all Canadian soldiers in Passendale.

  • It's interesting that the most of the killed soldiers are german....

Here you can see again that this movie is an american made movie....

  • @Torian88 its a canadian movie I think, but yeah the reality is the Allies probably suffered much more casualties because of their doctrine and strategy, and that they were on the offensive during the battle of Pssendale

  • @Torian88 Actually, it's all.

  • I couldn't imagine living the way they did, some of the people were only 13. I have an American and a German uniform from that war. The stories they would tell. When you got back, if you were made insane by it, you were placed in a psychiatric hospital and often forgotten.

  • @TheJimmyFilms Thats not true, this is a Canadian battle and putting you in the Psych ward not true at all!

  • Terrible movie

  • @SCOTTISHB0Y Yeah, because of the side plot. If they made it like Saving Private Ryan It would've been way better. The combat scenes where what made the movie watchable, and are in fact the most true to life sequences of world war 1 combat in any movie.

  • @CloneByDesign I definitely love this battle scene, as the only recent movie that showed trench warfare " The Long Engagement" had some scenes from the trenches that showed how horrific it was, but not much fighting especially no hand-to-hand fighting.

  • @CloneByDesign They say that earlier battle scene were "sanitized" compared with Saving Private Ryan. I don't know. I think the fighting was quite tough in WW1 also.

  • @SupBA Quite tough ! !!! read some books u mug Brits lost 1 mill French lost nearly 6 mill.

  • @SupBA i think it was loads tougher cause your just running at trenches but then again i was at niether so i dont know

  • and keep in mind in ww1 the germans actually feared the canadians cause not only did we fight to the last man not scared to take on the tough assignments there was also the rumour that there was a take no prisoners order.

  • 1:37 wtf happened ??? Why did he suddenly light up ?

  • @Comrade4561

    Spontanious Combustion?

  • @igotbored44 Of what ?

  • @Comrade4561 phosphorus grenade was hit

  • What a stupid scene... just 2 Canadian soldiers kill hundreds of Germans?

  • @kurutze why 2 soldiers? 1-2 batallions

  • @kurutze It's based off of an actual account.

  • holy shit...

  • 1:45

    Sit down son.. xD

  • People should appreciate what a group of soldiers would act like, who are mentally/physically exhausted from days of combat, who've just charged through kilometres of mud, and where the act of raising a rifle would be a strain. There are numerous first-hand stories of enemy troops "almost letting themselves be killed" in WW1. This happened all the time, on both sides and it's the reason you need fresh troops to continually reinforce and replace exhausted troops.

  • @balios1

The movie recreated a single historical action, as told in the book ‘Story of the 10th Battalion, CEF 1914-1919’. “A Company” was supposed to reinforce the line, but through miscommunication the existing troops retreated, and held by themselves a battalion-sized front against a larger German counter-attack from a poor postion. How did they do this? Are Canadians ubersoldiers ? No! You have a group of fresh troops fighting exhausted troops and the Germans were slaughtered.

  • @chrisrogerrabbit This was a really lame movie made specifically for canadian TV what would you expect.

  • 3:16 and 3:30 they use the same clip twice :D

  • rain drop keep falling on my head

  • some of the actors were really soldiers

  • This movie sucks. I'm Canadian and I'm saying this. I hope I'm not the only Canadian who thinks this. The acting is total garbage. Was it all Canadians in this movie. Seriously. I watched this in History class today and said "THIS MOVIE WAS GARBAGE" Many people disagreed. Please use not so many Canadians next time please.

  • @SpEaDzTuR They overemphazised the canadians because they held the line at Passchendaele outnumbered 10 to 1.

  • @SpEaDzTuR The Canadian Dominion soldiers were instrumental to the allied victory. They were glorious soldiers for the empire and their contribution is not to be underestimated. Thank you Canada, from Britain.

  • LoL all bad ass "Here we go!" stabs german soldier in the neck with knife.

  • yeah canadians kicking ass, thats what im talkin about, but there is no way that germans were that stupid, were they?

  • @Jordan96CND no they germans where very intelligent, this is just a propaganda movie the germans would have been much much bigger and stronger than the canadians.

  • @JordoF6 i wouldnt say stronger you prick

  • @Jordan96CND eh mate im not being racist against canadians im not even german but irish i am just putting facts out there i am neutral here but i am saying that germans being a relativerly nordic race would be much larger and stronger is physical strenght on average than canadians or any other people like the french or english as canadians are mainly french, irish and english mixed together and english and french are not tall or on average strenght comapred to the nordics.

