I am enjoyinh a nice and warm summer evening in the NC mountains and watching and listening to the great music from my youth in Holland, this brings back quite some memory's Love it !! Thanks erwigfilms for uploading, apparently you are also Dutch (and let's be honest it aint much if it isn't Dutch).
In the early 60's I was Ad Manager for the Uganda Argus in Kampala, Uganda. I well remember this band on a one night stand at a local cinema, organized by the local Rotary Club. I handled and provided much publicity prior to their arrival...had a prime seat for the show, which was sold out! I've been a fan ever since.
Yes, they played well in the 60s. I remember seeing them once only,at 100 Oxford St. about this time. They had their VW "camper Van" parked round the back in Berners Street.who still remembers that?
At that time I still lived and played in Holland and I remember the announcements of the new band. We were surprised, especially a so called modernist replacing Kolstee. It all worked out just fine.
Thank you so much for sharing this! In my opinion the DSC band was never better than in 1960. It's a pity there is so little of Jan Morks's incredible playing left on film.
The best ever jazz band

The band that sparked my love for jazz when I was a 7 year old kid. Fantastic!

In deze samenstelling vond ik de DSC op z'n best.
Zo jammer dat Peter Schilperoord en Jan Morks niet samen door één deur konden....

There is a CD "The Newton Boys" which has music from the movie of the same name with the song you want. It is a great version.
I have a copy but being new to Utube I have no idea how to post it.
Cheers

At 4:41 Jan Morks' solo starts!!!!!
To me the best jazzclarinettist ever, closer to me than Benny Goodman, Edmond Hall or Buddy de de Franco. Remember Jan Morks!!!!
Thanks Bernard Berkhout
