A very significant decline in Roddick's game was just around the corner at this period. Aside from the 5 set defeat to Isner at the US Open, Stefanki had Roddick performing very well throughout 2009. However when he was edged in 5 by Cilic at the Aus open he hado call the trainer for shoulder problems. After that upset he got the final here and won in Miami, but it wasn't long before he was sidelined again. I don't think he's ever recovered from his injuries in mid 2010. His serve is gone
@RivalryTennis How his year could have been and he could have had more confidence. Maybe knowing he is closing on the Top 5 he plays a good Clay Court season and possibly wins Wimbledon knowing he might have been the hottest player on tour.
@RivalryTennis would have been great for andy, but I think he surprised everyone, when he made the miami final that year, which he must have been very hungry to win, after not winning the title at indian wells.
People may think Roddick is passive, but he's really not always. He just has a problem with his forehand because it's too tight and he's got to smoothen out his forehand instead of curling his forehand
@grvashok yeah hes got to relax his forehand so his forehand doesn't tighten and forehand the forehand because curling forehands make forehand a bad forehand tight forehand
@grvashok Roddick IS passive today. He has been almost exclusively since late 2005. He's brainless and I've no idea what he's paying Stefanki for. This case of Roddick is one of the most bamboozling I've ever seen. How a player who relied on sheer aggression, which worked, reverted to playing so passive is beyond me.
Wow even when Roddick tried to attack, Ljubicic would push heavy topsin shots that would lead to Roddick hitting shots that would sit up and I just don't like Ljubicic for they type of game he has
Such a stupid way for Roddick to loose this match. He definetly had chosen the wrong game plan - he was soooo passive. If had stepped up, this match would have been his. He is definetly better player than Ljubicic.
But credit to the croatian, he had incredible week.
Nobody could have beaten Ljubicic that week. He surely suprised us all. Nobody predicted that he would win this tournament.

I actually hate this ATP event, because of the slow hardcourt. (probably the slowest one) Points are taking as much time as on a clay.
By the way, great match and great quality. Thanks.
