The Fault Based Model involves personal accountability ,lack of willpower ,unhealthy eating,unhealthy living ,poor food choices and lifestyle. I am obsessed with food. I think about it all day long. the difference is, I don't eat that much really, except for times when there's a lot of food around me and I'm alone, sometimes I binge and then purge it up so I don't gain weight. Food obsession made me completely inspired (for lack of a better word) to start abusing speed several years ago. It was the only thing that ever took my mind of food. But I'm off that now, and I want to eat all day long.

Each year a child is faced with 10,000 messages about food. Many are highly processed,and made to taste quite good. We need to find a way to protect our children from BIG FOOD COMPANIES and marketing strategies. We live in a TOXIC ENVIROMEMNT and vending machines need to be taken out of all child centered buildings . I am very lucky to live in my community and I hope to give something back. I have been handing out letters of support all over this city ,and people have been awesome. They see my giant size shirt (billboard really) and they often read outloud as they drive past me. I have been seeking our local media to produce a story about this effort. I will continue to work at this,and I have been linking to national networks as well. It will be up to the viewers to call and pressure them.

My marriage with food was very sickly and I sought out a coach to help me work it out. I self hated with food ,and I simply was unable to address this on my own. METABOLISM As I grew up my system was conditioned to starve and then binge. The starving helped to keep the excess weight off. As an adult the only starving was implemented by me. And in 1980 I lost 29 pounds in 6 weeks and reached 176 pounds .Then in 90 I repeated this ,when I began school in 90 I weighed in at 249. Currently my effort is to walk 2 hours per day,and work on this video material. I am eating regularly all day ,and it feels awesome. Paul
Thanksgiving Holliday Canada. I can put on 10 pounds on a holliday weekend ,and I recently attended a gathering and I ate one sigle modest meal. Prior to formal treatment this was not possible because I always ate until I hit a pain threshold. I have been doing my mechanical eating ,and I have provided my body a chance to work with me in burning off the excesss foods,should there be a need. I had a hard time grasping this notion during treatment ,but I get it now.
Hi, thanks for your reply, this is really helping me, I'm part way through my Sociology AS and am writing a detailed paper on Sociocultural pressures concerning physical appearances, so I need to know all about people's weight opinions. This is also a very personal thing, as I'm bullied over my appearance, and now have unusual eating habits, including fasting for days or random binges. I have never attempted to be diagnosed.

HEALTH CARE WORKERS Do you really believe I made a choice to want to become unhealthy ? I wanted to die 13 years sooner ,and I acively and fully alert made a choice to cripple myself with extreme obesity. The ARTICULATION of this problem needs to be explored ,and reviewing what we believe at core might just allow for a meaningful response.We can sift through this reactive response. How can we support someone to make changes if we smack them with responses that discriminate .
OBESITY is complex and it will take awareness to provide an ANTIDOTE for this issue. This requires no money ,just a review of current dynamics. Do we intend on marginalizing a segment of society.Currently 1 point 2 billion obese ,the same number of people starving to death. And by 2015 overweight and obese will reach 2 point 5 Billion. The question is can we filter out fiction from truth. I am far too busy walking each day to worry about obesity.OBESITY WILL NEED TO TAKE CARE OF ITSELF.
My unhealthy marriage with food was created out of severe neglect and poverty. I am not talking about red faced shame .I am speaking about core self hating toxic shame. This toxic shame interfered with my ability to aspire into the person I wanted to become. I was crippled emotionally ,so when subjects arose that I had no antidote for ,I began to feel the shame. I felt I deserved to go hungry and in some way I was responsible for the mess I was born into. I allowed toxic shame to grow.
This is a very complex issue ,and I do not have a uniform solution. I mood altered with foods,so much so that I became a slave to my eating disorder. I walked in to a treatment center with no dignity or self worth remaining.I parked 10 blocks away from the building. I never felt so low and worthless. This was very very challenging,and I had to face my own distorted views on what Mental Health was . It is the best thing I had ever done for my Family or my own personal growth.

