I read somewhere that scientists think all the house cats came from desert cats, but jungle cats.
A few years ago in China, a jungle cat got into a town and killed two house cats. The owner found the jungle cats was holding one of the cats in mouth. Apparently the jungle one was hunting and trying to get its food away. When trying to get back the body of his cat, the owner were attacked by the jungle cat and were almost hurt. It jumped 180cm high and tried to slap and bite his face or throat.
That was a wild jungle cat of course. Perhaps your ones are raised by human and are more tamed so that your neighbor never complain their house pets are hunted by them. According to the owner who lost his cats, house cats never hunt and eat other house cats.
i forgot how much they weigh, if you google them im sure a bunch of info will come up. of the cats i worked with there, i will say those were the most unfriendly. i dunno if they were just not used to people or that breed just isnt people oriented. i hear servals are more people oriented.
why would you want one? why does everything have to be domesticated? Wild animals are better left alone, where do you think these cats come from? hunters trap them in the wild and then transport them in shitty little cages to start some breeding populations so that people can add them to their collection! just get a normal cat - there is loads of strays and abandoned domestic cats everywhere which need homes!!
just so you know, when you buy a cat from a breeder, they are already domesticated parents, they dont trap babies in the wild, there's already enough jungle cats they dont need to trap anything in the wild, just buy from a reputable breeder
Well, it is known that house cats come from african wild cats (Felis silvestris lybica). Maybe the jungle cat had contributed in this process but it is not confirmed.
Was that really your jungle cats making that noise at the end? My jungle cats make more of a barking noise when calling or they hiss when startled. Beautiful cats! Looks like you take real good care of them.
Amazing! How big is he? I just got an f2 jungle curl kitten about a month ago and posted a vid of him in the tub. The howl is kind of scary at first. My kitty should be 20lbs of man eating muscle when full grown.
One of my cats makes that same gutteral sound if he see an animal outside the safety of our screened porch. The other 5 cats come running to see what the fuss is all about, which gets them all in a huff with each other. Ah, life with cats is wonderful!
These are one of two species that are mainly responsible for today's housecats, the other being the African Wildcat, but in this same area, Caracals were also tamed and infrequently cross-bred with them too.
