  • Yeh, we need more interviews as good as this one. Spot on Archbishop Chaput!

  • Archbishop Chaput is right on!

  • If Pelosi is as ardent a Catholic as she claims, she would know that it doesn't necessarily matter what ONE Father or Doctor says. What the magesterium says counts and the magesterium is quite clear on this issue. You are NOT a Catholic Pelosi. You are as anti-Catholic as it gets. You aren't fooling averyone.

  • Mlbalan, I'm not sure what you mean by "there are always exceptions to the rule". The thesis that we begin to exist at fertilization is supposed to be a universal truth about us. But if it is false for many of us why not wonder whether it is indeed false for all of us? Why not search for a more plausible point at which we begin to exist like the emergence of consciousness? Also, if your view is correct, it seems we ought to mourn embryos that split and cease to exist when they twin.

  • If you believe in providence, that God has an active role in His creation, then why do you not accept that perhaps that was the final part in the creation of those twins? The embryo that existed before didn't "die." It just entered its final state.

Any other point that is chosen in terms of recognizing the "personhood" of an individual is arbitrary. In that case, we should act with caution and with the benefit of the doubt.

  • I'm not sure what you mean by the embryo entering it's final state. If the embryo splits and two new embryos result, then it seems the original no longer exists. Maybe you don't want to call that "death" but then I don't know how to interpret it. When I mentioned the onset of consciousness, I wasn't talking about recognizing "personhood" I was proposing that that is when WE being to exist. In other words, that minds and biological living organisms are two distinct entities, and that we are minds

  • Mlbalan, are you suggesting that the embryo that twins was never one of us, but was rather the vessel through which the twins arrived on the scene? So when it splits it doesn't really "die" because it was never one of us to begin with? That is an interesting thought, though it would still entail that the twins didn't exist at fertilization.

  • "biologically we know that from the moment of conception, a human being begins to be a human being"

First of all, there is never a time at which a human being is NOT being a human being. Second of all, the remark is false. There is good biological evidence that human beings (i.e. you and I, etc.) do NOT exist at fertilization. What about identical twins? The embryo splits well into the pregnancy producing two new embryos. but there was only ONE embryo at fertilization. Do the math.

  • There are always exceptions to the rule. That doesn't mean a genetically unique human being doesn't exist at fertilization.

  • The thesis that we begin to exist at fertilization is supposed to be a universal truth about all human beings. But if it is false for many of us, then why not wonder whether it is indeed false for all of us? Indeed, why not look for a more satisfactory point for when we start to exist, like the emergence of sentience. Also, think about the original embryo that splits and ceases to exist in the case of twins. If you are serious about your beliefs, shouldn't you mourn its death?

But if it is false for many of us why not wonder whether it is indeed false for all of us. Why not search for a more plausible point at which we come into the world such as the onset of consciousness? Also, if you take your beliefs seriously, shouldn't you mourn the embryo that splits and ceases to exist when it twins?

  • The posts on this video have always been moderated, because many people on YouTube can't seem to control the language they use.

  • Yes many do mourn..

  • Thank you, Your Excellency for speaking out the truth. What mother would demand a right to kill her very own child?

God exists & He is just.

"Woe to those who call evil good, but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values and called it enlightenment."

  • YouTube:

Pope Benedict XVI Endorses John McCain and Sarah Palin

This Shows us what is at steak. Pray for this Country, stop the Evil that is Obama.

  • Biden, has NO spine!

You have apparently decided to take the "easy" way out Joe, and this disturbs me. Your whole party disturbs me. It has turned into the party of the abortionists!

Joe's response is that of someone who will not cross the line and lose some votes for taking a stand for the unborn.

All that's missing here is a cane and top hat and a little music for Joe to dance to!

...and he calls himself a "Catholic!"

  • She is seriously confused. sigh~ you'd think these politicians were well educated...sigh~

    even noncatholics know this.

  • For anyone who needs a perfectly clear statement of faith/morals from the beginnings of Christianity on abortion look at the Didache. It is a writing which is attributed to the 12 apostles which says that "one shall not procure abortion nor take the life of the new-born child."

  • Pelosi is a stuffing her bra with corporate money. (And she must be stuffing it with change because she looks like she is sagging.)

  • It is about time some Catholic Bishops started speaking up on this issue! We thank you Archbishop Chaput very much!

  • Thank you Archbishop Chaput!

  • It's about time Catholic Bishops start opening their mouths about Church teaching. It needs to happen more often. These so called "Catholic" politicians love to use the the Church as their backdrop to glean votes from the "faithful" (if you can call them "faithful" for voting pro choice). The only political message being sent by pro choice Catholics is a resounding "I WILL NOT SERVE!"

  • Chaput is another catholic bishop with no moral authority. They only say and do what the vatican tells them. He's a puppet of a corrupt church.

  • The only proper response to your post is to laugh, Mr. "free spirit."

  • Are you a Catholic-he is adressing Catholics, if yo are not it does not apply to you

  • Archbishop Chaput is right in speaking out to set the record straight on what Catholics believe; when public figures speak out incorrectly and lead others astray. I thank you Archbishop for setting the record straight.

  • Tahnk you so much for sticking up for life.