I have been walking all around LU in Thunder Bay. The students and staff are extremely polite and respectful,and I have spoken to many .I have also provided a copy of a book for their libraray. The Hungry Years by William Leith wasmost helpful to me in this process. This is a very complex process,and I wish you well upon your journey.
In order to address this I had to go to the buffet of information.Stories from MSNBC' Namby Pamby' and The Washington Post WRONG WAY TO FIGHT FAT. They are out there and freely available . You can also visit the Rudd Center and call the Smith Clinic 343 2400 in Thunder Bay for more information. If you are being told how simple this process is I urge you to do some research. In 7 years we will have TWO POINT FIVE BILLION OBESE PEOPLE.
I am far too busy to be focused on obesity and weight loss. Walking helps me to increase my metabolism and eating every few hours is also very helpful. Rarely do I binge as long as I do my mechanical eating. My food marriage was quite sickly. In order to keep the addiction off balance I need to eat regularly.The skills I had to develop in childhood are no longer needed.I can simply go to the fridge and find a healthy nutritious snack ,but I now can taste the foods .
Trauma of any kind can rob a person of the ability to reach beyond their dreams. I found a guide to walk me through the burning embers of my life. I have stopped paying a debt that was never mine. I was emotionally disconnected from my daily life and then I was disconnected from my physical being. FOOD was my drug to do this .I self hated using foods ,and I hardly think I am alone in this . If you are mood altering with anything to help you cope with life ,help is a call away.
Obesity is a by product,and in order to create an effective working intervention we need a full discussion. Ideas that may seem far to the left ,and may seem strange at first. How can we identify built in discrimination against the obese person??? Take a look at the commercials on TV and identify how the obese are depicted. My story is also at the Fort Frances Times ,August 27 th. Obesity is deeply personal and very complex . However, simple easy solutions are stated by the BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY. We are on the verge of 5,000 views and that just shocks me. You are not alone if you have a struggle with foods.I had to find a way to expose it,and I had no chance of ever facing it. Dear Health providers, I do not feel the entire world needs in depth counselling . I was treated by a dietician in 97 and what was missed was how I was using foods to self medicate . This could have been very helpful ,instead I was made to believe that I failed . The truth is that the intervention skipped a critical piece ,and I am pretty upset at the general apathetic response I am receiving. I wonder if this is not directly related to the material the Rudd Center video.
This is information and only information. I am working at improving my health and using food to nourish my body. I am trying to eat regular meals all through the day. I feel so very awesome and I take control over my food intake. I need to be involved in taking on my health. It is prescious to me ,where before I used foods to SELF HATE. This model will only go as far you decide to take it. I have been unable to attract the attention from my local health providers.
Belly breathing is allowing the air to go deep into your stomach. This helps me to feel what I have eaten. I use to try and fill my chest cavity . This is rather hard to discribe ,but I I wanted to fill a rigid stiff muscular area. I hope you give some of these little tricks a try ,and I also use a luncheon plate .My regular dinner plates are massive. I still have to be really careful at dinner ,but I have had many many sucessful meals.
I am far far too busy walking and eating all through the day. I eat all foods in balance ,and this includes all foods. I tried the low fat stuff ,but I just ate twice as much. Guilt free eating is really pretty cool. If I want cake I simply sit down and slowly taste all of this sweet treat. Before treatment I would be eating as I preped my snack,so one piece of cake turned into 3 .I always ate very very fast ,and I tried to fill a very empty place. Belly breathing helps me .

