It is impossible to write decent Japanese without mastering several thousand Kanji. You might as well like Kanji if you are going to have any hope of becoming proficient at Japanese in its written form.

Hating Kanji is childish. The Japanese are not going to ditch Kanji any time soon. Learn those little pictures and find as much enjoyment as possible while you do it.

Try to learn them with mnemonic hooks (if not done before). I learn chinese Kanji (Hanzi) and they are not difficult at all if you know how to learn them effectively. Try this site:
