The Right To Live Means you have the right to live (not judgment) you also have freedom from arbitrary arrest (which most of these people where suffering from) and freedom from discrimination ( the right to be free from all kinds of discrimination), and right to equality ( the right to be equal) also they can not take away any human rights or else they break article 30 of the UDHR No one can take away your human rights.

I love playing devil's advocate: Human rights don't exist, I have never been awoken to human rights abuses, pictures of degradation have no use but to shock - they don't change minds or make them.
But what I really believe is that I don't remember when I awoke to human rights, I don't know when I awoke to an anti-war, anti-atrocity, anti-persecution mindset. There isn't enough space to really describe my eye opening experience, but, basically, it was through an elderly Romanian couple at my church who fled to America from the Communist regime in Romania. It made me more aware of how blessed I am as an American, to not face such blatant persecution, angry that such things could have happened to my friends, and hopeful that I might have the strength to fight such things and come out the victor, as they had... with such peace and love and faith.

When I saw the images in the Virginia Tech massacre. And the tape that was controversial and was aired on tv. And the ignorance pertaining to mental health issues, and the lack of care in our country. Guantanamo Bay also haunts me.
These images just remind me that every where, including America, there are people suffering for whatever reason, poverty, violence, slavery. I think the image of the woman asking for help after seeing the charred bodies of her family was hardest for me to watch. This video really shocked me.

This was not the one that opened my eyes to human rights but was certainly the one that traumatized me. In march of this year, the images, videos and news that came out of Tibet gave me more reason to fight for human rights in Tibet and everywhere.

Two images I've seen, come to mind for me in regards to bringing my awareness about human rights. The first image was of indigenous Yanamamo woman suffering from an introduced illness for which she had no immunity after Brazilian gold miners illegaly invaded her peoples territory in the 1980s. The second image was of a small boy, murdered by Moslem terrorists during the massacare of school children in Beslan, Russia.

Fundamentally, the problem is that capitalism, without any conscience, does not work - since capitalism is based on the principle of profiting at the expense of someone else. Profit has no place in a relationship between the wealthy and the poor. The World Bank needs to become a minimal-interest source of loans to poorer nations.

I love playing devil's advocate: Human rights don't exist, I have never been awoken to human rights abuses, pictures of degradation have no use but to shock - they don't change minds or make them.
But what I really believe is that I don't remember when I awoke to human rights, I don't know when I awoke to an anti-war, anti-atrocity, anti-persecution mindset. Photos of concentration camp victims were probably what did it and people love to play devil's advocate about that too- (holocaust denial).

There isn't enough space to really describe my eye opening experience, but, basically, it was through an elderly Romanian couple at my church who fled to America from the Communist regime in Romania. It made me more aware of how blessed I am as an American, to not face such blatant persecution, angry that such things could have happened to my friends, and hopeful that I might have the strength to fight such things and come out the victor, as they had... with such peace and love and faith.

I remember being 8 years old, watching the news with my family, when the first images of young and very malnourished Bosnian male refugees were shown sitting inside these cages of barbed wires. There were soldiers with weapons dressed in military wear walking around them. Guarding them. As if these weak men could do anything. I remember asking why, and not getting sufficient answers. Or an answer that I quite understood. That image still haunts me whenever I think about wars and its destruction.

The four countries(?) which voted against the Declaration on Indigenous Peoples Rights australia, canada, new zealand and the u.s. are all former(?) British colonies.
And the British government continues to resist calls to sign up to ILO Convention 169, the leading international law on tribal peoples.
Put further pressure on the British government to sign the Convention!

You are just so wrong. They have principles they follow in order to avoid an international crisis. Nation have to be respected or it will create a conflict. Do you understand how that works? Great. They just don't want to jeopardize the whole institution, but believe me, it's not that they don't want to help.
And there were reasons the League of Nations failed all of which have been dealt with, so stop posting opinions for which you have no basis in facts.

Two images I've seen, come to mind for me in regards to bringing my awareness about human rights. The first image was of indigenous Yanamamo woman suffering from an introduced illness for which she had no immunity after Brazilian gold miners illegaly invaded her peoples territory in the 1980s. The second image was of a small boy, murdered by Moslem terrorists during the massacare of school children in Beslan, Russia.

redtide is right..but look at world war 2 where we knew an attack on pearl harbor was happening yet we still let it happen just to go to war-even world war 1 sending the lusitania into german u-boat occupied waters- the gulf of tonkin- and now 9/11 and the pentagon-our country has figured out the most perfect way to send us to war-SCARE TATICS..btw i'm in the army and you people can hate on the war and the government all you want but lay off soldiers. we do our jobs-take it up with your senator