UNHEALTHY MARRIAGE WITH FOODS. Is this something you can feel or see???? I was a slave to my binge eating disorder,and I was never provided the skills to address the issue. This complex battle requires a complex multi layered intervention. Currently I am HELPING ME TO HELP MYSELF. A generous portion of this is this effort to expose the underlieing discrimmination. One thought is to abuse obese people so as to motivate them. IS THIS MODEL WORKING?????? I had support to build a plan.
I serviced my trauma debt by SELF HATING ,SELF LOATHING, and this negative self interrupted a natural flow of self care. I had a real hard time allowing myself to feel a sense of self care . When I am doing my self care ,I am not stuffing an empty hollow canyon. I could never feel a sense of self care ,so I moved to a a much more hateful place . I often felt crippled emotionally ,empty ,flat and filled with rage. This rage moved into binge eating,and I had no idea I was out of control.
Take the time to see my channel,for this is but one small piece. This is very difficult for many to grasp. We have a very narrow view of mental health ,and I am the first to recognize I felt uneasy,and therefore I often reacted. This reaction was never my thought out response. A thought out response would require work and effort to dispell my stuck state mindset. I suspect this will require a mental shift,and the filtration process may feel uncomfortable because it is new and different.
Mental stress drove me to mood alter.I selfishly spent money ,and tried to find many things to pull me out of a downward spiral. I thought I found help,and for a time I claimed sobriety from my mental discourse. I was sadly mistaken,and I am working to find ways to create ways to have supports at the ready. These supports need to be looked upon as means of stabalizing health. I used foods ,anger,credit to stabalize my mental health. I acticely tried to address all of this alone.
HEALTH In order to protect my health I need to be an important partner in the overall scheme of things. Prior to me knowing anything about MALE BINGE EATING, I simply ignored my overall health. I took care of all of my vehicles with preventitive maintanance ,and I decided to quite taking care of me .I got tired of all of the nasty comments,and I allowed my mental filter to self hate with foods. All my body did was to adjust so that I could be rather active.I was destroying my health .
In a recent news story they explained that in order to maintain a 10 % weight adjustment,we need to build in 275 minutes per week of activity. Five chardio workouts for 55 minutes per week,and that means 5 days out of 7. At the same time as we adjust our food intake to remain on target. TAKE THE TIME TO DECIDE WHERE YOU ARE ,AND WHAT YOU ARE FEELING LIKE TODAY.I FEEL SO VERY MUCH STRONGER ,AND I can move much better . My legs are able to move much more freely,and this feels awesome.
OBESITY IS A BY PRODUCT. I have no time to focus on OBESITY because I am far too busy being active.OBESITY WILL TAKE CARE OF ITSELF. I AM WAY TO BUSY EATING MY REGULAR MEALS BY USING MECHANICAL EATING. I HAVE MY BREAKFAST INSIDE OF THE FIRST 30 MINUTES OF MY WAKE UP. MY BODY IS BURNING FUEL,AND I MAKE CERTAIN THAT I EAT EVERY FEW HOURS. IF I SKIP MEALS ,OR GO TOO LONG BETWEEN MEALS MY DISORDER TAKES OVER. WHEN THE DISORDER TAKES HOLD I BITE MY LIPS,CHEEKS,TONGUE AND FORK.
THE HUNGRY YEARS BY WILLIAM LEITH. In this book he talks about a very confusing concept. Sated ,is the word he uses,and for me I had no concept of what that was. How could I when I never tasted foods,as all I did was shovell it in.SWEATS,SALTY,HOT BURNING HOT ,OR ICE COLD . I CREATED AN ECONOMY FOR MYSELF,AND I CONVINCED MYSELF ANY FOOD THAT I ATE WHILE STANDING WOULD NOT COUNT TOWARD MY FOOD INTAKE. THIS IS THE FILTERING PROCESS OF A PERSON WITH A EATING DISORDER. GO fIGURE!!!!

Is your marriage with food balanced or are you a slave to your acting out eating. I WAS A SLAVE TO MY ACTING OUT EATING. I WOULD RATHER EAT ALL ALONE AND I ALWAYS ATE UNTIL I WAS INSEVERE PAIN. THE KIND OF PAIN AFTER A THANKSGIVING MEAL .I WAS ALWAYS ACTIVE AND THAT HELPED TO KEEP ME FROM REACHING GREATER NUMBERS.
IF WEIGHT LOSS IS SO VERY SIMPLE ,THAN WHY IS THE RUDD CENTER PREDICTING EVERY SINGLE U S citizen to be obese in 40 years. The World Health Organization is predicting 2.5 Billion Obese People by 2015. We have to educate ourselves ,and we need to filter out information that is discrimminatory. If we inderectly or directly insult an individual I suspect that they will not return to that setting. If at the school gym we make fun of a kid due to obesity.I doubt this will inspire him.
There is an industry that wants you to believe addressing obesity is SIMPLE. What they are saying is that if you cannot make these LIFESTYLE changes you are unable to take control of your life. I sought out treatment for my mental health. I was often filled with anger ,and I can get triggered into a self hating mindset. It can look very different to each person as some over drink and drive.This is high risk behaviour ,but food allowed me to self hate .I had to find BALANCE.

