I have hundreds of LP's from the 60's and 70's of marches and I find it amazing that I have never heard this march, before this youtube, as good as it is.
@Chrisbusing This is the main march of the City of Invercargill, where I was born. It is extremely well know all over the world. It was adopted by many units in the US, especially the New York State Militia.
This is a great rendition of this piece. I am proud that a Japanese band is playing it. Japan and New Zealand were unfortunately at war earlier. This is purely politics. We are now like minded and great friends. We always respected Japan.

So, this Lithgow must have other marches as good that I can find. Or was this his one and only masterpiece, kind of like Bagley's National Emblem.
Japan Defense Force band does better job than US Marine Band, on this march. I have seen the Youtube of that.
This march played by the band of our Japan Self Dfense Forces is Invercargill March written in 1908 by Alex F. Lithgow,born in Scotland, for the City of Invercargill, New Zealand in where he lived. One of my most favorite march , so as the band of the U.S.M.C.

This is JGSDF's military marching band.
May be northern army.

This is not an Alford March. I don't know who's it is, but it is not Alford.
Sounds like Karl King. But definitely American.

当方北海道ですが、道新では「国の政策」としての自衛隊には批判的ですが、各種行事には割と好意的な記事が多いと思います。産業基盤が貧弱な地方自治体にとって貴重な観光資源ですから。
個人の騒音等に対する苦情はあんまり左右関係ない印象ですね。
