Land rovers aren't suv or similar, they're fuv - farmer's utility vehicle - to the extent that original ones could run could run agricultural equipment from a pto take-off.

It just needs a decent set of big mud tyres and a heavy right foot. You don't need to spend thousands buying a rotten 90 or rangey when you can spend a couple of hundred quid on a perfectly good rotten leafer for offroad.

I agree it was abit daft trying to get over that ledge, but it could have been done. I have a 61 Series 2 and absolutely love taking her off road, been trialling in her too. I have just rebuilt her with galv chassis, bulkhead and parabolics all round. I agree that fully restored and prestine landies shouldnt be beaten about, but come on, they are hard as nails.... my landy isn't near prestine, but i love it just the same and off roading is a great pleasure.

i am a series guy.. and they are good. at least these chaps did not tackle the descent sideways. seen maltese people stacked with winches and rollcages in a competition taking such a slope sideways and rolling on the side.. if they hoppped in the back and gave it some wieght proly could have made it. :) hilift as well :)