I can relate to a lot of this because the binge aspect of my bulimia is consumed with food addiction/obsession. I also overspend. When you say "everything in abundance" and setting yourself up all day for bingeing behaviors... hits me like a knife in the chest. Are you the man in the video?

I think when we figure out exactly what's going on inside the brain of an obese person, we'll be able to formulate ideas of how to control one's eating habits. The binge eating is unbelievable. If we can locate EXACTLY what is causing this addiction to eating, then why not manipulate it as we have with schizophrenics (drugs that stop hallucinations). Drugs that prevent eating...
With whats being put into foods in our modern day and age, I would have to say yes. Growth Hormones? Drinking the same fluoridated water that we drink. Maybe not a heavy substance like heroin or meth, but a substance nonetheless.
I think this is interesting and informative, but I wish there were more of these sort of things that didn't concentrate only on food intake and food related obesity. there are many reasons that people are heavy, and it's not always food, but people don't seem to know or believe that. Please watch the video by National Geographic about Cushings Disease, but that is only one of the causes. there are meds, conditions, genetic disorders, hormone disorders.. it's not always food.
Listen to this man, he speaks from experience. I know Paul and this is a very serious subject to him, so learn to see the signs and catch yourself or your kids before it gets to be a problem.
Obesity is an epidemic in today's world. Many people have trouble losing weight and/or keeping weight off because of carbohydrate cravings that occur when your brain has depleted serotonin levels. Carbs only give you a short burst of serotonin. Through deep sleep, one can replenish their serotonin levels. This will result in fewer carbohydrate cravings and more daytime energy.
BTW, is this thunder bay Ontario? May I ask if your treatment was covered by the Canadian healthcare system? I wonder if America's obesity problem would be lessoned if everyone had access to doctors to help diagnose and treat conditions like this.

You asked for my opinion. I think a small % of people have binging problems -- eating, booze, smokes, etc. -- that should be treated. I also think some countries, like the U.S., have obesity problems that affect a large % of the population, and cannot be blamed entirely on medical problems or disorders, like yours. It's really not black and white.
This "gift" to recognize your bodys signals will work as a curse when you include fast food or chemically grown food lacking nutrition. Cause only when you know the "connection" between food only then you will be "thrown offtrack" and you will start binging in the process of "responding" to your body.
Ppl without this gift just go and visit a shrink when they are stressed. Whereas as the luckiest ones(who have the "gift" and also access to nutritious food) just eat their mama roast beef & rfine
I feel that the MSG and other excitotoxins just give us a "fake feeling" of satisfaction(emotional). After a few hours our body again demands food for the same reason.I feel our body is telling us to eat vitamin B12 but you are not recognizing it because of your addiction to MSGladen fast food. And your body cannot "talk" to you but it can tell you to eat more and more and it just keeps waiting for the required nutrition/food group and if it doesnt get it, again sends you a signal to eat more..
I remember in initial stages of my emotional bonding to food, a good fried liver would "make me happy". I remember just a few pieces would do the trick. Now I have just forgotten the liver, cause I never made a connection to it back then. But when I want to eat to "feel happy" i am just pick up the phone and dial a dominoes or some chinese. I visualize the oozing cheese that would calm me the same way the squishy liver would, but when i eat the pizza the feeling was only temporary or not there.
I feel that fast food(food without nutrition) is the cause for binging disorder. Your body not only eats for satisfying hunder but also for specific food groups(carb cravings and sugar cravings). I used to feel like eating pomegrantes and refreshing foods. Fast food throws these urges offtract. Your body is only smart enough to ask you to eat and FF causes serious imbalances which our body tries to fill by tell us to eat more and more, leading to binges. Vitaming B12 calms you
Perhaps blame can be placed on the food industry to a certain extent, but it is ultimately the responsibility of the consumer to choose what to eat. I don't think it comes as a surprise that most fast food is unhealthy; most people do realize that it isn't the best thing to eat. Maybe fast food distributers can create alternate methods of preparing food that is much more beneficial.
The Food Industry has alot to blame for this. Foods being produced with additives and perservatives are making people fat. People rely too much on Fast foods to eat out instead of healthy food like Lean meat, Fruits, Vegetables and fiber.