  • @JordoF6 Too bad for them that wars aren't won by arm wrestling.

  • I like how they portrayed the humongous casualties taken by both sides. Oh wait-

  • It is not good ... that the allied soldiers are shown as professional killers and the german military was the last real enemy the world has had ... therefore it will be hard to have a better victory next

  • waqtching this movie in history class

  • Can someone explain to me the german kid at around 2:55? did his legs get blown off and he's just sitting there?

  • @xStrykerJ More like scared stiff and stunned from the violence.

  • @xStrykerJ its called shock

  • WOW this IS WORLD WAR 1 i dont find many ww1 movies i was wondering if this was ww2 this is just as instense as saving private ryan

  • ww1 is like 97 year ago

  • that sould be on youporn

  • why do they wait so long to return fire? Their range is big enough?

  • @Stormgebieder Because it is a stupid movie. Why wait to kill enemy soldiers close to you when you can begin killing them farther away? Stupid movie.

  • @1Dougy85 And if you had any sense of military strategy you would know the closer the Germans were, the better accuracy the Canadians would have. And since they are armed with SMLE Enfields the can shoot 2x more rounds making it easier to mow them down.

  • @darth2031 If you had any common sense or sense of military strategy you would know that more Germans could have been dropped farther away than when they started shooting. They were awfully close when they started and they weren't short of ammo. They could have avoided the hand to hand combat but like I said, stupid movie.

  • @1Dougy85 because they couldn't start when they were farther away. you don't know much about combat..

  • @superacer1 They were prone and had time to take aim on a moving target and not all targets were moving. Not all shots would hit the target and the targets weren't very far away. There was no reason to wait until they were 40 feet away. Guess you know everything about combat.

  • @1Dougy85 how bout i give you a bolt action rifle with 8 rounds and see how many of the 100+ enemies charging right at you you could hit from farther than 40 feet

  • @superacer1 I’ll hit one. One less to deal with when they're within 40 feet. BTW Did the US Marines June 3 1918 along the Reims Paris road near Belleau Wood wait until the Germans were within 40 feet? Did Canadians 1914-18 wait until 40 feet to break up a German couinter attack? Doubt it. They always defeated them and started firing on the Germans with artillery while they were still forming up, if they could.

It is a movie and done for suspense

  • @superacer1 Seriously, I’m sure we can find something much more worthy to argue over than this. How bout, all Americans are fat and ugly. There we go.

Think carefully, If 100+ are charging would you wait until they’re within 40 feet before you shoot. Why? I’d start when they’re much farther. Use indirect fire with machineguns. They did that in WW1, they couldn’t see them but knew they were there. Spray the area and you will get some.

  • @superacer1 Unless there is a good reason not to open fire earlier like short of ammo or surprise ambush or whatever. This movie part had at least one Lewis gun in it. Why not use it to kill the enemy before they come within 40 feet? How about I give you a Lewis gun with a full magazine and see how many of the 100+ enemies charging right at you you could hit from farther than 40 feet

  • @1Dougy85 a support unit of 60 versus an entire battalion...

  • @superacer1 What? Did it happen at Passchendaele? Don't know. Please explain what you want to say.

  • @1Dougy85 forget it, you win the argument but you're still wrong.. have a nice day

  • @Stormgebieder The closer the germans are to the canadian lines, almost every single shot will hit a target mowing down the advancing lines faster than less accuracy from 50 yards.

  • is this ww1 or ww2?

  • @KingsofSparta Really?

  • @zipsrule really what? i dont know much about ww1. i assume ww1 as the boy soldier coz i know that in ww1 14 yr old boys lied about there ages to join. also the british wear simular uniform in ww1 and ww2

  • @KingsofSparta Those are Canadians notice no British accent

  • @KingsofSparta

    r u from mars?

  • @KingsofSparta wtf not knowing that

  • @KingsofSparta its ww1

  • @KingsofSparta dumb fuck. obviously ww1

  • @Olekander fuk off . the question has already been answered

  • @KingsofSparta Yes, but the fact you didn't know shows you're either american, very stupid, or both.

  • @Olekander look fuk off. im birtish and how the FUCK dare you insult me by calling me british.!! I DIDN'T KNOW. WHO GIVES A FUK? anyway WHY FUKIN answer me when i question is already answered

  • @KingsofSparta idiot? I called you american. And you're hella stupid if you couldn't work it out. disgrace really to the men who died here.

  • @Olekander fuk off i was never told much about ww1, everybody was too busy insulting me rather than educating me
