People, you're seriously exaggerating how "harmful" it is for a guinea pig to lay on its back. The fact is, cavies in the wild do it on their own to fool predators.
That said, you shouldn't FORCE it to lay on its back. And yes, the guinea pig's nails are too long.

U should really cut those nails, if guineapigs have long nails, normally they have trouble walking. So you should do that, with either having a brick in the cage where they walk often, or buy a guineapig nail trimmer (I have both! :P)
i did this with my gp R.I.P baby girl ( stupid snakes :( ) she loved it i did it on my legs tough so her spine ws in the gap so there was no pressure :) she stayed there for mins then she would get cranky when i flipped her back over. she would be great at backstroke:)
Ummmm...those nails need to be clipped, say a month ago!! When they start curling around they are wayyyyyy to long. Please learn about proper guinea pig care, or else your guinea pig won't be around all that long to do his "funny tricks".

I saw in a guinea pig care book that thats not hurting them in any way! its supposed to mean trust, the longer and calmer they stay on their back, the more they trust you. I know it sounds werid of how they show it but it DOES mean trust. Of course that isn't a good trick until the piggy stays more relaxed and stays. Its like "the playing dead trick".

I saw in a guinea pig care book that thats not hurting them in any way! its supposed to mean trust, the longer and calmer they stay on their back, the more they trust you. I know it sounds werid of how they show it but it DOES mean trust. Of course that isn't a good trick until the piggy stays more relaxed and stays. Its like "the playing dead trick".