I am obsessed with food. I think about it all day long. the difference is, I don't eat that much really, except for times when there's a lot of food around me and I'm alone, sometimes I binge and then purge it up so I don't gain weight. Food obsession made me completely inspired (for lack of a better word) to start abusing speed several years ago. It was the only thing that ever took my mind of food. But I'm off that now, and I want to eat all day long.

I am very lucky to live in my community and I hope to give something back. I have been handing out letters of support all over this city ,and people have been awesome. They see my giant size shirt (billboard really) and they often read outloud as they drive past me. I have been seeking our local media to produce a story about this effort. METABOLISM As I grew up my system was conditioned to starve and then binge. The starving helped to keep the excess weight off. As an adult the only starving was implemented by me. And in 1980 I lost 29 pounds in 6 weeks and reached 176 pounds .Then in 90 I repeated this ,when I began school in 90 I weighed in at 249. Currently my effort is to walk 2 hours per day,and work on this video material. I am eating regularly all day ,and it feels awesome. Paul

Thanksgiving Holliday Canada. I can put on 10 pounds on a holliday weekend ,and I recently attended a gathering and I ate one sigle modest meal. Prior to formal treatment this was not possible because I always ate until I hit a pain threshold. I have been doing my mechanical eating ,and I have provided my body a chance to work with me in burning off the excesss foods,should there be a need. I had a hard time grasping this notion during treatment ,but I get it now.

Hi, thanks for your reply, this is really helping me, I'm part way through my Sociology AS and am writing a detailed paper on Sociocultural pressures concerning physical appearances, so I need to know all about people's weight opinions. This is also a very personal thing, as I'm bullied over my appearance, and now have unusual eating habits, including fasting for days or random binges. I have never attempted to be diagnosed.

My unhealthy marriage with food was created out of severe neglect and poverty. I am not talking about red faced shame .I am speaking about core self hating toxic shame. This toxic shame interfered with my ability to aspire into the person I wanted to become. I was crippled emotionally ,so when subjects arose that I had no antidote for ,I began to feel the shame. I felt I deserved to go hungry and in some way I was responsible for the mess I was born into. I allowed toxic shame to grow.

This is a very complex issue ,and I do not have a uniform solution. I mood altered with foods,so much so that I became a slave to my eating disorder. I walked in to a treatment center with no dignity or self worth remaining.I parked 10 blocks away from the building. I never felt so low and worthless. This was very very challenging,and I had to face my own distorted views on what Mental Health was . It is the best thing I had ever done for my Family or my own personal growth.

I am far too busy to be focused on obesity and weight loss. Walking helps me to increase my metabolism and eating every few hours is also very helpful. Rarely do I binge as long as I do my mechanical eating. My food marriage was quite sickly. In order to keep the addiction off balance I need to eat regularly.The skills I had to develop in childhood are no longer needed.I can simply go to the fridge and find a healthy nutritious snack ,but I now can taste the foods .

Trauma of any kind can rob a person of the ability to reach beyond their dreams. I found a guide to walk me through the burning embers of my life. I have stopped paying a debt that was never mine. I was emotionally disconnected from my daily life and then I was disconnected from my physical being. FOOD was my drug to do this .I self hated using foods ,and I hardly think I am alone in this . Is it possible that discrimination against obese people is interfering with any real measure of support? Obesity is a by product ,so how can we get to the route cause . There are many forces that want us to remain in the dark. How come diets never fail?????? People are blamed for a response that is maladaptive . Any wonder why most plans are linked to blame. Dear Health providers, I do not feel the entire world needs in depth counselling . I was treated by a dietician in 97 and what was missed was how I was using foods to self medicate . This could have been very helpful ,instead I was made to believe that I failed . The truth is that the intervention skipped a critical piece ,and I am pretty upset at the general apathetic response I am receiving. I wonder if this is not directly related to the material the Rudd Center video.

Belly breathing is allowing the air to go deep into your stomach. This helps me to feel what I have eaten. I use to try and fill my chest cavity . This is rather hard to discribe ,but I I wanted to fill a rigid stiff muscular area. I hope you give some of these little tricks a try ,and I also use a luncheon plate .My regular dinner plates are massive. I still have to be really careful at dinner ,but I have had many many sucessful meals.

