Bob Lutz is almost single handedly turning GM around. His passion for cars that Americans want will put GM back on top. Now if only Ford and Chrysler could find a man like him.
Downsides? The Camry demonstrates a busier ride than Accord and Malibu, the latter of which also stifles more road and wind noise. The interior, although roomy, comfortable, and straightforward, is arguably the blandest of the group with its "acres of sickly gray plastic" that come across "awfully industrial next to the stylish Malibu," per St. Antoine. Plus, similar to the Altima's, the Camry's steering feels too light and anesthetized.
I have to say it's definately one of the best-looking cars that GM has put out, in a long time however; I noticed that they did copy a lot of other mfg's designs; from the tailights, body, interior and wheels, etc. Kinda looks like a VW Passat or Toyota. Otherwise, it's pretty nice and I'm sure it will sell well for GM.
I'm glad GM is investing its time making the interior more attractive. I look back at my 2001 camaro and all that plastic, boring interior compares nothing to what GM is doing now... even the new 08' CTS looks awesome with the new ambient interior lighting.
That is such a good-looking car. If it drives anything like the Saturn Aura it's a platform-mate with the American public is STUPID if they don't buy these. I know the two previous Malibus have been hyped up as Camry/Accord killers and both failed miserably, and I'm not going to say this Malibu is going to be an Accord/Camry killer either--the Accord and Camry are just too deeply entrenched--but it'll be a great car for Chevy, and I can't wait to get in and drive one.
I had no interest in this car until I saw one at the State Fair of Texas car show. In person, this car REALLY impresses if you look at it with an open mind. Attention to detail shows up everywhere you look. This is not the same GM from 10 years ago, or even 5 years ago. Bob Lutz has had time to work his magic, and they really are finally putting out cars worth a fair consideration.
Ehm the wipers are just from bosch and are seen on almost all new europe cars. And the Icon that's in the headlight (lenscap) comes from the VW Golf (1997)
It's the nicest car GM has ever created. But frankly it lacks the modern look of Japanese cars inside and out. Especially the interior of the Camry and Accord.
Overall it appears to be a big step over the last generation... aka it doesn't burn my corneas when I look at it. GM is slowly improving, and it's evident in this vehicle.
The first domestic that I'm considering in years. Fantastic job all around. One can only hope that GM keeps up this trend. Fit, finish, and aesthetics are key, and this car seems to deliver. Now then, get this puppy out there to the auto journalists so we can hear how it drives!
Wow, im a lexus and toyota owner. i HATE to say this, but this car is really luxuries . It looks really nice very, very grown up car. I will be looking forward for more of gm's cars.Keep on the good work. No more crappy car's from you guys.
The rear looks like ass. What's with chevrolet designers not using wrap around taillights? And the logo headlamp camp is nothing new, VW has it, amongst others.
WOW! This used to be one of my least favourite cars! Very well done--excellent. I must say though, I find the back end not matching the rest of the car in looks.
Bob I never thought I would say that a Malibu was a beautiful car but you and your team at GM have outdone yourself. The 2008 Malibu is absolutely beautiful and definitely a home run. Congratulations on a world class new Chevrolet! -Jim
LOL, American cars suck, who has heard of these models outside of the U.S.? European and Japanese cars are driven the world over.

That's a man's car. Very well designed. I hope soon GM presents an SS version with a V8 engine. It is a very beautiful car.

Remarkable - a GM car not made in Australia or Germany that doesn't look like garbage.
Still, Lutz has made pretty cars before - let's see if the front axles stay in the diff longer than his LH Chryslers.

Aside from the awsome car, what a job GM has done on the Ren Cen looks awsome.

Side markers? That's crappy on this car. An European VW Polo (Cheap city car) has them beautifully put away into the mirrors.
