@disturbedisbetter Uh, that's not really what this time period is. This is after Vulgar. This is from Withering to Death. And there were two albums that came between Gauze and Vulgar, Macabre and Kisou.
Er... You know, I really can't tell. Why don't you just look up the translated lyrics and decide for yourself? One of the joys of Dir en grey is trying to figure out what the heck Kyo is trying to get across.
I take a look at lyrics and I think it's about people who are doing awful things in the name of the "God" and about people who are "believers", but are bad persons...like asking "Would believer be punished for his bad akts's?"
It's my oppinion...
Did you ppl see illustration for this song in Kyo's poem book? huh...
I don't know if it's against religion or god, but I don't think so. maybe wether nor...
I saw the illustration in kyos poem book and it was pretty provoking and dark. So I don't think they are christians even though they wear christian symbols and so on, I think it's because of the atmosphere. Like in a live version of Hydra 666 there were candles and Maria statues to effect the special atmosphere also kyo wears a buddhistic band but I don't think they are religious, it's the style..
Kyo is a bhuddist, so is die. Japan is not a christian country, and I've heard him say "fuck your god", "I'll show you god" ect. in negative ways. so I'm sure this song is agains god, or at least the christian image of god.
He generally doesn't seem to be referring to a religious god when he says stuff like that. It's generally directed towards the people themselves, like the messed up things done in the name of god. He often seems to refer to our desires as god as well.
well i think he means that god cant do everything, and sometimes people are alone and torn, and that his beliefs keep him free, but it comes with a price.
I really liked your video and your channel. If you need any help getting this video or channel exposed I use a site called tubeviews.(net) It has really helped like 20 of my main videos get to the top in position. God Bless!
I really respect Kyo's voice. But seriously he should be punished for killing it's wide spectrum with the marrow of a bone screams and growling and all that chain smoking.
Onto and before the, it withers and withers tour he must have had one of the widest voices in the world.
It's still awesome don't get me wrong but the lives lately.. He's voice just can't bare all those high notes as before.
Actually, Kyo had been hospitalized from coughing up blood while and after doing that album. So he couldin't scream as loud, but now hes all better. :3
Kyo is a good singer and I respect that he puts his heart and soul into the music while on stage but he could at least put his brain in it. Nobody should flame this because its f**king true.
Hmm, while - vocals-wise - it's not my favorite live performance of this song, but it's definitely my favorite for the performance Kyo puts on. I like when he yells out to the audience near the end of the song at 3:09.
i agree kyo sounds like he isnt saying the whole word, and parts are missing and the crowd isnt saying them loud enough for the mike to pic it up and the camera cant pic barely anything unless you scream into the mike and everything
Such a good song, ilove how it flashes two different videos at the beggining, i dont understand why Kyo does notes on recordings he knows he's not gonna be able to hit live lol but he still has the sickest vocals ive ever heard
meh, as said before me, yeah sacrificing looks for sound is pretty square... i mean the recording sounds SOOOOOO much better. infact its one of my favs, dunno now bout now though.
it not so much that they sacrificed sound for looks, but the looks. They just have a more mature sound (being a band for 10+ years will do that to ya). As for dropping V-K, i don't really care about it, it's more about the music when it comes to music for me...
Grief - while a pretty kickin' and intense song - is a pretty poor example of band maturity. The music is pretty good, but not anything particularly unique or out of the ordinary, and the lyrics are just... well, stuff in broken English, including a truckload of "fuck"s.
... 5 times? Maybe in the first 30 seconds of the song or so, but the song's longer than 30 seconds. Does it matter if it's 5, 10 or 15 times, though?
Well the lyrics are only written to have six (sorry got it wrong) mentions of the word. Hundreds of musicians put in extra swearwords all the time.
And it does matter for the point you were trying to make, though you could have picked a better song for your example... Like LIE BURIED WITH A VENGEANCE, th whole last 20 seconds consist of swearing... or Saku
Sure, but hundreds of musicians doing something doesn't make it better or worse.
Sure, sure, but Grief was the song brought up, and the main point I was trying to make wasn't that Dir En Grey swear a lot, but rather that they, as a whole, don't come across to me as having matured too any impressive degree on their new album. I hadn't even noticed the swearing on Saku, but whoa, lmao. >_>
Oh, there's a difference alright, and I'm sure it's indicative of personal growth in the individual band members, but from a musical perspective I don't think one can say that TMOAB is a more mature album than those they've made in the past.
Definitely, but whether that's a positive or a negative is all in the eye of the beholder, I'd say. Personally I'd rather have another JC R'n'R than another Agitated Screams of Maggots, though.
I see where you're coming from, but to be fair JC R'n'R is only one album before, so it's not as if JC R'n'R was the first song they ever did and ASofM was the last...
Plus they did give reasons for why TMOAB was so heavier and/or different, so the case may be different for the next one depending on where they are at the time...
Si si, I'm just saying that I'd prefer to see them going in that slightly more "rock"y direction (they did, to some degree, do this with Disabled Complexes, which I consider one of the highlights of TMOAB) rather than trying to go all-out heavy on us.
Hey, they're free to do whatever they want. (: It's their band, their music, their time and their choice, so if they keep making songs I find compelling, I'll keep listening, and if they don't, I'll just find something else to do. =P
this band gets radically better with every album they come out with. Its crazy impressive and Kyo has wicked amazing vocals. I actually prefer their sound now then when they were still visual kei. Back then that man sacrificed his voice on poppy little songs.
well yes, not everything they did during their visual kei period was bad. In fact, it was great compared to some of the visual kei out there these days. But Kyo's voice and everyone else's musical skills... just not worth to be sacrificed for looks. Look at Shinya, that man kills on the drums and he's not even half the size of most drummers.
poppy, did you really litened to they old stuff? Ever listened to macabre? That album is pure masterpiece of progressive, they variated so much and the composition was million times more complex and they did bigger songs
Yeah, he used to be awesome, but now he kind of growls everything out(in the lives). Makes me miss the old Diru even more, haha. Well, I still love them.
Kyo's voice is amazing, they're all amazing musicians and composers.
Kyo's English.... is always so amusing. "Jeny loves crack rock'n'roll!" But the strange way he says things makes him an even more unique artist - the crooked teeth, the braces, the bad english, it all makes it more engaging to listen to....
I am a big Diru fan and I love them for their music most of all. In fact I think no matter what I think I'll always like them for the music they make... but it's not bad to be a fan-girl on the side.
It dosent sound right becuase he sings what he wants o-o; I miss the older them.... He sung so much better. But he's still awsome. And the wawawawawawa part made me giggle <3
