  • Its a defence force, not a trooper tavelling force. I am fed up of the Irish politicians that don't see anything nationalist.

  • I was in Victor Coy during Batt 1 and was posted at Taroman, Lolotoe, Bobonaro and JPD. Met some of the Irish boys, top blokes!

  • Sorry about the music, had to change it due to copyright.

  • Go Irish!

I was there in 2000 with Irish Soldiers! These pics were mostly taken in Taroman - Fatululik, one of the sub-districts in Suai where Irish soldiers were based. I still remember when refugees returned home in 2000, it was hectic and I think Irish soldiers did a very good job to provide transport for them. The road was very bad and I ended up spending the night at the river.

    Thx for posting!

keep doing the good job! Few but get the job done - irish

  • What were ya doing at the time?

  • its nice to now our armys doin so much goo now come home and fight our own battle thasts still goining on

  • Good vid. Served there too. Anymore vids or pics, especially FOB area etc. or pre/post green patrols.

  • What the hell are you guys doing thee ?you should be throwing out all the illegal nigerian scammers back in MEATH AND DUBLIN. IRELAND NEEDS YOU HOME WITH THE ILLEGAL INVASION.OVER 13 PERCENT OF IRELAND IS NON IRISH NOW.

  • dont worry Otto, C18 are on the job

    C18

    14/88

  • fuck off you giant turd

  • Does anyone know how many irish troops were in East Timor or was there only Rangers

  • I think it was only rangers. A unit of about 40 at a time were sent on several four month tours of duty. They were attached to a unit of New Zealand SAS. There's possbly more information on the defence forces website.

  • Only for the iniatial intervention (INTERFET) afterwards the were attached to NZBATT 1,2,3 etc.Irich Platoon looked after a coy size area called AO Cu Chulainn.

  • Good one, Thanks.

  • Approx 240 troops overall. 1st and 2nd contingent were arw, after that line troops went. They did have to be selected though and generally only the best were selected. Approx 8 contingents of 4-5 month tours.

  • it was both regs and rangers

  • i i join as reserve would i be doin any peace cor or just sitting in barracks

  • marching 1 day a week, doing field exercises 1 sunday each month, and doing 2-6 weeks full time around ireland, no overseas.

  • so if i join peace corr ill go overseas

  • does any one know when army recruitment season start???????????????

  • would air corp go over there and stay there or wat the story

  • No air corp on this particular trip, selection criteria applied. However general overseas service is open to Air Corp members

  • i thought the air corp would go overseas the most???

  • Cpl from Air Corps on 7 IrCon. He was a Medic.

  • Flag back? NZ & IRL joking around? In the US, units would steal other's company flags (guideons). Is that what ya meant?

  • More or less,NZBATT III were relieved by NZBATT IV before the end of our mission, when all the guys came up to say goodbye they somehow managed to get our National Flag from the flag pole! The first we knew was when they produced it from the back of a nmv driving down the track. i have it on video, for a future posting

  • Joke-sters they are. Of course they stole it because it rivaled their own flag.

We tried chaining our flag down to no avail and consider stealing the flag a complement.

  • whats the name of that song

  • Its called "If i ever leave this world alive" by "flogging molly".It available on the soundtrack from the movie p.s. I love you. Hope that helps.

  • I seen some of the lads photos looked the dogs bits. Yea I managed to get a bit of training in with the arw prior to the trip leaving. remember they wore the brit dpm, I made a bit of a mistake when I spotted one of them around kilbride. funny story, but not for here!. well nice speaking to you comrade, im out now, and wish i was back in every day. hopefully sign up with the reserve in dundalk, apparently i go straight in as a nco, with 5 years. so looking forward to that. AIRE.

  • It would have been the first platoon to go out, must have been the spring of 2000, because I remember coming out of the laois,. im 90% sure it was a four month tour. I had no over seas service at that stage and was really pissed of I didint get on that trip, ended up in the leb with the 87th and 89th (the un cushy pull out tour). I also remember an aussie officer coming over to inspect the platoon before they left. would have loved to have been in timor, apparenlty its just like belfast LOL.

  • Ah yeah thats prob right enough, well Ircon 3 it would be as 1 & 2 were ARW. Ya missed an excellent trip!

  • alright mate, served with the 2nd infantry battlion in he LEB, never got to go to east timor because of HOTEL duty, I trained with the 2nd inf bt that went out though, sgt paul mulhearn and fat mick murtagh from down. good to see this stuff on you tube. spread the word. RAPE PILLAGE MURDER, 2INF BATT DUBLIN. BELFAST BRIGADE.

  • Which contingent was that?? Never made the Leb myself, did the training before being diverted though.