I am far far too busy walking and eating all through the day. I eat all foods in balance ,and this includes all foods. I tried the low fat stuff ,but I just ate twice as much. Guilt free eating is really pretty cool. If I want cake I simply sit down and slowly taste all of this sweet treat. Before treatment I would be eating as I preped my snack,so one piece of cake turned into 3 .I always ate very very fast ,and I tried to fill a very empty place. Belly breathing helps me .

I serviced my trauma debt by SELF HATING ,SELF LOATHING, and this negative self interrupted a natural flow of self care. I had a real hard time allowing myself to feel a sense of self care . When I am doing my self care ,I am not stuffing an empty hollow canyon. I could never feel a sense of self care ,so I moved to a a much more hateful place . I often felt crippled emotionally ,empty ,flat and filled with rage. This rage moved into binge eating,and I had no idea I was out of control.

Take the time to see my channel,for this is but one small piece. This is very difficult for many to grasp. We have a very narrow view of mental health ,and I am the first to recognize I felt uneasy,and therefore I often reacted. This reaction was never my thought out response. A thought out response would require work and effort to dispell my stuck state mindset. I suspect this will require a mental shift,and the filtration process may feel uncomfortable because it is new and different.

Mental stress drove me to mood alter.I selfishly spent money ,and tried to find many things to pull me out of a downward spiral. I thought I found help,and for a time I claimed sobriety from my mental discourse. I was sadly mistaken,and I am working to find ways to create ways to have supports at the ready. These supports need to be looked upon as means of stabalizing health. I used foods ,anger,credit to stabalize my mental health. I acticely tried to address all of this alone.

HEALTH In order to protect my health I need to be an important partner in the overall scheme of things. Prior to me knowing anything about MALE BINGE EATING, I simply ignored my overall health. I took care of all of my vehicles with preventitive maintanance ,and I decided to quite taking care of me .I got tired of all of the nasty comments,and I allowed my mental filter to self hate with foods. All my body did was to adjust so that I could be rather active.I was destroying my health .

In a recent news story they explained that in order to maintain a 10 % weight adjustment,we need to build in 275 minutes per week of activity. Five chardio workouts for 55 minutes per week,and that means 5 days out of 7. At the same time as we adjust our food intake to remain on target. TAKE THE TIME TO DECIDE WHERE YOU ARE ,AND WHAT YOU ARE FEELING LIKE TODAY.I FEEL SO VERY MUCH STRONGER ,AND I can move much better . My legs are able to move much more freely,and this feels awesome.

OBESITY IS A BY PRODUCT. I have no time to focus on OBESITY because I am far too busy being active.OBESITY WILL TAKE CARE OF ITSELF. I AM WAY TO BUSY EATING MY REGULAR MEALS BY USING MECHANICAL EATING. I HAVE MY BREAKFAST INSIDE OF THE FIRST 30 MINUTES OF MY WAKE UP. MY BODY IS BURNING FUEL,AND I MAKE CERTAIN THAT I EAT EVERY FEW HOURS. IF I SKIP MEALS ,OR GO TOO LONG BETWEEN MEALS MY DISORDER TAKES OVER. WHEN THE DISORDER TAKES HOLD I BITE MY LIPS,CHEEKS,TONGUE AND FORK.

THE HUNGRY YEARS BY WILLIAM LEITH. In this book he talks about a very confusing concept. Sated ,is the word he uses,and for me I had no concept of what that was. How could I when I never tasted foods,as all I did was shovell it in.SWEATS,SALTY,HOT BURNING HOT ,OR ICE COLD . I CREATED AN ECONOMY FOR MYSELF,AND I CONVINCED MYSELF ANY FOOD THAT I ATE WHILE STANDING WOULD NOT COUNT TOWARD MY FOOD INTAKE. THIS IS THE FILTERING PROCESS OF A PERSON WITH A EATING DISORDER. IF WEIGHT LOSS IS SO VERY SIMPLE ,THAN WHY IS THE RUDD CENTER PREDICTING EVERY SINGLE U S citizen to be obese in 40 years. The World Health Organization is predicting 2.5 Billion Obese People by 2015. We have to educate ourselves ,and we need to filter out information that is discrimminatory. If we inderectly or directly insult an individual I suspect that they will not return to that setting. If at the school gym we make fun of a kid due to obesity.I doubt this will inspire him.

