At 2:00 I like how you hold his hand up and say "look how I hit him", when all he needed to do was step into you and perform a gaun-sau "splitting arm"... Really throughout the video I see you flapping your hands around more resembling tai chi "push hands" rather than chi-sau. You don't stick to the center, you hands are all over the place and you have no semblence of footwork throughout the video. I don't mean to bash, but undoubtedly any learned wing tsun exponent would maim you. Happy Trainin
I am proud you are making efforts to discredit Wing Chun, however Chi Sau is not a fighting method for sparring; it is a tool to help us to understand how to feel the opponent. What are you actually doing in the video is to only show that Wing Chun Chi Sau reasoning does actually work. If one tries to use it in fighting, then you would be 100% right. Show us a challenge against the Wooden Dummy now.
Since all we really can say is this chi sao LOOKS weak. But as we all know it is about FEELING energy, sometimes people think energy means fast, this isnt so. What looks slow doesnt mean it is, when you are there facing your opponent.
this master is renowned for his softness, heavyness, speed and Yi I hate to say it but it is a fact that this master has defeated many a wing chun exponent with better reputations than you mention. I have seen Gary Lam But good as he is,I still opt for this Master
I would pay too see him do real chi sao is done id like too see him pull that off on a master like william chueng or Gary lam im not saying this guy isnt a master in kungfu but his chi sao is week!!!

Man ! The retarded comments some of you write. This master is clearly very very skilled, infact the best i've seen on You Tube. His hands are fast and fluid. This master would destroy anyone who is stupid enough to use a Bong Sau. He has exposed the flaws in Wing Chun Chi Sau. Wuzu Quan Chi sau is a much better excercise to improve your listening & sensitivity skills. Excellent video.
@nbz1973 the reason why wuzu practitioners do not use bong sau is that it is weak towards heavy hands which come from wu zu training. plus wu zu shi sau is from less. we do not stick using forms, we stick using any part to control you. its more like push hands than chisau
@rekcufeht bong sao is supposed to be the softest hand and never meant to hold heavy weight or any wight at all. its job is slow down the attack, listen and change never to hold something.
absolutely right. there is a time and a place for a bong sau but its definately NOT the right option here, sinking elbow energy better option, but against someone like Yap Leung just try and absorb the information that he is showing you by twisting you into a pretzel, you are not going to succeed in any way but you might be able to force him to show you a slightly higher level of ass whipping if you study hard enough. hahaha love this guy
no disrespect to Yap siensi, his skill is good and "mature",but i dont agree on using the term chi sau, maybe "liam chiu" or some other more generic term. chi sau is like a brand. like calling all ointment "tiger balm". great videos, hope to see more!
Ok jeetsao1, I don't know what you mean by Wing Chun, probably everyone has their own idea of what Wing Chun really is and yours is probably more defined than mine. However, whatever it is, I would bet that it made little difference to the outcome when facing Sifu Yap Leong.
Wuzu. My point is that this video is suppose to demonstrate 5A gung fu against wing chun. The guy in black is not demonstrating good wing chun. You would object if I posted a video of wing chun against 5A and used a guy who attacked in a manner contrary to good 5A gung fu. Ultimately if you have two structurally souond arts the winner comes down to the most skilled practitioner. And yes all wing chun is not the same but most follow similar principles. Hit when there is an opening. Cont.
The guy in black is trapping as a prep for every attack. This is wrong. When the center is open you simpy strike. Sifu Yaps elbow is out and so his center is open. Now, I am not arguing wheather he can close the opening when attacked. I am saying the guy in black is executing the wrong techniques for the openings presented. So this is not as sifu says" the way they use their chi sao" I will say this, the principles he is teaching are the same as those taught in wing chun.
You have to remember though, there a several lineages of Wing Chun (Yong Chun Quan) and each looks different from the next. Even the basic forms are performed differently.
so tell me which part of the video shows the point where the guy in black can simply enter, ok in theory, but not in practice, what looks like an opening is simply a trap, walk into it at your peril. jeetsao train hard, know your chi sau. wing chun chi sau may follow the same principles but 5ancestors does not. no predeterimined structure or guard prior to protect before the contest. it just reacts accordingly, that is chi sau..
Sifu yap stated the principle, when My opponent moves I move first. Wing chun uses this principle. Good wing chun also has no on guard, it just acts or reacts. However you must have structure. This is how you align the segments of your body for most efficient and effortless movement. Again my comments are not to critisize sifu yap but to point out that the guy in black is not demonstrating good wing chun principles, concepts or structure.
@jeetsao1 I quite agree and also his student was not really trying to attack with full intent. Not to mention that YL already knows what is coming. Just to expand on one of your points, Lap Sau is done when we feel an overwhelming pressure into or across our centre and not as an initiation as you rightly pointed out. Only a novice would attack without an opening created by our opponents force. YL maybe good but his student is not a true representation of a high level Wing Chun practitioner.
Darkside whatever the structure if it is based on wc then im afriad it has no effectiveness against Sifu Yap Leong, the structures of wc wether forward energy elbow in, out, just dont work. You are blinded by your own intelligance to see the skill here. all you can do is discredit the wing chun rather than admit Sifu Yap Leong is superior! some food for thought, but dont choke.
The Ancient Sage he says: What I know I don't see.
The Modern Sage he says: What you see you don't know,
This video is another demonstration of the solid skills of Sifu Yap Leong (probably the best kung fu master in Europe). It shows how he effortlessly anticipates any form of attack and counters with deadly skill.
A word to "darkside": you seem like quite an expert when you are talking. Perhaps you could show us a video of yourself in action?...
Word to the wise: Some people talk plenty and offer little.
ThaiChor, I am aware that there are other disciples of Grandmaster Chee in the UK. Neither of them, in my opinion, has the experience, skill nor body intelligence of Sifu Yap Leong, who practised the art in Malaysia years before any of them did in the UK. As for the rest of Europe, relative to the UK, it is a kung fu desert (again in my opinion).
First. This is not how wing chun rolls. Your elbows are out. There is no forwardness and you are both crossing.
Second, good wing chun does not attempt to trap first. With the poor elbow position and lack of forwardness the first attacks would likely be straight strikes. Chi sao among other things is to feel openings in the opponent and to eliminate your own, not to develope trapping.
At 2:00 I like how you hold his hand up and say "look how I hit him", when all he needed to do was step into you and perform a gaun-sau "splitting arm"...
