Roger is well learned. I am reading his book right now which is quite challenging.
I disagree with big bang theory seeing a simple alternative as as things move faster their forces get stronger (Strong, Weak, Electromagnetic, Gravity.... are all the forces we know.)
If this happens, then an atomic clock moving at high speed will appear to slow down.
This means time is not a dimension. This also means that all the formulas will still work.
There's no doubt that Roger Penrose has a brilliant mind and is an excellent mathmatician, but lets not forget he is a mathmetician, not a physicist.

@pukaman2000 : this is something we can measure, and we use it in everyday life to synchronise the GPS satellites that circle the earth.
