PCs and even MACs will never load this fast unless there is a major breakthrough in computer technology. Every OS gets bigger and bigger and more complex so it takes way more memory and power to boot them up. Yeah this old Lisa is faster but its also dealing with literally 10's of thousands less software.
@Nopartyforme1 Yeah? Have you seen a recent Amiga with its 4.1 OS? It boots in 9 seconds. Furthermore, popular Linux distributions like Ubuntu are close to a 10 second boot time on a normal PC.
i use an emulator its a lot cheaper than just getting the real thing but i have an apple 2 emulator in colum mode (the mode where you script) if someone could tell me how to use it that would be great (i cant find a lisa emulator:( )
no, it's got a different connector. It's been a while since I sold it, but if I remember correctly it had a 9 pin serial connection kind of like a PC serial connection.
Those things where LOUD!!! Had a 20GB Miniscribe on my Commodore 64 BBS, and if I didn't hear the drive at midnight while it did automaint, I knew the board had crashed.
yeah, it was pretty cool for the short time that I had it, but it would have been nice if it had the Lisa OS installed, rather than the Mac OS. I was seriously considering doing the conversion but it would have taken a lot of work (you have to get different rom chips, and convert the screen back to the original aspect ratio). Still, it made for a great conversation starter.
I have to say, the thing I'm going to miss most about this computer is that kick ass power button. Best power button on a computer, hands down. I mean come on, the damn thing freakin' lights up!
Ha ha! I recently bought one of these myself. I just can't wait for it to arrive in Japan, so I can lay my hands upon it, and look all over it.

after seeing War Games, the Last Starfighter and others, I was hooked
back then pre-internet, it was only friends BBS's you could connect to with your 2400 baud modem ... times sure have changed

It probably brought-in a lot of yen, since Lisas of any type are rare and expensive.
In fact, the cheapest I saw for one was roughly $300 US.

Why would you sell something so beautiful? This was clearly the most advanced computer until Macintosh SE.

Eh.. I'd have to say this was still more advanced then SE considering the fact that it could multi-task when Mac SE could not

does the Lisa mouse in the video work with the original Macintosh?
kargaroc386 2 years ago
no, it's got a different connector. It's been a while since I sold it, but if I remember correctly it had a 9 pin serial connection kind of like a PC serial connection.
steepee 2 years ago
both the Mac and the Lisa used a DE-9 port for the mouse. it also said that they are completely interchangeable.
i would like to see a picture or a video of a Mac with a Lisa mouse.
kargaroc386 2 years ago
The original mac, Mac 512, and Plus and the Lisa share the same DB-9 mouth connector.

It makes the bootsound after it does its hard drive check at the beginning. It took all that time before it even bothers to check the OS