There is an industry that wants you to believe addressing obesity is SIMPLE. What they are saying is that if you cannot make these LIFESTYLE changes you are unable to take control of your life. I sought out treatment for my mental health. I was often filled with anger ,and I can get triggered into a self hating mindset. It can look very different to each person as some over drink and drive.This is high risk behaviour ,but food allowed me to self hate .I had to find BALANCE.

I needed to expose this illness,and I believe if we can identify food as a substance,we can address this more effectively. I had to build a healthy marriage with foods,all foods. This is about creating a new model,and I hope obese people will not be discrimminated against . I fail to see how that inspires people to face the real issues. I can relate to a lot of this because the binge aspect of my bulimia is consumed with food addiction/obsession. I also overspend. When you say "everything in abundance" and setting yourself up all day for bingeing behaviors... hits me like a knife in the chest. Are you the man in the video?

I think when we figure out exactly what's going on inside the brain of an obese person, we'll be able to formulate ideas of how to control one's eating habits. The binge eating is unbelievable. With whats being put into foods in our modern day and age, I would have to say yes. Growth Hormones? Drinking the same fluoridated water that we drink. Maybe not a heavy substance like heroin or meth, but a substance nonetheless.

I think this is interesting and informative, but I wish there were more of these sort of things that didn't concentrate only on food intake and food related obesity. there are many reasons that people are heavy, and it's not always food, but people don't seem to know or believe that. Please watch the video by National Geographic about Cushings Disease, but that is only one of the causes. there are meds, conditions, genetic disorders, hormone disorders.. it's not always food.

Obesity is an epidemic in today's world. Many people have trouble losing weight and/or keeping weight off because of carbohydrate cravings that occur when your brain has depleted serotonin levels. Carbs only give you a short burst of serotonin. Through deep sleep, one can replenish their serotonin levels. This will result in fewer carbohydrate cravings and more daytime energy.

You asked for my opinion. I think a small % of people have binging problems -- eating, booze, smokes, etc. -- that should be treated. I also think some countries, like the U.S., have obesity problems that affect a large % of the population, and cannot be blamed entirely on medical problems or disorders, like yours. It's really not black and white.

This "gift" to recognize your bodys signals will work as a curse when you include fast food or chemically grown food lacking nutrition. Cause only when you know the "connection" between food only then you will be "thrown offtrack" and you will start binging in the process of "responding" to your body.
Ppl without this gift just go and visit a shrink when they are stressed. Whereas as the luckiest ones(who have the "gift" and also access to nutritious food) just eat their mama roast beef & rfine

I feel that the MSG and other excitotoxins just give us a "fake feeling" of satisfaction(emotional). After a few hours our body again demands food for the same reason.I feel our body is telling us to eat vitamin B12 but you are not recognizing it because of your addiction to MSGladen fast food. And your body cannot "talk" to you but it can tell you to eat more and more and it just keeps waiting for the required nutrition/food group and if it doesnt get it, again sends you a signal to eat more..

I remember in initial stages of my emotional bonding to food, a good fried liver would "make me happy". I remember just a few pieces would do the trick. Now I have just forgotten the liver, cause I never made a connection to it back then. But when I want to eat to "feel happy" i am just pick up the phone and dial a dominoes or some chinese. I visualize the oozing cheese that would calm me the same way the squishy liver would, but when i eat the pizza the feeling was only temporary or not there.

I feel that fast food(food without nutrition) is the cause for binging disorder. Your body not only eats for satisfying hunder but also for specific food groups(carb cravings and sugar cravings). I used to feel like eating pomegrantes and refreshing foods. Fast food throws these urges offtract. Your body is only smart enough to ask you to eat and FF causes serious imbalances which our body tries to fill by tell us to eat more and more, leading to binges. Vitaming B12 calms you

Perhaps blame can be placed on the food industry to a certain extent, but it is ultimately the responsibility of the consumer to choose what to eat. I don't think it comes as a surprise that most fast food is unhealthy; most people do realize that it isn't the best thing to eat. Maybe fast food distributers can create alternate methods of preparing food that is much more beneficial.
