i just got a meinl headliner as a gift and im disappointed cuz it keeps buzzing and rattling no matter how i tune it! sometimes it sounds like im hitting a guitar instead of a drum. and how are the strings supposed to sound like when they're plucked? cuz my right side sounds muffled and my left side sounds loud like guitar strings. help me out, thanks:)
I need some help. I picked one up yesterday. I can't adjust the sizzle right at all. I've gone from tight to very loose and all that happens is annoying long rattler after any thing is hit on the play face.
Sorry for the late reply. i've found if you tune it on the front bottom at bit loose but the top tight then you get a good sound, you just have to get rid of the bad frequency hum which gives the long rattle. its the same principle for a normal snare or tom when tuning really. i think you'll always get a small rattle but i think that adds a nice effect, its how you use it!
you could always put some gaffer inside to stop the rattle but it might hinder the overall sound.

I've got this one on order...what tips do you have for tuning to get the best bass and snare setups?
